Great video. I can see why DP wanted your help. I was glad to see the sand blasting cabinet being used properly. About 5 years ago I came across someone who was sand blasting granite grave headstones and the granite was too big for the cabinet. He disabled the interlocking guard on the cabinet and just draped a sheet over the granite when it was being sand blasted. He didn't care that he was exposing his workers to silica dust. It came back to bite him on the backside, after a worker quit in disgust and reported him to the UK Health and Safety Executive. A nice large fine and prohibition order followed. Cheers Michael (from Scotland)

Clint, knowing you don;t USUALLY work on trailers, but so glad you did, to help Mike [ Dirt perfect ] out, since this job, in one of his more recent videos that he droped just a day or so ago, when he bought a JRB lift for scrap price from a dealer in his area, it TORE us most of the boards on this exact trailer.. What a mess it is currenly. Thinking maybe heavy diamond plate on it,??I found this video VERY interesting. sadly with all the salt on the roads during the winter, and running this trailer dsuring thr winter, is how the salts eats away and promotes to all the rest..This video showed all the talent and Knowlege that you have, from inspection to parts to weilding, and your sttention to detail on everything concerning this trailer and to keep Mike safe when using it.

@samb37062 жыл бұрын
@@DirtPerfect What I was driving at is that you have a business to run, so your repair philosophy has to be "fix what is broken and let's get back to work", while this C & C overhaul is more like acquiring a new or totally reconditioned piece of equipment. No offense was intended, it is just that this overhaul [and the 850J] are new experiences for the DP company.

It seems "more often than not" that the right most rear shackle/leaf assembly has the most rust damage. I know that on cars I've seen/repaired the right rears swell so much it pushed the ABS sensor ring off the hub. Long trailers would be worse since they're getting the heavy blast of the brine-salt-gravel peening that shackle housing and Rust jacking it open "due to salt and brine it's lots of crusty dollar$ time". Great assessment of that low boy brakes/suspension. Joy to watch you fellas!

Those upper stitch welds allowed dirt and water to get up inside of that rear angled trailer end braces. One suggestion which was handed down to me while using press brakes with small parts is to put them in the middle of the press brake so no torsion loads are placed on the press brake rams and attachment points.
