I got my mama's 4610 SU MADE in 1982. The tractor sit in one place for 12 years I aired up the tires checked her fluids installed a new battery and drove her on the trailer. Nick named her mama SU. Love that tractor.

That tractor was a great find, no severe work needed. I can’t wait to see it at Plow Day out in the field after it’s 14 year nap. It looks awesome and I do love the CAT stack bends on the tractor. Just an awesome rescue.

That stack is so much better and she looks so much better without that fairground hood that was put on it. Looking at her paintwork, if it was me I would just make sure that she had a good wax. It would stop any more paint decay and would protect the rest. Plus she would really stand out in a crowd. She was definitely a good purchase.

Excellent find, After the tractor days are finished are you going to work the tractor or is this a hobby piece? Either way I'd love to see the old machines being worked regularly because they are not trailer Queen's! it's not a Packard or a Duesenberg, it's a machine that wants to be worked! Area Diesiel Service in Carlinville Illinois was in business back in 70 and 80. So some old guys are still there. They do injection pump, injector and tubro.

After you pressure wash it the second time what I would do is clear coat it and leave all the patina on it I wouldn't even repaint it I just clear coat it it looked really good and that new Chrome stack that you're going to order that's going to look really killer

The neighbor 43yrs ago blamed his kids for blowing up or short life expectancy of 4020 with MW turbo, Mo 328a10 ,serial #2376,part# 24934 says TRW on tag I took it apart a few months ago after sitting on the shelf on found out lack of changing oil bath air cleaner just full of dirt and oil look like turbo was leaking If repair man you know wants I'll dropoff when I out your. Brandon my experience with 5020's tells me you will want the duals to hold the horse power. The grim lins stole the top member of the 3 point !!!!!! It will use about 7.25 gallons of fuel per hour in heavy tillage .

Yep, on those old tractors that have sat awhile changing hoses, lines and belts are always advisable. That along with a complete fluid and filter change. On a gas tractor I would also go with changing plugs, wires, distributor cap, points and rotor. I know a lot of people don't even do that much, but like you said, you don't want it to crap out in the middle of plow day.

Chrome won't get you home but it shure will be pretty with it. She cleaned up real nice. Don't know what you payed for it but what a find. Might want to check the air filter and oil cannister if you haven't already for any crud or critters. What ya gonna hook it to at plow day???

im inclined to believe your uncle may be somewhat right ignoring the presence of antifreeze in the oil and knowing the affect it has on bearings you may get it to plow on plowday i suspect doing much plowing is not a reasonable expectation i just hate to see someone put all the work and money into a money pit by not properly evaluating the first rule of repair cause and effect and how that applies to all things in life i'm old school from the school of hard knocks and know all to well it doesn't have to be that way i.e. cause and effect
