Italians most likely did not feel the need for all-wheel drive until the mid-80s. Their lancia moved very agile, although the absolute amount of grip was small. It was only after they saw a perfectly moving Peugeot, not an Audi with a heavy understeer.

After playing an entire event with my ford escort I tried out the Polo R5 in the R5 group. Let's just say that it's like comparing a Rottweiler to a Chihuahua. The rottweiler is notoriously aggressive and unpredictable, and the chihuahua can get out of control if you don't keep your eyes on it.

Man I first learned how to drive good in dirt rally with RWD only with it being predominantly using the e30 as you sit high and the car is nice and long and predictable. I started using AWD cars and I found it so twitchy until I got used to it with the eco lancer. Now RWD is so drifty when I play with RWD. I’m going back to driving mostly RWD now. It’s a lot more fun

Though, in WRC 8, the steering wheel mooves to little like in DiRT rally (for me at least) and WRC 7, that’s a reason why i don’t like the first person in 8. I just use dashcam anyways😁

Is that because you have a tight rear acceleration differential, and braking activates it? May as well just use a tight deceleration differential and release the gas with zero preload. So it switches quicker. Adjusting toe helps to.

Aside from happy tails, the devs apparently did not have a car to test have a handbrake works. Pullitg it in the game immediatelly spins the car, ewen in a straight line, while irl you have to pull the brake while starting the turn to slide the rear That's why people still play rbr, it feels the most real

RWD has a tendency to oversteer a lot. If you wanna fix it get into the settings and make sure to let your back wheels turn "inwards" to a certain degree, this helps a bit, but not by much. This is also the reason why rwd cars in rallying died out, because the oversteer is so hard that you are bound to crash OR you like to have a challenge. The only advantage is that you almost never have to deal with understeer.

i drive the Stratos in a club championship. I think having the right steering wheel angle/ saturation matters a lot.

Driving a RWD car with a steering wheel must be a level easier than with just a controller. The more minute controls surely allow you better mastery over exactly where your front wheels are pointed. I just know I can't go more than 10 seconds (or 2 curves) without spinning tf out when using a controller.

i use a wheel and i can say... if you new on wheel the game is much harden than controller... i played controller before and on wheel you have much more to think about what you doing next, you dont make all with your hands, you need to handel right pedal play (foots) and right wheel play + shifter ... sometimes you have 3 thinks on same time to do ... i mean it sounds dumb cause every guy who ever drive in real thinks "oh its easy i can do that" ... no you cannot, its complety other think than real driving

@@GeheimerEimer1996 I agree with all you say. Using a wheel, pedals, handbrake and shifter (which I now have) all add complexity to the mix, no doubt. ESPECIALLY is you use manual clutch too. But another reason it's harder to you because you've done it for so long with a controller. Once you get good with a wheel, I'd bet switching back to controller would feel odd for a while. And as you practice, building those new neuronal connections in your noggin, things get easier and easier, and you progress. I've already seen a good bit of progression in games other than rally racers; now to get good at the off-road stuff -- which is gonna take a while. It's a wholly different animal. Plus it being as hard as it is makes you even MORE impressed by the few aliens that can do it VERY well in real life, where the stakes are much higher if you mess up.

Very nice driving! But you can't say, that 197 km/h is pretty fast for a 225 HP car. My little Mazda 2 with it's 75 HP can go 180 km/h. For this Nissan, with it's 6 cylinder engine and 225 HP, it could go way faster with a proper transmission. Ofc. in the game it's transmission is optimaliside for Rally, that's why it ends at 197 km/h.
