I'm an older (much older) Army! I can see past the hype and actually agree with you. It felt personal, it felt he was talking to us. I love everything Jin does and love this song. As soon as I saw this I KNEW it was to/for Army. The Astronaut was a more somber song musically, showing his love and gratitude, as we would be separated for a long while. A very heartfelt love song. I try to remember that the separation is just as hard for them as it is for us, maybe more with all they have to deal with in the military. ITB is very upbeat exuberant song. Still sharing his love and devotion while celebrating with Army our being together again and reasserting that connection. Here’s my take on that, at the beginning he was singing for nobody and then the little kids sat down to watch and listen, a little by little more people showed up and at the end when he was by himself he was still singing. He will always be singing for us even if there is nobody around and he was wanting to reassure us of that. He will always sing and be there for us 💜
