Nice! Pretty much did the same with my JK & 37's. Used a different truss from JCR & also did the gussets. You just have to wheel carefully & since I went with 5.13's I didn't lock the front. Figure my u-joints or axles will be the weak point if something does give way & either are cheap & easy to fix. For me it was the least expensive way to go at the time since I can do my own work/welding. When it goes I'll upgrade to a 44 but it's been going this way for 2 years w/ no signs of any issues what so ever & we wheel our Jeeps. Have to watch the rest of your videos to see how it comes out!

@johnmunder71075 жыл бұрын
@@kenskens69 It's certainly do-able but you'll have to take it easy. As you know the D30 ring & pinion is much smaller than the D44 & obviously the D60 so way easier to break if you start hammering on it. I take my approaches slow and easy & haven't had any issues. With the 5.13's I would not lock it in the front otherwise you are increasing the risk of breaking it. Just my .02 cents. Others may have different results but I've been running it like this for a couple of years with zero issues. Running Yukon gears professionally set up.

Joe Man I did my own gears and it wasn't terrible but there are a few things you will need. set up bearings are a must. I didn't have a press so I put the carrier in the freezer and the bearings in the oven at like 150 degrees. They slipped right on, it was awesome! The hardest part, in my opinion, is getting the right preload on the pinion at the right depth. Good luck with your setup!

Currently running 33's. Now thinking of 35's. If we do go up, hopefully 4.56 won't be a problem. It'll be mainly highway, will try of wheel often - in Florida trails. With some mud. In the future, hopefully trails in GA, AL, TN, NC. Now thinking of putting on a truss, since the axle will be off anyways. Get it it all done at once.

Very nice work. I'm at odds with upgrading my D30, vs replacing with a 44. My long term goal is 37s, and im a pretty careful wheeler. Ive heard nothing but good on these artec trusses. They make a JK44 to TJ truss, which i'd looked at when i started down the JK axle swap path. basically, converts a JK d44 to TJ mounts, with the added strength of the truss. Nice stuff.

Hello Nate. Love your channel alot , its informative for anyone to do these projects if they have the tools and skill. I have a 1994 XK axle, stripped down, just bought this truss kit and doing the WJ knuckle conversion. What is the newest year of XJ axles I can use in this WJ knuckle setup? I heard the newer XJ axles have beefier U joints than the older ones. Keep up the good work.

Awesome man! Hey did you do a video on the diesel swap? Im curious what engine that is and what it took to make it run

Also i have a bit of a project on my hands and im curious what you think. Iv been off roading for years in a full size truck and im just now getting into the jeep thing. Fought it for a while, until i found myself wanting to fit in trails my trucks are literally too wide for and much higher complexity. Im a pretty accomplished welder and fabricator, im not afraid one bit of repairing the tj frame i have and building a 4 link for the rear and a 3 link front. What im curious about is there a portion of the frame i should know about that i need to discard and build different. Currently the body is off the frame. I have some tub work to do well its off. I was planning on a rear and front stretch with coil overs. A 5.3 4l80e and an atlas to power it with a 60 front and 10.5 year. I was looking at the rear frame and there are body mounts down the bumper and under the load floor. Is that section of the frame useful with 4 link and a stretch? Or do i need to remove it and fab a different section. I just wanted to make sure you didnt encounter any challenges with your frame that i should know about now. I am either going to look into that fuel cell that is in the stock location that is made for a a stretched frame or get one for the load floor. Thank you nate

So I have an XJ I’ll stick with the D30 up front but what do you think about keeping the stock D35 in the rear and build it up similar to this? Or would you recommend doing the 8.8 or d44 rear swap? Don’t plan on ever going over 35s on it. Will have full armor and bumpers.

Did you have any fitment issues with the inner c gussets and coil springs?

Hey did you ever check the axle for straightness before and after welding? I just welded an artec truss and and C gussets and mine pulled so I had to straighten it after, even tho I spread out the welding over a long time. (I don’t know if it was crooked before welding) but I’m curios if you checked yours and how it came out. I measured mine by having bushings machined to fit the bearing caps and a pipe through the axle

I didn't check it for straightness before but that would have been a good idea. I would be willing to bet your axle was bent before you put the truss on. One of my favorite features of the artec truss kit is the fact that there are no long continuous welds. Makes it a lot easier to install without warping the housing. 👍

Yeah I beat my self up not checking before, but what’s done is done and it’s straight now :) thanks for the reply!

Hi I really appreciate what you do and what you're doing on your site here and how you go about explaining and so forth. On the Dana 30 I want to use it on a solid axle S10 Blazer project and an S10 pickup project... Two separate vehicles for two different people. 4.3 l engines. Using leaf springs or coil springs? I noticed that you used coil springs in the video would it be the same for this leaf spring purchase? I've been a hot rod guy all my life and going into 4x4s and off-roading is a new adventure for myself and my brother. Would you please educate me... Thank you for your time and consideration.
