This is wildly fun to play with! Simple C4D scenes with quick access to the Quixel Bridge is so great. Opens up a bunch of great possibilities for motion graphics and archviz projects. As always thank you for all you do Winbush!! Love it!

Thanks for the tutorial! Is this really a "live link"? Can you change something in your C4d file and will it update in UE? I found its weird if you have to change anything. It looks like you need to re-import everything again - and it creates duplicates. Am i wrong here?

You should have to update in cinema for it to transfer back over but you shouldnt have to reimport each time

Winbush youre the man. I having an issue where if I build a room with extruded walls In C4D then i bring over the project using Cineware to UE5, the interior walls wont show. Its like once you extrude a wall, unreal doesnt read the polygons you extrude.

I've found the FBX way of working is more fool proof. If its static and not animated I'd recommend just exporting out as an fbx model

I'm stuck right now because I want to export cloth simulations from C4D to FBX, but it seems not to work. So I tried to import it in UE, but the FBX export did not worked because its a GC animation. Do you know how I could achieve this ? Thanks a lot, Emile

Hi Jonathan, you know it's impossible to install Cineware in Unreal. I've tried several ways according to your tutorials and I still can't. I'd appreciate it if you could guide me. Here's what I have. Regards.

I can't really show anymore except for the tutorials I've done showing how to install it but the only other thing I've been people not do is make sure everything is installed on the C drive. If you have your programs on other drives other than the C it tends to not work correctly.

Why does my material look totally different from what you have? All of the settings are completely different. Are you using basic C4d materials, or redshift? I don't have the global setting with the "use reflection color" button.

@@JonathanWinbush What I mean by that is are you using the material node (old) or the standard node (new) in your node material system? Not talking about the old shader graph, as I haven't used that for 2 years. I'm just trying to figure out why you get different options for materials in Unreal than I do. I ended up making my own Unreal materials, but it would be great if I could get the redshift materials to port over more accurately. I'm not expecting it to be a 1 to 1 translation, but I feel like it could be closer matched based on the example in your video. And I'm assuming procedural textures are not supported, but it looks like there's bump mapping on yours...so that must be a texture.

I think I have a problem, I want to import Polygon FX effects into UE, but the latest direct link doesn't support it either, so I chose datasmith from UE5.3, it can import Polygon FX geometry cache, but it will cause GPU crash in DX12! The animation works normally under DX11, but I can't use RT anymore. Could you help me? I would be very grateful!@@JonathanWinbush

I have a rigid body sim in a cloner in C4D, when imported all the rigid cloner items have keyframes, but don't move in the sequencer. Any ideas for how to get that to start moving? Im kind of confused how it has the keyframes but doesnt show the cloner items as moving.

@@JonathanWinbush I did; for some reason the problem was happening when i opened a game blank starter level instead of the movie film level you showed. When i switched to a film level project it imported correctly.

Its 5.4.2 but when I turn on the plug in and restart I get a error saying modules are missing / built in different engine and it lists a bunch of cineware files. Tells me to build through IDE...

Knowing that the future is real-time, why doesn't Maxon simply commit to improving Redshift RT or create a Resdshift PathTracing version like in Unreal? It would be much better to keep everything within C4D than to throw the file into C4D / Unreal. Imagine that you need to change the animation and you will need to cook everything again, apply the materials again, etc. I honestly don't understand how difficult it is for a company the size of Maxon. Blender has Evvee Next with Raytracing coming and Circles which is very fast, so if they can do it, why can't Maxon do it? I'm a C4D user, but if I have to use Unreal for real-time rendering, it's better to change my entire workflow to Unreal and do everything directly in it, discarding C4D altogether, especially with 'The Avalanche Project' arriving in Unreal. Does Maxon not have anyone competent to warn her about this?

Honestly I dont really see the issue let each company do what they are good at. Coming up in the industry I had to use XSI, 3D Max, After Effects, Modo, Real Flow, Cinema etc.... I've been taught to use whatever program you're using for it's strengths and we are in a age where the integration between programs is getting better and better so its easy to collab with your peers no matter the software.
