I can only imagine how much dirt would be moved if the dam was further down the hill to meet the proper elevation! Would almost be double the height. I think I understand now why the dam is in its current location. It almost seems like having two haul trucks would be more productive. Two-man team loading and hauling tag team style. Jerry can handle all of the dozer work all by himself!

When I saw Aaron walking down the dam at the start of the video with arms fully extended and holding the bottom of the stick, I was thinking, at least he’s not 6’6” tall with arms fully extended, it would have doubled what you needed to haul at that point, just a silver lining of sorts. It’s a bit of a bummer to need that much more dirt but if I remember correctly, you were kind of sketchy on dirt availability at the start. I will say this, it will be done right when it’s finished and there will be no looking back, looks great gentlemen, thanks for the update, enjoying the series.

That's going be a really big dam. I just have a hard time seeing where all the water is coming from to fill it and keep it full. Best I can see is that it will depend on rain run off. Of course it isn't easy to see the whole lay of the land with these videos.

The camera must give an optical illusion, because it looked near proper height at beginning, maybe slightly low on each end. Well as a laser can't lie, you've still got a lot do. Hope you have enough material to use on site.

I've always wanted to ask, and maybe this could be covered in a shop talk video... When you do these dam projects, are there any local or state engineering/permits that you need to go through? Coming from the left coast, I can't imagine just being able to do this much work without a government entity sticking their nose into a project with their hand out for money (fees). Also, with the river so close to some of your projects, does the Coast Guard ever get involved?

@@alanbierhoff6831 Does he have to mention permits so you know he needs permits? No. He needed permit for the addition and maybe electrical as well sense he did upgrade it. But depending on the area and rules he might not need any other permits. Marshall county Indiana up northern you don't need a lot of permits if you are doing the work yourself. You can pretty build your own house and never get a permit now the problem is if you sell it then that the big problem. I can go and get all the permits myself to do a home build. Different rules for different areas.

Some probably need permits others not so much. Don't think you would ever need Coast Guard input, but the county drainage board would probably have to get involve sometimes.
