I was 13 years old living in a little village of Portugal and heard on the radio Love Over Gold from Alchemy concert. It was love at first heard for me. My french teatcher ask to name our life hero I named Mark Knopfler. For two years straight all that was played on my player was Alchemy from Dire Straits in a time that not many peolple knew them specially in Portugal. After that came big success with Brothers in Arms. Now at 53 I'm having a bitter sweet nostalgia.

Absolutely. I wore out a few LPs of this and several cassettes. Listened to it endlessly as a teenager. This is the pinnacle of the alchemy set. Just brilliant.

Totally agree except, maybe, that reference to Terry being a "quiet" killer, whereas, in my view, he's about as quiet, understated and reticent as a WWII air-raid! Rock-on Terry, king of percussive drumming, ace of accoustics and duke of the decibels!

Le niveau des musiciens !!... tout le monde connait Dire Straits bien entendu et Mark Knopfler est stratosphérique, mais l'ensemble est parfaitement harmonieux chacun joue sa partition sans écraser les autres, le mix est dingue et j'adore car chaque chansons est interprété différemment. La dernière mesure du morceau a été travaillé bien sûr mais c'est clean et ca sonne.
