Thank you for posting your video. The geared side of our brush roller was seized. Curious. There were hair pins caught in it as well. That must have caused the roller to overheat, then fuse the plastic end. Because you took the brush roller apart, I was able to see where ours was not spinning freely (on the seized side). Ordered a new one and we’re all good and running again!

I guess you don’t need super stiff bristles to clean carpets. Unless heavy debris like sand is common.

Thank you for the video. I took out the roller brush to give it a hair cut. When I went to put it back in, the roller brush is not turning. The motor is working. The roller rolls by hand while I have the cog side in. When I install the other side and try to make sure it rolls like in your video, it won't budge. Could you offer any advice?

I use a feather duster to clean my shark apex dust cup and someday i'm getting Febreze filters for my Shark Apex AZ1002 with sent of Gain just like Bissell

The only reason anyone could possibly ever look at a tutorial about a vacuum cleaner to figure out how to change the fucking belt and you intentionally skipped over it. Holy shit.

I didn't "intentionally" skip anything. The belt is not a part Dirt devil makes available. The belt is geared, it is not a rubber belt that frequently requires replacing like the cheaper dirt devil models use. If you can find a belt, pulling off the old belt and replacing it with a new belt is very simple, simply aligning it with the motor spindle as the old belt was. Perhaps being less rude may have yielded a more preferable response, at least in a universe where I controlled the parts availability of the company that manufactured this machine.

I can’t get one of the end caps off, the side not connected to the belt. It’s stuck, it actually doesn’t move at all. Any suggestions on how to get it off to inspect the bearing?

Try gently prying it off with a screwdriver

I can’t seem to pop the cap off of the smooth end of the brushroll. Is my brushroll damaged for good?

Basically, the other cap that doesn’t hold the belt isn’t spinning for me; and I’m trying to take it out and it won’t come off.. it doesn’t even spin. not sure exactly why. If you have any idea why and can give some advice please let me know. I’ve been trying to figure it out and nothing is working.

@@derekbrandt3999 it was a replacement for the brush roll hehehe! Basically the other cap on the brush roll was suppose to spin, but it was broken and locked so bad it didn’t work. If that’s the same issue then yes get you a new brushroll
