so real! I cannot figure out why each time I look at a value it appears lighter than it really is. Just like in your shading above the eye, I honestly thought it was too dark, but when you darkened the lines above and under it, the contrast made the middle area the exact same value as the photo!! I just cannot see why my reading of the values is so far off! 😅😅😅 I wonder if anybody else has this problem?!?! 😅😅😅
@DirkDzimirsky3 жыл бұрын
That’s normal and everyone has that problem since we see everything in relation to the surrounding. Learning to draw means learning to see neutral and that means to tame your brain which is usually screwing up your vision.

I may only be 13 but what I've learned is to think of learning in art differently, practice also helps alot, but really drawing and impressing yourself helps even more, it's all in belief. You think people who doubt they can do anything get anywhere? No, so it's best to go ahead and try
@DirkDzimirsky3 жыл бұрын
First, you should always do what you like to do and never listen to anyone’s advice if it doesn’t feel right for you. Having said that, I usually wouldn’t recommend Hyperrealism as a starting point to learn how to draw. There is a lot of misconceptions about it and not much to actually learn from it. But the worst is, that it can lead to a lot of frustration for beginners and in the end you might think you couldn’t draw and give up drawing altogether. I recommend learning basic drawing first. That is the right way to do it, in my opinion, and you learn much faster. After that you can pretty much draw in any style or technique you want so much easier. But again, that is only my advice. We are all different and the way we learn best varies. Good luck and stay creative!

Ok, I'm wanting to make realism fantasy or just ideas I have come to life like this. How do you get the white (lighting and water tones) on the paper like that? Is it oil paint, silicone? Lighting and gradient angle is something I am struggling with, sometimes I gradient the opposite direction; must be lighting-miscalcula or some such I don't know. : )
