Suga: "I'll forgive you." In Fire they reference youth facing all kinds of expectations and criticisms rather than enjoying their youth and have fun and pursue their own dream instead of those of family and society. It's alright if you lose, if you don't reach the goal others have set for you and rather choose to find your own way. Yoongi/Suga understands.

Honestly I can't speak for what Suga really wanted the "I'll forgive you" to mean, but since you asked for our interpretation of it I'll share mine ^^ For me the song is about how society makes "rules" and "molds" that make us miserable if we don't follow them. It makes us feel inferior if we can't achieve those standard and question our value when we look at others who actually fit. Hence my interpretention of "burn it up" and "fire": it's like they're encouraging the listeners to just burn that checklist that we use to compare ourselves with to others or determine our value in society. It's almost revolutionary lyrics asking people to rebel against the preconcieved ideas of our society and put our happiness first. But if you destroy something usually you get blamed for it. So for me "I'll forgive you" is another part of the encouragement they're giving as though they're saying "Just go for it, do whatever you want to do to be happy, even if others blame you for going against the system or being a rebel, we're on your side, we'll forgive you in their stead" PS: English is only my 3rd language so please excuse any mistakes and my gibberish like comment :) PPS: I loved the reaction!! I voted for an introduction to BTS video but I'm very happy with this. Just do you, we're a very easy to please bunch hehe

I never noticed the "dragging a grenade" part and no lie I've seen this mv probably over 50 times Roscoe. That's a big reason, right there, why we enjoy seeing others watch the amazing content BTS has put out, to see others get sucked into the high level of artistry, choreo, lyrcs, vocal and rap excellence, the meaning put into all they do and then there is heir remarkable relationships with eachother, the humor, humility, respect they have for eachother and everyone else too, and finding out new things we never realized before.

Roscoe doubting ARMY's willingness to watch a 38 minute video 😀LOLOLOLOLOL So, just a heads up, the Korean award shows have gotten to the point that they give BTS 20-30 minute sets for an award show.... and they make each set epic. No worries, we'll watch. So happy to see you on this journey. See what YOU started? 🙂 So, the first beat gets most reactors, don't worry. and the song they are jamming to at the beginning of this video is their song "Dope" which is another great MV and song. You'll find most of the lyrics are deeper than the surface may seem. Usually uplifting about not letting other voices tear you down, find your own voice, etc. Their song "Not Today" even has lyrics inspired my a speech by MLK and some of their more recent albums take a page from Swiss psychiatrist/psychoanalyst Carl Jung. Can't wait for you to react to more. Thanks for reacting! Enjoy!!! Edit: BTW, SUGA (one of the 3 rappers) is the one who came up with the phrase for Burn It Up.... in an interview a few years ago he said "So I heard that people from Daegu throw around the phrase “bultaoreune” like… when they are trying to hype themselves up or… They need to pull some courage together or whatever. Kind of like, “Let’s go, let’s burn this! Let’s do this!” You know? And at first, I was like… No, that can’t be true...But eventually I found it absolutely hilarious… And I realized I need to try using it somehow. So I tried recording it in my Daegu dialect" the other members tease him about how he says it, in the dialect from his home town... i would imagine it is a strong accent like someone from Brooklyn or New Jersey might be to other Americans from elsewhere. To me, my own opinion only, this song is a hype up song where BTS is telling themselves to throw it all out there, not listen to the nay sayers, give it their all and if they burn up in the process then they'll forgive themselves - they also use it to encourage ARMY to do the same, go after their dreams and not let others tell them they need to "know their place and stay there".... you'll see some lyrics about "spoons" in several of their songs, referring to the class system where gold spoons are richer people than silver spoons or dirty spoons, etc. BTW, if you want a reliable english translation website for BTS music, I recommend this one - they also usually put in explanations from a Korean culture/language perspective here and there: doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/
@TaylorCanada8
@TaylorCanada8 2 жыл бұрын
Yes...Doolset is definitely the best translations. Some of the lyric videos have trash translations. I agree with @C P most of their lyrics and meaning are much deeper than they appear, which means the fans can enjoy it on a surface level or dive deep if they choose.

The "YOUTH" on the fence? If you'll notice, at the beginning, we only see "YOU" and a hint of the T to show that it's part of something larger. Later, we see that "YOU" is part of "YOUTH". And then even later in the MV, you see that "YOUTH" is on fire, burning up...like in the lyrics. 😊 In South Korea, there is a very very heavy emphasis on education. Youth spend hrs and hrs on school, after-school academies and homework all to prepare for their version of the SATs to get into the best uni they can manage. The thought is that you spend your youth working hard to set yourself up for a situation where you make good money and when you achieve that, then you can do what you like. Fire is telling the youth that it's their life and they should spend their youth living it to the fullest. That section of the choreo that you were impressed with actually has a name. Among ARMY, it's referred to as "Fire 3:33" or just "3:33" because that's when it happens in the MV. It's kinda the highlight of the Fire choreo. I watched some of your other videos after some of the Beat Saber ones. The one to your nephew was lovely. No need to apologise for ignoring the poll. This is your channel. You do you! 🙂 PS. I'm so sorry but I laughed so hard when you thought you lost audio and then uhhh...didn't... 🤣 🇨🇦

Wonderful reaction. Army is pretty good at detecting fake, so just do you on the reactions. This one is from 2016, so the filming is better now, and they have more money to spend now on the MVs. During this time the money was just starting to come in, they were not really popular in Korea yet, but the international audience had found them. The next year, Korean media seemed surprised when BTS beat Justin Bieber (who had won 6 yrs in a row) as the fan voted favorite at the Billboard Awards in the US. Army worked our butts off and the final vote was 300M+ votes to 32M+ votes. Korean media finally started reporting on BTS after that. Sorry for the lecture! lol

i'm pretty sure suga is saying he'll forgive the youth who choose to live their own life.. bc society (mainly parents and older generations) will rebuke them for straying off the beaten path. but suga is saying that if you do what they've been telling you throughout this song then he'll be the one to forgive you when no one else will

So, I watched the whole thing before commenting and I'm sure the comment section is going to blow up on this. Thank you!! 💜 I absolutely LOVED this reaction. You get a million ARMY points for pausing, rewinding, dancing, lyrical analysis, video/filmmaking moments, appreciating the dance, and for just being YOU. 💜 "I'll forgive you." This is BTS in a nutshell. They'll put a line out there to make you stop and think and they will encourage everyone to get their own personal meaning from it. It could be them forgiving their haters, it could be Suga (who said the line) forgiving his parents, whoever. I think he's saying it to himself and to all of them and to everyone all at once, but my personal take on it, which I think he/BTS also thought of when saying this line, is fogiving yourself. "I'll forgive you." Look in the mirror and say it to yourself as often as you need to. "I'll forgive you." Looking forward to more.

@@ThisRoscoe The black hoodie person at the beginning symbolizes who Suga says it to, but who is that person? What does that faceless, nameless person really represent? A hater, seems obvious. Maybe it's because I'm my own biggest hater, though I try not to be, so I see "hater" as synonmous with "self" many times in their videos. They definitely have those songs where they address external haters, specific individuals at times, but a lot of their songs and their writing is also self-reflective. And you're definitely in the right place. I've watched a few of your earlier videos and yeah, I knew right away BTS & ARMY found you. Welcome to the family. Borahae!💜

@@ThisRoscoe basically his (Suga) parents didn’t support him pursuing his dreams of becoming a rapper. I think it could directed to them because the anthem is to live one’s life how one wants not how others or parents wants them too. But I take the line “I’ll forgive you” - as speaking to himself. By living the life as he please, he opens himself to making mistakes or even failing. So it’s like him saying don’t worry if you make mistakes, I’ll forgive you.

I 100% agree with this, too! I voted for music videos first because I feel like that's how most people get into BTS - through their music and their MVs. Once you get hooked on those, it's natural to want to know more about them. The classic "I just wanted to know their names"....and that's when you fall into the rabbithole. XD But yes, I prefer it when a reactor goes by their gut and creates their own journey. It's fun to see what each person gravitates towards!

Little advice if it is easier you can watch the MV first then rewatch it with cc if that is easier. Don’t worry about long videos we will watch them if it is about BTS. Lol. (However do what you want) BTS music always has a message…sometimes it can be hard to understand what they talking because their is a Korean references. I recommend the explanation video for Fire by MiniDance…it might help you understand more if you want… Loved your authenticity and genuine reaction!!! Also their videos are amazing because they use very little CGI. They try to use as little as possible based on what the songs are about… Edit: I forgot to mention…BTS came from a company that had little money so as you watch their older video to their new videos you can how they evolved not just with music but with money as well… Edit 2: Don’t change how you react…always stay honest and genuine

First of all, the title 불타오르네 FIRE meaning of burning up fire also includes the meaning of courage arise. "Fire" has meanings such as "Burning Youth" and "Let's acknowledge reality and burn the present moment actively." What Suga says at the beginning and end of the song will also be the core of the message. Realistically, "I'll forgive the Haters". In terms of lyrics, it can be interpreted as "I will forgive you even if you live your own way (strmble, get drunk, mess up, livin like beep)." In terms of literature, This frustration and desire for self-destruction can sometimes be a source of inspiration. Destruction produces inspiration. Just as birds break eggs, breaking existing things creates new things. That's also the storytelling of their "WINGS" short films and the music video of "Blood Sweat Tears." In particular, the title "Fire" of their "Young Forever : the most beautiful moment in my life" album dramatically shows the process of destruction → creation. Their cry of "burn them all" implies the younger generation's desire to find new things through destruction. So at the end of the song, the part where Suga says, "I'll forgive you" is meaningful. "Forgiveness" can only be done by those who have "power." Those who wander, those who suffer from self-pity and self-hatred, and those who are weak say to those who follow, "It's okay, I'll forgive you even if you commit a crime like me." I can't say "Don't be afraid." After shaking off the boundaries of reality that tied him to him, only those who can confront the world based on their own standards can boldly say, "I'll forgive you." This song is a part of the story that the album is trying to tell. about "YOUTH". I found your attitude toward the BTS MV so impressive and enjoyable. Wouldn't your next music video be "Dope"? I'm so excited If you watch the MV you listened to while exercising,.Thank you so much. 감사합니다.

If you aren't used to reading captions while watching something it can be a little overwhelming. Some reactors run through the MV twice, once for visuals and once for lyrics. Some reactors watch the MV once for visuals and then read through the lyrics on Doolset. Some reactors watch once without stopping and then go back and rewatch and pause while analyzing and others pause and talk periodically as they go through it the first time. There honestly isn't a right way, just what works for you.

First, that was SO fun! Thank you so much for the reaction, it made my day 💜 Second, I did watch the video you made for your nephew a couple weeks go, it was beautiful. BTS & ARMY will definitely resonate with you. RM struggled early on with his identity as an artist vs. an idol because of hate comments he was getting from the unground hip hop scene, the kpop fans, just all sides. He's the group's leader & is very good at his job but when he got into the booth for his 1st mixtape, he let it all out. He has a song called "Do You" which was his response to people & society trying to define him. There's a m/v for the song but no captions (RM's 1st mixtape songs didn't get captions on their videos for some reason) but both the visual & the song are SO GOOD. Even if you don't do a reaction to it, I highly recommend it since you're an early RM bias 😊

Suga is speaking in sattori (dialect). He comes from Daegu in Korea, and when he was constructing this song, by chance he thought it would be fun to use a local slang for 'I'm furious' as the opener and hook. 'Burning up' is meant as "I'm on fire with anger about something". The "I'll forgive you" at the end is closing the 'fight'/argument implied by the video, also in Daegu sattori.

Great first video This song gives me YOLO energy According to what I've learned about Korea there is great pressure on the youth especially regards to education amongst other things. Live like theres no tomorrow not comparing yourself to others and not being afraid of failure is some of the things that I take from this as i turn 40 in this new year which i can relate to. Not reaching a certain goal as a i reach this milestone has weighted heavily on my mind recently so I especially needed to hear this song right now. So thanks for that. As an Army who has been around since 2017 technically i don't always look at the lyrics everytime I listen to the song so reading those words with you has reassured me somewhat to not be so hard on myself and to be proud of the accomplishments that I have achieved.

Bts is very diverse with their music I think that’s important to note.BTS are a band who do not conform to set rules and limitations. They like to to explore their capabilities and try out different styles and genres of music. Since they are among the few K-pop bands who write their own music, they have the freedom and free rein to do that. BTS have grown a lot as the years passed by. In the beginning, their songs and music videos were dark and challenging. Now they’ve moved on to light and cheerful songs with pleasant MVs. It shows how much their personalities and mindsets have changed for the better. To sum it up, as BTS changed so did their music, but they are still the same boys from 9 years ago who only dared to dream about being recognized.

First of all, AWESOME FIRST START into our boys! I have been patiently waiting to see where you would officially start and I gotta say I was spot on! lol I did vote on your poll and chose a music video since that's what attracted you. I am so happy that you took your time to pause, rewind and comment on the lyrics. BTS are so much more than your typical boy band, which you will discover more as you go on this journey. I am a 45 year old woman who still acts and thinks like she is 25 so I can TOTALLY relate to what you said lol. It's all about a positive mindset right? Now your question as to where to go from here? Honestly there is no right answer. I say just go with the flow since our boys do have a TON of content. I'm talking dance practices, award performances, their own reality shows, travel shows, their daily vlogs, movies, documentaries and so much more! I saw that one of my fellow ARMY's listed an awesome website to get lyric translations that have cultural references that we non Korean's might not know about and I HIGHLY recommend you check that out. There are 3 main KZbin channels that you may also want to keep since they also have TONS of content on there. I will leave links below. Firstly BTS's own personal youtube channel, BANGTANTV (kzbin.info). This channel uploads everything from their mv's to the behind the scenes of making mv's to their famous Bangtan Bombs where we see them be their naturally goofy selves. Second channel is our ARMY made & run channel that translates whatever is on BangtanTV, BangTanSubs (kzbin.info). For older BTS content (prior to 2017? 2018?) you may want to check them out for translations since BangtanTV in it's earlier days did not provide translations so ARMY's volunteered and added them. Thirdly, BTS's company, BigHit Entertainment's youtube channel, HYBE Labels (kzbin.info). This channel uploads official content not just for BTS, but all the other artists under their company. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask since ARMY's are always willing to help out.

I’m so happy you enjoyed it so much! My interpretation of “I’ll forgive you” is a continuation of “Dope” I don’t know if you heard it or not but at the beginning of the video Dope is playing in the background, Fire is actually the continuation of Dope. When Dope came out they were still very much underdogs. In Dope they talk about people looking down on them but they worked hard through everything they put all the effort into their craft and are not going to let anyone stop them because they know they are awesome. Fire is after they got some major recognition and they are basically telling their haters “see what we did? We were not going to let you bring us down” At the same time they’re also telling people even if they did fail that’s OK it’s part of life. In the end they forgave their haters for hating on them because it made them stronger.

the intro scaring you made me scream laughing. I agree keeping track of visuals and the lyrics is difficult, its okay if you watch first to focus on one and then watch another time to focus on the other, whether on or off camera, cause you catch different things each time. The super Nintendo kid is V (Kim Taehyung) he's the 2nd youngest member (currently 27), a vocalist and his identifying factors are his big eyes and very deep voice. The blue haired kid is RM (Kim Namjoon) he's the middle child in terms of age, the leader of the group and a rapper, he's normally one of the ones new people can recognize easily, he's the tallest and the only one fluent in English. He writes alot of their music, even solo projects for the other members. Also you can watch different versions of the same songs cause they always change it up, so for example dance practices & live performances never get old, they add new elements by performing remixes and adding dance breaks, they are incredible performers.

the only way to react is your own way to react. In fact it will depend on the personality of each one and what affects them the most. As long as it is authentic there is no right or wrong way to react. There will be some songs that will touch you more than others, there may even be songs that you won't like, that's normal.

Loved the reaction and that you added your own anecdotes. :) I'll try and give a few pieces of info... but just know, it's your channel, you do things in whatever order you want. :) 1. Never worry about ARMY watching long videos, trust me they will watch however long the video, lol, but if you are concerned you can always break it into a part 1 and part 2 2. The dance you really like, is infamously nicknamed 3:33 for where it is in the video... the dance is so amazing, performed live. 3. I'd say the "I'll forgive you" is a culmination of the song which is basically telling the youth, it's ok to screw up, it's ok to make mistakes at this age, embrace it and drink, etc.... and then suga says basically, "Don't worry, whatever you do, I forgive you" 4. And since the guy in all black with his face covered can be a bit confusing... it's used in a few videos to interpret a hater, which was why when Suga shook his hand while clicking the song on, he started to burn up... 5. when you are ready to watch a documentary type, the Asian theory one is probably a nice one to begin with as a starter... but like I said, you do you... whatever order makes you happy, don't let anyone dictate it. :)

"I forgive you" is, to me, in reference to people who talk crap and put pressure on them to be something more or better or different. It's the clap back in the song followed by the "I'm wiling to let this go."

At the end Suga say's 'I forgive you' that's aimed at those who are telling the youth they have to have a goal/dream and work extra hard and it's causing a high right school children committing suicide because they just can't cope with society expectations. Also at those in society who tell the youth that their dreams are not right doesn't go with society norms etc.

On the eve of my 53rd birthday, French living in New Zealand, proud BTS ARMY. Enjoyed your reaction video and looking forward to watching your journey; I’ve been in this Bangtan ish for over 3 years and I love watching people discovering them as it reminds me of that feeling of my jaw dropping, of being constantly surprised, and always, always learning something (about music, about producing, about the poetry and the power of their lyrics, about their hard work… you get the gist😂), and as many have said before, looking forward to the long explanation videos. The amount of BTS content can be a bit overwhelming, but as you mentioned, just follow your guts. We love genuine reactions 💜

Oh, you kind of hit the sweet spot with your know how, enthusiasm and simply the fact that you showed us enjoying the music and visuals. I, personally, absolutely loved this reaction as it made me grin - I'm 43, but I kind of got stuck at 17, ahahah. This group reminded me of how good it feels to just be me, and do everything I love, which lead me back to my dream of reaching the stars. Literally, as I'm now studying Remot Sensing. One day, I'll be working with satellites while blasting BTS because yes. Anyway, thank you for sharing, and keep those reactions coming

Loved your reaction; thanks! If you liked the message of the song, you're going to love BTS. After enjoying their songs without the lyrics, you would think they were famous for the songs themselves; then after seeing their dance moves, you might think it was because of their dance moves and hard choreo; then you look at their MVs and think okay, this is awesome, this has to be it; but at the end of the day, for me personally, the reason no other group measures up to BTS (or even comes close) is the fact that they are deep thinkers and use their talents to try to bring about positive changes (lyrics are paramount with BTS), and of course, the fact that they are very humane, humble, and yet hilarious goofballs. To address your comments and questions, the guy with swag was RM (formerly known as Rap Monster), the leader of the group. RM is obviously his stage name, and his own name is Namjoon. Regarding Suga's "I'll forgive you" at the end, BTS received a loooooooooooot of hate, so my understanding of the "I'll forgive you" is that it's related to that. Kind of saying throughout the song, "Hey, we are who we are; it's our life, so we're going to live as we like and I'm not going to pay attention to the haters, and you just mind your own business." and then after burning up everybody's expectations and starting over, etc., he says "I'll forgive you." I might be wrong, though. I'm glad you started with the MVs before the introduction videos, btw. Have fun; you're in for a heck of a ride, but I think you'll really enjoy it all. P.S. Can you imagine dancing that hard and singing at the same time? 🤯 P.P.S. Army love seeing new people going down the rabbit hole, so it might have been a good idea to tag your video with things like "BTS first reaction", etc. Help the algorithms, etc. Just a suggestion.

when you mentioned dutch angle and you shoot video for a living, I was like, oooohh ok, you'll have fun with BTS contents for sure because there's so much to talk about in terms of cinematography and the artistry and symbolisms in their music video and their other contents. Their production level is top tier. Blood, Sweat & Tears; Spring Day and On are among their music videos with so much symbolisms. Black Swan is * chef's kiss *. On Kinetic Manifesto Film is another interesting one to watch. They shot that at Sepulveda Dam in LA. Save Me music video is a one-take music video. Heartbeat music video is visually so beautiful and the song is one of my fav so I have a soft spot for that video. BTS also have a storyline called Bangtan Universe, if you're into storyline kind of thing. The storyline runs through multiple music videos, albums, webtoon, short films, books, games, etc. It's very complicated and can be VERY overwhelming especially if you're new to BTS lol. And their live performances especially at award show - MMA (especially 2018, 2019, 2020) are spectacular. Imagine having a 40-minutes long performance at an award show. ONLY BTS! These performances could beat any super bowl performances 😜😜

You did great on your 1st reaction! The kid playing the SNES is V (Kim Taehyung) and he's my bias (favorite) although I love all 7 (OT7). I see you too fell victim to our President (ARMY inside joke), RM's (Kim Namjoon) commanding presence. Trying to watch the MV and read the lyrics can be challenging so you can split them up (I recommend doolset lyrics and not one of the fan made lyric vids as the translations are sometimes not accurate). Looking forward to the next reaction! 💜 P.S. The Fire dance practice is amazing!

Thanks, Adrienne! I think that is a great idea to split the lyrics/video up... but for clarification, do you mean 1 reaction of just the lyrics, and then a different one of the video, or could I just smash it all into one? I know everyone says the time length doesn't matter so much; I'm just curious as to how you visualize it.

I second this. I myself watch a video at least 3-4 times 😊 For a first impression just watch the video. Get a feeling for the vibe, the visuals, music etc. Then go back, turn on capitions and check lyrics. See if they fit your overall first impression of the mv. 😊 Or you can watch the mv and then pull up doolset's website to go thru the lyrics.

Wow, already 600+ comments… I’m so late! 😅 you’re one of the rare reactors I’ve seen who came into this through the music first and I’m so glad you’re finally starting to delve deeper into BTS - from watching some of your other videos, and your answers to various comments, I think there’s a good chance that BTS will speak to you and that you’ll get a good amount of enjoyment/value out of this experience should you choose to pursue it. Was looking forward to seeing your first reaction all this while and enjoyed so much! You might also get a huge kick out of their dance practice videos and live performances as well. It will probably get difficult for you to respond to everyone if you continue to grow, so I hope you don’t feel overwhelmed that you won’t be able to. I thought you made a good call to go with your gut despite the poll results, which gave us a great first reaction video. So just keep doing you (“Do You” is a great solo song by Mr Swaggy - RM - by the way), and enjoy the ride!

@@ThisRoscoe 🤣🤣You're not the only one! Seems guys in the West are now really connecting with his vibe. He certainly has presence and his talent is insane. He and Suga are the main writers for the group....... Seriously tho - if you like lyrics that actually mean something - you have come to the right place. RM has said he wants to make us think. ... Far cry from most of the music out there. .... BTS remind me of Queen - they do multiple genres, they are constantly evolving musically and they are consummate performers. (Not sure if you know Queens music - you are younger than me) But BTS is more than just the music - it is the message that is most impressive. I think you will definitely gel with their ethos., especially when you described the video you made for your nephew - you will want to hear the messages BTS is spreading! - they are vocal and active in promoting antiviolence, antibullying, self love and self development, teen and female empowerment, kindness, charity, they address mental health issues, cyber bullying and hatred, racism, they break gender barriers/steroetypes and are outspoken regarding socio-economic and societial injustice.

I loved experiencing this with you! Hearing that you value positive messages and appreciate filmmaking, I know you are going to go nuts for BTS. A production company called Lupens has done most of their MVs, and some of them are TRULY epic. Pause and replay as much as you want to, this is YOUR journey, so just do what genuinely gets you excited and interested. For us watching, it's a way to relive the excitement of discovery. :-) As for BTS introduction videos, just make sure to choose one from 2020 or 2021. The last few years have been huge for them, so depending on the nature of the vid, older ones will be significantly incomplete.
