Man, I sure miss your old television series. It was one of the best "how-to" shows made other than the TOH franchise. Keep up your great work and inspiration for idiots like me. Good job sir, cheers!

Gotta love that one of the only times Jimmy talks on one of his videos specifically about the design that he doesn't talk about how he forgot to account for the width of the bit so all the joints have a significant amount of play. Best of luck on future CNC projects. I think that stool has a nice look.

"it's not one of my most beautiful designs..." Equine excrement, sir. There is an inherent beauty in the simplicity of one material and the economy of utilizing only one sheet of goods for it. You also understand how to use the material to its own advantage; the Baltic Birch isn't being required to do anything it can't. As an exercise in the use of both the machine and the material, I think it's excellent. I could easily imagine slight modifications: do away with the built-up circular rings and in their place, use some short steel stand-offs from each leg and a tubular steel ring, welded to a closed loop for a foot rest. You might get two stools from a single sheet this way? Thanks Jimmy, as always, and all the best, sir.

really like the design personally. a cnc is years off for me still but it gets closer the more I see being made and I feel you are closing down some of the what ifs for the end user with simple but effective stuff like this. one ofs are vey impressive from a cnc but something like this stool that is a staple object show off the tools abilities for everyday use. I wonder what else you or anyone could do that's similarly simple. great vid man.

sucky part about using hot glue as a hold down is it tears the shit out of the waste board, i guess using the sacrificial piece fixes that issue to some degree. good thinking!
@kraftybeard42728 жыл бұрын
Maybe if you coated the wasteboard with some finish it might peel away cleanly? But you will always get some cut marks from the bit plunging through your material anyway so will be sacrificial to some extent.

@TheDerpMan97 жыл бұрын
If you ever do something that has your name engraved into it you should put some of the sawdust and epoxy(or resin I don't really know what he mixes with the saw dust), but you should put some of the mix where you're name is engraved and sand it nice and smooth and the letters will be a darker color than the rest of whatever project you're working on, but the color difference between the sawdust mix and the rest of your project will more depend on if your using a dark wood or a lighter wood for your project.

I've been thinking about getting an X-carve for my wood working and I've seen a lot of mixed reviews in regards to its reliability and dependability. A lot of people are saying that you have to constantly adjust the belts and recalibrate pretty much after every use. Have you run into any issues with the x carve? And would you recommend it to others? If yes, why and if not, why not?
@BunnyFett8 жыл бұрын
Would be better to adjust the cutout measurements instead of using gap fillers, but learning is part of life. Either way, CNC is amazing. There's a channel called CNC Technology that I love watching as well. Coding it all would be even more fun.

Anyone else notice that the cut path wasn't setup properly, so that when assembled there were big gaps that had to be filled, rather than all the pieces coming together with nice slip fits? Would have been nice if Jimmy aknowledged the error, even if he was able to correct it with a lot of glue and shimming.
