Yeah I’m looking forward to it too. He most certainly was on a bad 450 for trail riding in the yz450f. I’ve personally not enjoyed the 500 and 450 4ts that I’ve trail ridden but I think it’s a matter of getting used to them.

Well Honda has been handing butt whooping over to everyone in fast offroad races like WORCS, Baja, and even seen success in Dakar. They have an amazing pedigree, and personally I bought this package due to the FUN FACTOR for a bigger guy like myself, and because EVERY engine builder knows about these fabulous Unicam engine with down-draft intake fuel injection technology. It cuts corners just as good, if not better than the TM, and both feel better TO ME than my ex 2020 Husqvarna... They just keep a close-ratio 5 spd transmission because this is a RACE BIKE first and foremost - with a larger 46mm downdraft intake and a combination of rocker arms and finger followers with shorter stroke and LARGE bore. It is a beast and just fun to ride faster events like GP's, H&H, even motocross. But they've even won a GNCC championship in 2017 when the 450RX premiered. Go try one out, and I think you'd enjoy the experience. 👌

I just about fell over dead when I saw that you were testing a 450!!! That's a sweet bike, but being a two stroke guy I ride a KX500 with 18" rear, a gummy, and a hydraulic clutch and I LOVE IT. Lugs like a mother, dead reliable, screams when you want it to and I can still get 70 miles on a stock tank. Glad to see you smilin'about this one given your past experience with the YZ450

I just bought a 2022 CRF250RX and LOVE IT!! I was riding a RMZ, and for single track/woods riding this new Honda is LIGHTS OUT! Totally redone for 2022 and it’s a winner. I’m so glad I went and checked out the new Honda. Even stock, it’s so fun to ride and love the different mapping and launch control. It gets tons of compliments. Do yourself a favor and go see one if you can. You won’t regret it. Only mods so far I’ve done is a Twin Air filter and new rubber(Dunlop M59 front /IRC M5b Evo rear) and it HOOKS now!

I'm a diehard Honda guy, that being said I now own a 21 TE250i and 22 FX450. I'm absolutely stoked I switched to Husqvarna over Honda. Honda offroad is heading in the right direction but you can't beat the Husqvarna transmission and clutch. For the Honda, put a Hinson basket and reckluse manual clutch it'll be bullet proof. You're gonna need springs and gold valves for your skill level. It's built for a 160lb soaking wet rider imo.

What's interesting to me is that if you look at a dyno the CRF450x and a KTM 300 2-stroke they are within 1-3HP overall of each other which to me is really within 'dyno-error range' (4-stroke does win in torque) I keep that in mind when you're like, "Wow this power is fun!!" because it's a nice way to show that 2/4-stroke difference, on a dyno they don't look that different but riding is a different animal.

Awesome 1st impressions! That bike looks like its a blast to ride. You wouldnt want to be doing too much hard enduro type riding on it but theres a tool for every job, and that bike looks like it does its job very well. I wouldnt mind have one...lol looks like ill be buying some more DBC swag. 🤘

I'm glad it's not just me but, you seem to be breathing harder than normal. When I ride my 2019 WR450 my heart rate seems to get higher than on my 250. Those 450's are a beast BUT, they can turn on ya pretty quick. When you said you were shifting back into 2nd I was like NOOOO..lol. That's the gear that bites when you are moving at the speed you were going. Great video. Oh, and my skydio did the same thing a couple weeks ago also. It was working fine then it decided to swing WAY wide and went into the trees and crashed. It hit the ground so hard the battery popped out. BUT, it took it like a champ and worked fine afterword's. Haven't had an issue with it since though.

i have a 2018 CRF450RX myself and i freaken love it! i really want to try a 22’ to see if i should make the switch…. bc obv the new chassis motor etc is a hugeeeee difference from that 60hp monster motor that the 18’ has…. so please make a full sit down video explaining the bike and how it reacts and see maybe if u recommend making the switch…. another problem is its so hard to find them for some reason lol

@@DirtBikeChannel Thank you. I understand what you mean. Years ago, I've owned (long term) and put many hours on a 250F and a 250 2-stroke. My favorite by far was the 250 2-stroke. It felt like home. The power was controllable and felt just right. Because I liked that bike so much, I wanted to give the 450 a shot this time around. Is it apples and oranges would you say?

Peak horsepower numbers may be similar but they are very different to ride. 2 stroke is more proficient in the gnarly stuff, 4t is awesome on flowing single track and more faster pace riding. Id say go for whatever bike makes you want to ride, just research as much as you can and take into consideration where you are gonna use it.

@@robvigesaa5738 I was in the same boat. Came back after a long time off. I’m a big guy and thought I’d start with the a 450 and did so. Sold it 10 months later. Heavy, tons more torque than I ever expected or needed. Bought a KTM 350 XC-F and found my riding was way more enjoyable. Now I am riding a KTM 300 XCW 2T and it’s an unbelievable day on any trail on any ride in all terrains. Hope that helps.

Kyle i know we had this discussion before but try a rekluse cx in that bike and ride some of your slower trail to see how it performs. In the trails in that video 450 rules with their stability and power so no surprises there. Really interested to follow this bike evolution and your comments since i own a 2006 450x with unknown hours that performs like a train on flowing trails ! It is also my moat reliable bike of my 3 450.

My son just bought his first bike on his own. He bought a 2022 CRF450R and it has fouled 2 plugs just like the 21's did and got recalled for. Hasn't even gotten to take it riding. I've been in this sport for 46 years and he has been riding and racing since he was 5 and is now 25. I have never experience such a bunch of bs as we have with Honda customer service. Sir you have no warranty on a competition bike can't help you. Dealer said this is how they are. You have to wait for the recall if there is one. Running very rich. 4 strokes should never foul plugs. Should have stayed with KTM. When you spend almost $11000 they should back it up if it didn't' work from the start. Most of these bikes are not having issues. But many are. Shouldn't't have to have ECU remap done to stop fouling of a plugs.

I rode a 22 450RX and the power is so mild off idle that the bike feels slow to me (in the middle/standard map). The KTM 450XC is supposed to be even more mild of idle (I've never ridden one to say from first hand experience...rocky mountain atv didn't a race comparison between the Honda 450RX and the Husky 450 and they said the aggressive app on the Husky was more mild than the mild map on the Honda). The manufacturers are finally figuring out that they can spread out all those ponies and torque on the 450's to make very manageable, even more tractable, much easier to ride power vs. the instant, on/off type power that 450's have had the past decade or so.

I got a 22 450r. I love it. I done a 7oz fly wheel , 525 shinko , gold valves. 52 rear gear. I can take it anywhere my buddys go on their 300 2t bikes. We did a day after Xmas ride I was the only 4 stroke. It was straight rough stuff. They thought I’d struggle but went np. I did a good skid plate with linkage cover cause we have to cross logs a lot and creek rocks. I drop to a 12t in front sometimes. Such a fun bike. I do both mx and hard enduro stuff.

Heard you talking about wanting 6 gears. Honda makes one with 6 gears. It comes with a headlight, tail light and some other stuff the rx doesn’t have. Honda makes the Crf450rx but they also make a crf450x which does have 6 gears.

The 450x six speed isn't actually any wider than the old 450x five speed. The RX is a close ratio 5 speed though and much narrower than both and only half as wide as a 300L.

I’m I’m between this and a 450x but I love desert riding but tbh I’m never riding in 5,6 gear so idk if the x is worth it. Also I love hearing that the RX is a torque monster. I bet a bunch of guys are looking forward to your thoughts. I'd also love to see how that feels compared with my old 2002 CRF450R. I bet it's a lot better off-road. Mine felt pretty "busy", in hindsight. I'm sure there is more I could have done to make it desert-friendly and Honda have probably done that now. I've moved on from Hondas (I'd be surprised if I ever purchase another), but I'm digging the content! Keep up the great work. How many choices are there? There's really only KTM and Beta for serious dirt biking (wouldn't get Honda, Yamaha or DRZ). I'm thinking about just making my 17' TX 300 street legal. I had the 450s and didn't like them nearly as much. If you're just connecting trails then I would make a 2 stroke street legal. Beta might actually have street legal 2 strokes (not 100% sure).

@@stevetdesigns I live in Commifornia. Making a 2-stroke street legal is not feasible. I can get it plated through AZ, but to do so the law says the bike must reside in AZ. Penalty of Perjury isn't something I want to mess with.

Just bought one myself to go with my TM Racing EN300ES 2 stroke! Both are awesome machines - just got to drop my Honda off at XPR Motorsports for a race engine to match the HP of my TM Racing machine...
