Dirt N Iron Anytime bro, I just tell it like it is 😀 The putting a rad fan in is a great idea too, whenever my buddies on atvs come riding with us they go pretty slow and my kx450f was always overheating. My rads ended up getting damaged and I put in the oversized ones and they extra 40% capacity definitely helps out but the odd time on a hot day she'll still overheat so I think I'll look into putting a fan in. Was thinking of mounting a 6 cell 18650 lithium ion battery pack to run a led headlight so this is even more reason to do it lol

Thanks for your answer ! The reason why i don't mention the source of this study is that i fear they bend in the future under the economical pressure of filter manufacturers to come back on their statement. But one precision : oiled filter, yes, absolutely, but to what i understood from the different points of view i heard, i wouldn't hurry to clean it through too often, and that the feeling of dried-up oil-coating is rather positive. But there's also a difference between where you live (dry-desert-dusty landscape), and where i live and ride, barely dusty and regularly subject to rain. Thanks again.

thats why i use shell rotella, i buy 1 gallon which lasts for 5 oil changes, I pay around $3-4 for one oil change... and I am sure that my engine has good protection. there is plenty of guys who change their oil each ride, at least here in US.. those engines need to have new oil often, its very small amount of oil, it gets worn out quickly plus those small engines pumps a lot of power and high RPM..

Dirty air filter does not cause engine life problems. a dirty filter filters better than a clean one. think about it for a minute. I'm not saying to leave it dirty but it doesn't hurt a thing... unless it's so clogged it causes performance issues but then again that doesn't really hurt the engine, just performance.
@dirtniron7 жыл бұрын
+Bill Malec I think once your sticky oil gets all saturated by dust, then it won't catch any more small particles going thru the foam and those small particles will scratch the cylinder and piston. That's how I see it.
@billmalec7 жыл бұрын
Dirt N Iron wrong. why does the filter keep getting dirtier and dirtier then? because it sticks to the dirt. nothing is getting past the filter.
@dirtniron7 жыл бұрын
+Bill Malec yes the filter is getting dirtier all the time because there still are more particles caught on the filter, but can we say with certainty that 100% of those particles is caught once the filter is very dirty? I am not so confident in that. You might be right, either way it's good to clean it and let your engine breathe freely.
@benson4u2157 жыл бұрын
Dirt N Iron Ive only cleaned my filter once in the motors 800mile life @475miles, oils been changed three times, four spark plugs with three being the same gap and the newest one being around .013mm hotter of a gap, exhaust baffle drilled out to relieve some backpressure (its real with this motor having major idle hang) 142 dynojet m.j. 6th clip from bottom on the needle with the faster vacuum spring on. my usual riding area is anywhere from 2000'-7300' in altitude and I'll tell you the air filter doesnt make too much of a difference except for 1. protecting and 2. keeping air flowing. somehow mine only has two quarter sized dirt patches and a dime sized one imbetween those two. its been fun tuning a 2015 dr200... even though its a 4stroke I still add some premix at 75/1 when possible for the lil rev happy thumper. head temps been noticeably cooler premixing aswell, id recommend rubbing some bearing grease on the air inlet walls of the air box so dust thats caught in a turbulence isnt as likely to go straight in :)
@cjmarcel29717 жыл бұрын

@dirtniron7 жыл бұрын
thanks bro, I like 4 strokes as well, they are great on track and right 4 stroke is really fun on the trails as well. If you run your bike lean it will tent to overheat, so make sure you have good mixture or maybe stay little more on a rich side. you need air flow to cool it down, so slow technical terrain will cause it to overheat..

i have a 1996 cr250r. couple years ago i went up to my cottage and fired it up. i checked the oil in the case and it was full so i took it out. i got 2 minutes into the trail and all of the sudden i started losing power. before i knew it i came to a complete stop and white smoke came out of the tailpipe. i looked down and 5w30 oil was spewing out. i checked it out a couple months ago and the bottom of the case is cracked. do you think if i jb weld the case really good ill be good? or do you think a major malfunction happened internally? i just bought another 96 and it runs great. i would like to get the first one ripping again too. i love that bike.

in which consist a ride exactly?? you change the filter every ride and that equals how many hours?
@dirtniron4 жыл бұрын
2-4h probably, check out the filter visually and see if it needs to be cleaned. Depends on the conditions, dry dusty trails get your filter dirty quick..

Great video! You should probably use special dirt bike oil. I don't know much about why, but I do know there is a wet clutch thing in the special dirt bike oil that helps a lot, and it makes your clutch system last much longer. The problem with regular oil is it's not made for a bike with a clutch.

+Ethan Smith absolutely, you should not use regular engine oil, it has to be made for wet clutch. Shell rotella works great.

I am not lazy but every 2 rides for oil and every ride for one filter change or clean it’s kinda bull, yea your bike might run better but I don’t think you need to be that worried
