Back in the 60's when I was a lot younger, my folks belonged to what was back then, the Rough Riders Jeep club. We didn't take 10 day trips cuz no one back then could afford to take 10 days off of work. So we'd go out for three or sometimes 4 days at a time. We went in some pretty knarly places so watching your videos brought back some long forgotten memories. We have a Polaris RZR now and it goes thru terrain like what you guys went thru waaay easier. But of course we can't carry all the stuff you guys carry so we just camp with our 5th wheel camper and just go out for a day at a time. But at least we're still getting out. I'm 73 now and even though I had a double heart attack last year, i'm still going to keep going out and enjoying our beautiful mountains here in Montana.

A friend ran across this video and emailed me about it. Epic! I was actually attempting to do a solo drive of ORBDR section 5 the same day you were doing that section. Luck had me run across you guys twice on your trip. Both times, I was turning around because of the depth of snow I was seeing. My vehicle was a white F350 superduty. Now that I see what you guys encountered, I think I made the right decision. Maybe someday I will have the skills and experience to accomplish what you all did. That your suburban made it, tells me I am the limiting factor, not my vehicle! Glad you guys ultimately were successful and congrats on overcoming all the natural and mechanical obstacles that occurred during your trip. Best of luck on your next adventure! Hope to see you on the trails again some day!

My brother and I have done the Arizona and Colorado BDRs along with four of our friends. We had my Jeep YJ, with our home built off road trailer, a Sprinter Sportsmobile , and my brother and 3 other friends on dual-sport bikes. I wish I could post pictures in this comment section, but let’s just say that the trips were epic. And yes the Sportsmobile made it the whole way on both trips. Ophir pass was the beginning of some of the most clenching shelf roads I have been on, but some of the trails were a lot tougher. Thanks for sharing this Nate . That was awesome.

Such a cool video! I was born and raised in Oregon and have been all over that state, it’s such a unique state cause it has every terrain, land feature, and scenery you can think of. The deserts of Oregon is by far my favorite place. I used to live in Fort Rock Oregon which is just north west of Christmas valley about 35 miles and that is by far the coolest place I’ve ever lived. So many trails out there and miles and miles of nothingness. When you guys got to CV I got a huge smile on my face and was so thrilled you got to check out that area. This is the first video of yours I’ve watched and look forward to the next! I recently bought a 2014 jku I’m building and cannot wait to take it on some trails soon. Awesome video! Thanks for putting your message out there about being a good steward to the land. I used to wheel in AZ....("phoenix area").... There was a man made fire that spread over countless acres and toasted everything. Everything was destroyed for tens of miles in all directions. It was very sad to see. It went from a beautiful desert with saguaro cactus, to a burnt waste land.

For the bumper that broke, it was mentioned that the bolts were welded on, tuning them into studs. It is possible that is the root cause of the issue. Many bolts do come with a heat treatment to give them their grade (strength) and welding temps will destroy almost every heat treat, reducing the strength of the bolt to almost nothing. (Grade 1)

@@MuddyBeards4X4 My first vehicle was a 88 S10 Blazer, that I still have and it could use some updating. Still on IFS but with 4" suspension lift and 2" body lift on 33s. That's why the S10 isn't top of the list. Everything that I would do to it, I probably already want to do to the Blazer. Top of the list is a first gen Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Seems like a super solid platform and the front suspension is shared with the Ranger, so there is support there and I've always wanted some long travel. I have a build all planned out, I just don't have room and can't decide if that money would be better spent on my 97 Powerstroke. A long travel TTB kit is calling my name. I've got a SAS 2000 Denali that has a 4L60. I rarely run in 4th gear unless I'm on really flat ground because of the transmission shifting between 4th & 3rd along with the torque converter locking/unlocking in 4th. That looks like so much fun all of you are having. What an adventure! I really appreciate the time it took to make this video. I got some education for myself out of it. This is my second time watching it LOL. I have been to many of the places that you guys have traveled through. Washington and Oregon have some of the most beautiful scenery that I have ever seen. The fires that have ran through many of the area's, in those backwoods have definitely made their marks. Great job guys.

Great job, the trip alone is an extraordinary accomplishment, but the filming and production of the video of the trip while doing it blows my mind. Awesome job !

Its videos like these and Nates commentary that make me love that dude even more, ya we're watching his videos, but his ultimate and very passionate message was, stop watching me, call your friends and go do this yourself, thats whats important. Awesome job Nate, planning trip right now!

I just went through every bit of tools I've got and small parts this past week. Incredibly happy with the new Ridgid Gen 2.0 system. They are not as robust as the Milwaukee Packouts but they are stronger, less costly and perfect for my needs. I made additional dividers out of bamboo cutting boards and am not looking back. Removable dolly, drawer boxes got my vote. Being able to use some of my old Ridgid 1.0 organizers and power tool boxes is a plus. Latches together very well. Will be using these for the next 10+ years. Thanks for making a video!

What? The s10 has a straight front axle? That’s cool I prefer that over IFS to

Fun part of snow wheeling in those conditions - if someone had followed your track the next day they would have said "what did they struggle with?" break the crust, the snow melts below very, very quickly.... fun stuff, can't believe how much of that route I've run at various points of my life (used to live near Portland)

Cannot tell just how much I enjoyed watching this and your guys…it looks like a blast. I’ve been looking into doing off-roading/overlanding…and you guys just totally sold me! I hope, after a year or so of getting myself geared up and a little experience, to join you on a trip like this!
