When you pour oil from a new can, turn the can sideways or even have the spout at the top, it reduces the problem of air being drawn in and making the oil 'glug' which is how you spill it ;)

If you are going to be working on dozers you need to get a 6 lb sledgehammer and cut the handle to 16 inches, it's great for tight area persuasion. Have a great day.

What Sparky said... oil pour point at the top and the can gets air, doesn't glug out. Awful small machine for most jobs but throw it in back of a flatbed truck to move. Not sure that you gained much ground cutting off the part that you did.

Wish I knew what you paid for your dozer. A man wants to sell me his Cat D3 for $4,000 but it doesn't steer either direction. It runs well but I need to drive 180 miles to go look it over good. It is also going to cost me $800 or more to get it home.

You know you can sharpen those disk by cutting them in a smaller circle I had a few backing disks different sizes . Your weld could also be from the shielding gas blowing away or not enough pressure .

I am working on a restoration of a Massey Ferguson Tractor. I would like to know what type of paint you would recommend for the engine/gearbox housings. I know there are enamels, single stage urethanes etc... what would work best for a DIY spray job in a home garage.
@TheGoodoftheLand
@TheGoodoftheLand 2 жыл бұрын
Both are good choices, just make sure to checkout reviews on the actual product you use. Some never get hard and require a bit more hardener or catalyst than recommended. Single stage of any kind is notorious for massive amounts of overspray so build a cheap plastic sheeting booth to spray in. Buy a cheap harbor freight hvlp gun and watch a KZbin video on setting up the proper spray pattern. Single stage tends to be thick so you should be fine with a 1.8 spray nozzle gut you will have to move quickly as it puts out alot more material than a 1.4. If you want to take your time get the 1.4 tip and if the paint it to thick you can reduce it. Keep in mind that if you reduce the paint it will take longer to dry (flash). Spray light overlaping coats and let the previous coat become tacky before you spray the next. If you run the paint do not try to fix it. Let it dry and sand it smooth after the fact then spray that area again. I will have a video out soon on the entire process.

Watch as andrew camarata replaces the starter using a chainsaw and an excavator and it gets smashed for no reason. Then he spends $10,000 on a new attachment for his skid steer and $30,000 on another piece of equipment and it gets smashed for no reason as he tows it up the side of a mountain through a mud river. That's a beautiful dozer.

When you're done greasing the zerts, don't forget to grease the zerks - they are small nipple-like fittings you put the grease gun over and inject grease into the desired location.

If you are going to do much of the "gas axe" removal it would make sense to invest in a couple of scarfing tips. It saves a lot of time and destruction of parts.

did this dude just say dozers aren’t made to back drag 😂
@TheGoodoftheLand

I guess a better way to put it would be" They are designed to push not pull. They can pull and back drag but it can cause damage easier than pushing" its rare and in this case whoever had this unit literally ripped the blade off doing it wrong. Hope that helps, I don't always say what I mean in the video and I'm to lazy to re shoot 😅

I'm assuming your talking about the blade. Simple answer is I'm a total noob when it comes to operating a dozer. What you are seeing is actually my very first time pushing a pile.what I have learned over the past few months of running her is that there is a much steeper learning curve to a dozer as opposed to most other equipment. I have a new found respect for dozer operators. It's a smaller unit which makes it more difficult to grade a nice smooth surface. I find myself relying on my kubota svl97 for the majority of the finish work. I have to force myself to use the dozer because the skid steer is so good at what it does.

Actually could have made it myself in the shop but with heavy equipment it's Actually cheaper for me to just purchase the part. It cost me a few thousand dollars every day I'm in the shop and not on the job. I had to learn this the hard way. It's tough for me because I have the skills, the tools and the desire to do it all, just not the time. Same goes for the machine. Had to be repaired in one day, no time for the machine shop. Cat knows this and makes a killing with their service trucks. Most other manufacturers haven't quite caught up.Hope that helps.
