Gas switch (direct deco to deco)
There is a number of gas switch procedures depending on the organization, environment , gear used or level of difficulty. Although there are slight differences between them they share one common aspect; the emphasis on the confirmation of the mix the diver is about to switch to… by both; the diver himself as well as the diver’s buddy.
I have found quite a few great videos on the bottom deco switch but not as many describing the direct switch between the deco gases while avoiding breathing the bottom gas in between.
The following procedure is the one I personally find really interesting and, it needs to be said, it is based on UTD’s Andy Georgitsis concept where the emphasis goes on the necessity to never let go of the valve after the cylinder’s mix confirmation.
It certainly is not the one and only way, neither is it the preferable method when one needs to switch “on the fly” (while ascending) but obviously, it is worth practicing as long as you can spare a minute or two on a deco stop in order to perform this , beyond doubt, very safe switch.

Istnieją różne szkoły i sekwencje procedury zmiany gazu pod wodą. Choć różnią się detalami to w jednej kwestii zachowują spójność; naciskiem na sprawdzenie przez nurka jak i jego partnera mieszanki, którą zamierza oddychać nurek nim weźmie automat do ust. O zagrożeniach wynikających z przełączenia na niewłaściwy gaz nie trzeba tutaj wspominać.
Jest wiele dostępnych fajnych filmów w sieci pokazujących sekwencję zmiany gazu dennego na gaz dekompresyjny ale dość mało na temat zmiany pomiędzy gazami deko z pominięciem gazu dennego.
Przedstawiam tutaj procedurę, którą sam stosuję opartą na sekwencji promowanej przez Andy Georgitsis z UTD, który kładzie nacisk na niepuszczanie zaworu butli po potwierdzeniu zawartości jej mieszanki. Z pewnością nie jest to procedura do przełączania w tzw. „locie” (w trakcie wynurzenia) ale doskonale sprawdza się przy założeniu, że do przystanku na zmianę gazu dodamy sobie minutę lub dwie na pełne jej zrealizowanie.

Attempted this... I get perfect buoyancy with 2 cylinders and I can stay still. With 4 cylinders the first stages make my gravity center forward and I need to fin to keep stable. Any tips? Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks in advance

Ask your technical instructor for procedures on the long hose donation when breathing from deco cylinders before you make another attempt on a know-it-all yet incompetent comment.
