Rather than just carrying spare bearings, I do one better and carry a spare hub. It makes it just that much easier to change out at a random rest area in the dark when a bearing burns up.

There is this "stuff" out there. It's called GREASE. You can use it to lube the hubs. If the hubs are inadequate from the Manufacturer.......REPLACE THEM with better ones.

Hey Nate, hey when you registered that trailer if it’s 2000 pounds and lower, you can get a permanent registration on it in Washington state for it will help you on not having to pay tabs every year look into it that also goes for boat, trailers, jet, ski trailers, and utility trailers😊
@dmwi1549

Same in Wisconsin. I also contacted State troopers to confirm I could legally drive to Sturgis with it because those cops can be pricks. State Trooper told me if you’re legal in your home state, your good to travel outside your home state.

Seriously? Is it expensive? Tabs are cheap for the small trailers but it's so damn annoying when you have multiple and it seems like tabs are always bad on one of them. I'm going to look into this.
@dmwi1549
@dmwi1549 13 күн бұрын
If under 3000lbs-just googled it-No registration required. No plates required in Wisconsin. You should still have a title. Registration may help if it is stolen-then found. But thief would probably remove plate and cert or origin sticker, then grind any serial #. Check with your state. And…. If you turn it into something other than a cargo trailer you might confirm with your state that it’s still good to go.

The old HF trailers came with bearings that were basically not greased. The only way to find out was to read the reviews online. Let’s just say I didn’t read those reviews. I saw the bearings had some grease on them (I was young and dumb), put the trailer together, and went to Home Depot. On my way home I did a VERY long one wheel burn out and put a massive flat spot on the tire. Almost lost a sheet of plywood off the back. Pucker factor. 😂

I’ve been using the composite lumber that’s made from the off grinds from lumber mills and recycle plastic stuff is weather resistant seems to be just as strong and it takes fasteners very well. Still cuts and drills like wood, if you shop around at wholesalers, you can find it cheaper than pressure treated lumber.

It's awesome that you're trying to live better. I was 40 when we started on a better living journey, 45 now. We sorta gave up on the growing side due to time constraints with 5 kids and homeschooling. With the greens, we found it better buying bulk from the farm markets or neighbors then canning what we need for the year. Along with 3-5 deer I kill, We raise pigs and chickens plus buy our beef from the neighbors. We wish you the best!

Now years ago before it was stolen, we had a Home Depot welded together steel frame trailer that was built by a local mass-produced trailer manufacturer, and they sold the Home Depot. It was what could be considered a landscapers trailer with a full down tailgate ramp with the wire mesh. That was a really good quality trailer and we used it for a couple years to haul the bikes, but sadly somebody needed it more than we did and it was stolen.

Nice change of pace content. There's something to be said about sustaining your family via gardening and hunting/gathering. I'm almost to the point where I don't need to leave my property for any foodstuffs. It's so satisfying eating vegetables, fruits that you've personally grown yourself, the same when throwing some venison on the grill that you processed yourself. Use everything from an animal.

Glad to see it uses standard 2000 pound bearing sets. Hopefully they stuck with the dexter 10-60 or 10-9 (I believe. Going on memory) axle grease seal. If that and the bearing spacing is the same it would be super exciting. Makes getting replacement parts much easier.

I have one of those orange folding harbor freight trailers that was sold at a lot of different places stamps steel U channel rails some state pockets little tiny wheels. I think they’re 12 inch. We only use it for hauling bicycles around and occasionally lumber. It’s been from Portland to Seattle at least 10 times hauling bikes. It’s been a salem probably 200 times from Portland. I even used it to move out of my apartment in downtown Portland back to the parents house after my father died. I’ve never really had to do anything to it except or put some WD-40 on the hitch coupling. But I’ve noticed the new trailers. Don’t look to be as built as well as this one. If you’re curious, I can Instagram post some photos of it. I’m pretty sure it’s a 4 x 6. It might be 4 x 8, designed to fold in half so I can be stored standing up, but we’ve never did it. We’ve got plywood bolts at the top of it.
