That's a strong mom, she was relaxed, supportive and very chill in front of Jonah, her job was to calm him down and let him know everything was going to be ok, it didn't matter how she really felt inside, she had to get that job done.

I’m so proud of her!!! And also how she has taught her kids. He knows that meds are generally not good for his body and doesn’t want to take them but he is learning that they do have a place when it comes to surgery. It’s okay, Jonah! Your body can detox from taking medicine short term and you will be just fine! Keep listening to mama and papa.

@@tylerw1976 You said it Tyler, you wouldn't do it yourself!. If Justin prohibits Jonah from riding, when he gets older he will buy himself one and ride it either way, because that's what he likes! And you can't stop him from doing it, but you can introduce him early on to bikes on a safe environment.

@@tylerw1976 Many professional dirt bike racers began at ages much, much younger than Jonah. He could’ve obtained the same injury with a non-motorized mountain bicycle. Don’t be so quick to judge his parent’s decision to allow him to pursue an interest. He is nearly 15 and has shown admirable responsibility and reasoning abilities. This was an accident. Be kind.

Jonah, I'm an old guy (67) and just had my right hip replaced in May. Everything went well and I am fully recovered. You are young and strong and will recover fast. Just have patience and follow the advice of your doctors and physical therapists and you will be back in shape in no time. I hope you know how much your family loves you and how much viewers like us love you and will be praying for your complete recovery. As you get older you will come to realize that there will be storms that arise in everyone's life and the character you build in your life will determine how you come through them. When you have a solid foundation (which is Christ) you will find you will be able to weather any storm that comes along and will be able to give meaningful help to others that go through similar storms. I pray that God comforts you and encourages you in the coming days and that you feel the love that surrounds you and lifts you up.

Im just an EMS provider with a few years of experience in hospital and rural ems and critical care environment. I want to thank you for sharing what is really an absolutely intimate and horrifying ordeal. What is routine and everyday for us as providers can be so earth shattering and terrifying to family especially parents. I don’t have children of my own and Moving forwards I will definitely be keeping this in the back of my mind and being more communicative towards patients families and parents especially. Its a privilege to provide care at any level and thank you again for sharing this it has been eye opening from a provider standpoint. Best wishes for your son and family.

You are not JUST an EMS provider! You have a skill that many folks do not have. You have compassion for your "fellow man" you see people on their worst day and you do all you can to make it better. I agree and glad that you recognize the compassion needed to comfort not only the patient but the family as well. EMS Clinicians have a critically important role in the health care system and are not JUST EMS providers or "ambulance drivers." Thank you for your service!

Hello Jonah, I just want you to know that I’m very proud of you for enduring even more pain as you go through all the poking and prodding of surgery and IV needles and everything else that the hospital has you endure!! When I was 10 years old, on July 3, we were getting packed for a family vacation for eight children. The station wagon was packed and we were going to go down to visit our friends by Muscatine, Iowa… Maybe you can look that up on your iPad …And it was very , very hot, & and The older ones waited for their turn for a bath, we played out in the front yard I waking up games. Now, Let me explain 2 things: The little ones, as we called them I got to go first and these were the ones and they range in age from 0 to 4, and they called on the floor and in the dirt and they were always the dirtiest… So I don’t see why they got to go first!! Also, butter had to be heated on the gas stove what is the wood-burning stove… You may have one I can’t remember but I think you do. As the water got cooler, more hot water was added, & OK occasionally, as children got older and bigger, the water was changed out. 2. While baths were being given, The neighbor girl came over to visit with my older sister who is on the basketball team with my sister. To me they were giants just like my oldest brother! We went outside to play in the heat in the front yard. I’ll let me explain that the house was on the top of the hill and we played baseball in the front yard which meant all the bases had been worn down and easily despite because there was no grass there and the pitchers mound who is even easier to spot because it was a dugout half a circle because the picture would dig his foot down more and more and more &Intimidating the opposite team! However on this night we were not going to play baseball but instead, we were NOT going to Play baseball, which by the way, it what is a genuine baseball not a softball! My older brother & Nearly 7 feet tall(At least in my eyes, actually). Anyway, children go into two rows. I got into my brothers as I was scared of the neighbor girls because I didn’t know her and she scared me! The game is called “send me to the moon quote and they will take turns throwing this pie. First and once they caught you you ran to the back of the line and it would continue , until it was your turn again. About the third time my brother threw me up in the air, he didn’t catch me, and sadly, I landed on the ground right on the which was rockhard and shoulder bone in my arm was dangling straight down and it knocked the wind out of me and I told my little sister to go get Mom ! To which my older sister said, “you big baby, you’re going to get us all in trouble now and we won’t get to go on vacation… “ Which was true, we did it… But my arm was sticking down and the bone was sticking out. You’’d have to be an idiot & My Mom came running , Who was feeding the cows; quickly my mother pulled out three little ones out of the bathtub and put me in the bath because no child was ever allowed to go to town dirty LOL and quick wash Clean clothes and I was rushed to the ER. Now that things are much nicer for you they were for me because it took 4 doctors to call me down well they put a big well they tried to put me to sleep with an anesthesia mask that looked much like a a big black toilet plunger and I kept throwing up because they used because they use ether instead of anesthesia gas, not to mention they had an Old fashion piece of lumen foil with two little needles inside to poke your finger to test your blood and it took three people to hold me down and the doctor was trying to poke my finger and I kicked him in the shins of his knee and leg because it hurts so bad. Thank goodness they don’t do that anymore! It was brutal for children back then. No let me tell you about the good things in similar things… I weighed 52 2 pound so they put a cast on me… By the way I was in the Des Moines children’s blank hospital about an hour away from my family‘s farm and I was very scared because I had never been to town except a ride a school bus and then go back home I knew nothing about the city. Everything was white backs in the walls the gallons of the nurses a gallons of the doctors and there were four kids to a room. They put my arm in a cast with a 64 pound weight because the muscle had got caught between the ball and socket joint so that’s kind of what happened with you and why you and I both had to have a second surgery. They waited they said only two days but for me a day but a day turned into two days and then two days turned into three days and then a we ek and so forth just like YOU❣️ The food was terrible and the worst was pea soup. Do you get to order your own food and is it good? I hope so but again things are very different for children and they make sure you’re happy and it’s a colorful room and the nurses are really nice to kids, can you get movies and you definitely your iPad because I saw it in your video and you got pudding but I did not get it! I didn’t have any visitors from my parents about every three days because it was harvest time and we had a very big dairy farm I think they were butchering as well I don’t know much was going on and my dad farm to my grandpa’s farm as well what they came in the evening when I could. But I had an aunt that lives in Des Moines Iowa and she was a nurse and she would come in the evening and she would bring me a little presents and I remember her bringing me the book Heidi, which was a wonderful story and it’s a classic I still today, and she would read it to me but she would also sneaking food for me like onion rings that I wasn’t supposed to have, and it was the first time and it was the first time I ever got a McDonald’s fish sandwich and I loved it from then on😊❣️❣️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ mostly back then I remember that a dime was a lot of money and people would give me money when they came to is it me but unlike you, it would be nickels and dimes and sometimes a quarter but when I left there I had three dollars and some change. My mother wanted me to buy this black and white 1 inch gingham dress with a red belt but I wanted to buy a Barbie doll and I wouldn’t listen to her and I bought a Barbie doll, because I had to spend the entire summer in the hospital until one week when I got out one week before school started. You won’t have to do that though. That’s again how we are different oh my father told my mom that I had been through a lot and I could buy what I wanted and then he bought me some popcorn but my cast went clear up to my knuckles on my left arm oh and when he handed me my popcorn I couldn’t hold onto it so he put it in my right arm and but then, I could hold it with my right hand but I couldn’t get any popcorn with my left Hand because of this VERY BIIG CAST ON THE LEFT SIDE……So he said, “Eat like a horse!”… and just dip your mouth into the popcorn!!”” And we all laughed😊😄😄😄 LOL. He tore the sides down a little bit so the popcorn was easier to get to oh and I managed to spill a little but mostly eat it all out of the bag. I love my dad so much and he was very kind to me, all of his life❣️ The day before school I went to see the doctor and they cut my cast off with a little cash saw that I was sure was going to cut my skin but it doesn’t so don’t be afraid when they cut your cast off (if you get one)… and then they put a splint… Looks like a dish towel around my neck & arm to give Support to my arm was your truly need it but I wasn’t smart enough to understand Dad and of Course, just before the bus game, I took it off because I didn’t want to be Laughed at by the kids..I would put it on just when I got off the bus at home and I wore it at home so for the most part, I thought my arm was getting the support it needed. However we live in a small community and the bus driver talk to my Dad and ratted me out! I didn’t get in any trouble but we did have a conversation and he explain to me why it was dangerous what I was doing so I didn’t take it off anymore and when I went to school and I grew up with a very healthy strong arm for the farm and I was able to bail hey the next year with my siblings but in the meantime I helped my mom in the house more than anything… Ironing which I hated and Setting the table for nine or 10 people when she had another baby; and let’s not forget dishes which I also hated LOL. I definitely preferred to be outside with Daddy. Aren’t you lucky😊❣️❣️❣️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I'd rather be operated on than a kid. My mom was in the ER once & a poor kid came in with a broken arm. Or I assume it was broken since he was in so much pain he was crying & boys rarely cry at that age. My mom actually told them to take him back first. Honestly I don't see why he wasn't moved up in the order in the first place. But neither of us had to wait too long. But when a kids in pain 5-10 minutes makes a big difference. I hope your daughter heals up really well. I recently read an article about how long meds take to take effect. So if you're in a lot of pain it helps the pills dissolve faster if you like on your right side. It seems to be helping me so far.

This is one of the bravest shares from a strong young man. I'm sure if he didn't want the world to see him in such pain and anguish his parents wouldn't have included it. I had a life-threatening emergency and surgery when I was just a year or two younger than you Jonah and I could see my experience through your eyes. I shared this journey with you on a level you may not understand until you're much older. Thanks for the difficult share. I'd never seen my experience more clearly through the eyes of my parents as with your sharing this. So sorry about Jonah's hip, we just went through a similar situation earlier this year. Our 11yr old son got bucked off his horse and broke his elbow, it took surgery, 3 pins (which are thankfully removed now) and 16 weeks! for it to heal. Prayers for a much quicker recovery for Jonah's hip!

Hey Jonah. I had 4 surgeries on my feet when I was your age. I'm sorry you had to go through that, recovery is no fun. Hopefully you heal quickly and get back at it soon! Listen to your body and take care of yourself, go slow and be patient and you will be back to normal in no time.

Jonah has had a special place in my heart for years, as we've watched him grow from an adorable little boy to a resourceful, intelligent, well-spoken and responsible young man. Seeing him in pain just broke my heart. Please bring us along for Jonah's journey to healing and health -- we all love him so. I will be praying for your family, that you all be surrounded by peace and strength and clarity. Much love to all of the Rhodes Family from this Texas grandmother.

Teaching your children about the safe use of a motorcycle is often never discussed at the dealership but it often happens after a visit to the ER. I hope Jonah recovers 100%, learns about safety - from getting back on a motorcycle to hearing and eyesight safety to the fragility of life - all as he becomes a stronger adult. Please please please people learn from this. You should not NOT have a child or even adult ride a motorcycle with big floppy work boots, or fencing across your lap, or holding things in your hand that keep you from properly operating the steering, brakes and clutch. Adult supervision is also always a must until a level of proficiency is achieved in order to give children the freedom of less supervision. I never wanted to post about those safety issues noted above as I watched the past videos - I didn't want to be "that guy"..... but now I wish I had said something. Life is fragile and if you don't pay attention harder lessons come that could have been avoided.

Dear family. I have been following your videos for several years and this has allowed me to learn many aspects of agriculture and livestock farming, but above all, it has allowed me to get to know your family and to have a sincere affection for all you. That is why I was shocked by the accident of the first born, whom I have literally watched grow up, and I cannot help but express my solidarity and affection for you. I am sure that Jonah will soon recover and will be able to continue to be the good example to his brothers that he always was, as well as the first worker on the farm. From Spain, my best wishes to Jonah and all the other members of the family.
