Very interesting information. I live in New Mexico where we have the Desert Rocky Mountains. It is extremely hard to hunt out here but he has made some valid points and debunked myths that I was following. I can speak from experience deer can be anywhere at any time.

Very informative series. Learned a lot and dispelled some myths. You mentioned rut latitudes. What would it be in Southeast Alabama?

Any tips on finding buck bedding areas . i can find the doe but not the bucks
@20cameron16 жыл бұрын
josh wade I’m new at this game but I will say I’ve noticed that the doe was on the ridge and the buck was down below, but not at valley. What I have also taken to heart is imagine the absolute hardest spots to hunt and look in there-no one else hunts there, tons of ridges, mountain Laurel is heavy, water very close by. Find places that if you were a buck visibility is great but not for hunters or other potential threats. Sometimes the beds I’ve seen were up against trees and sometimes not because cover was heavy.

He is right by saying that you get into his core area. However, he is wrong by "getting closer and closer". The first sit you should be as close as you can get without getting caught. And kill him then. If you think you can keep creeping up 25 yards every sit your wrong. After you leave that first evening sit he will walk by that area and peg that whole area as bad and leave that area entirely. As a teen I hunted the way he mentioned and it worked occasionally. I now hunt in a way that I stay out of an area until the every detail is right. Perfect weather, wind, temp, etc. And when I go in, I try to set up 70 yards or less from their bed, and I catch them by utter surprise. You have to have patience for this style of hunting and you have to be mobile. You also need to scout and scout alot in February thru March. And then stay out, meaning no cameras, no food plots, no walking the perimeter, nothing! Then when the perfect storm aligns go in and plan to get him that night.

Clint Ward Agreed. When I started I jumped right into the core area. He was so close I’m surprised he didn’t show himself. I was downwind-he was not. He kept circling and getting farther away trying to get my scent. Next time I go in will be from a completely different area. My problem is he’s in a bowl and everything is in mountain laurel. His bed is less than 100 ft from where I park-it right off a mountain highway.

I have a friend that i hunt with he's a realtor and is always looking on his phone , I keep on telling him Dude what are you out for deer hunting or selling houses put your phone away and be still watch with you binoculars for movement, a couple of years ago a 4 pointer comes walking in at his bait plye he puts his phone down takes a shot at this 4 pointer and mess up his shot he got bucks fervor I guaranteed he had it and missed the shot I really hate hunting with Unexperience hunters. I am still trying to kill my first Buck so I am going too keep watching your clips until I become successful in getting my First Buck thank you.

Obviously he has not hunted Michigan. It is one of the most pressured states for hunting. Jeff from whitetail habitat solutions is more knowledgeable. Stay away from the hype of states like kansas Iowa Montana Wyoming. Not alot of hunters that's why deer get so huge.
