That's awesome! I remember doing that on my KX 500 back in the 80's! We had a lot of places to ride back then. We had a circle track that was quite a bit bigger than the one in the video. It was a perfect circle with 4 foot vertical walls. We could get 2 or 3 bikes going at the same time. I remember being in 3rd gear wide open on the big KX! I remember passing a guy on a RM 125 once! 😎 🤘 ☠️

You know, you are right mate. From now on I'm going to teach my students to conquer corner ruts by "keeping your feet on the pegs, hover over the seat, and gently lean in" as you originally wrote (even though the top riders use the techniques I mention). It a great way to learn excellent corner rut technique (exact same skills), and definitely to gain the commitment to lean it over and get on the gas hard instead of hesitating which a lot of riders have a huge issue with. But probably the main reason is because it is such an enjoyable feeling to rip around and conquer it - isn't getting that buzz and satisfaction the main reason why we all ride dirtbikes????

Yes mate, I did stay at the front of the seat - check on the "overhead" shots and you will see that there is only about 2 inches of seat showing. If you go any further forward you can't get enough bike lean angle because your thigh keeps the handlebars propped up.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
Nah mate, they didn't contradict what I said, instead they reinforced it by advising riders to put their foot out. And why do you put your foot out? So as to skim across the ground if necessary to support yourself when going around a corner. Isn't that what they're doing when they touch their foot on the ground? Or do you have another incorrect pearl of wisdom to explain their action of skimming the foot. Go on, please explain. At least they don't say, "keep your feet up, hover over the seat..."
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
For someone who said a week ago that you had nothing more to say about this topic, well, you certainly have said a lot more since then. Face it mate, you should just give it now because you're losing the battle. Everyone else can see how wrong you are, evidenced by all of the comments. Answer this though, why do those other Pro's put their foot out every corner, AND TOUCH THE GROUND WITH IT, when really they shouldn't be, well at least going by your wisdom of "feet on the pegs" around the corner
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
You are the one that said, and gave the evidence, that you are Podunk etc. I never mentioned street fighters or +40mph - you made that up. I talked about all of the techniques required to most effectively rail a corner rut, or berm for that case, either on inside or outside of the corner. You wrong in everything you said, except for that yes I do love Vegemite! Take your "rookie" incorrect technique comments and post them somewhere else please, and hopefully you won't post your crap here again!
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
Bro, We're talking about the corner here, not the rest of the track. The corner in the Circle rut never stops, that is what you fail to understand. The snap shot form the middle of a corner rut or berm, inside or outside shows their technique to being exactly that you use in the Circle rut. At least admit that! You don't put your foot back up on the peg in the Circle rut because the corner never finishes - you just keep it cranked over and on the gas. What don't you get about that???
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
....and there is your answer my friend. They all stuck their leg out, and had their foot in front of them ready to skim across the ground if necessary. The more you lean it over the more necessary it is to skim your foot across the ground. Didn't you originally say "keep your feet on the pegs, and hover over the seat" - what happened to backing up those words of wisdom that you don't seem to mention any more. Take your "rookie" incorrect technique comments and post them somewhere else please.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
Summers and Smith were better riders than me especially in all of the races and C'ships that I beat them in, ha, ha! I'm sure you felt the same way to the winner of all those big rookie races that you got 2nd place in. Mate, just give it up will ya! You have got such a hard-on for me at the moment - I'm stoked that I can affect you that way!!! Take your incorrect technique comments and post them somewhere else please.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
Yep, those guys that did beat me were at a higher level, but one thing is for sure and that is they all still were "surfing your boot across the dirt like a Catamaran outrigger" when in a corner rut whether they were on the inside or the outside of the corner. You still haven't been able to prove that wrong with your rookie talk. Getting #93 from just doing 2 out of the 13 races that year isn't too bad of an effort by myself I'd like to think. Again, go get your facts right before posting here.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
There was a continual Circle rut once at the "Globe of Death" National MX held at the Ringling Bros. Circus event many years ago, ha, ha, ha!!!! Don't you remember that one from back in your rookie days of never winning due to poor technique!!!! It's pointless trying to explain to you on why anyone would want to set up a Circle rut and have a blast doing it - if you haven't figured it out yet, then probably never will. Take you incorrect technique comments some where else please.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
One thing can be sure, and that is that all these Pro's put their foot out in front of them skimming it on the ground if necessary, using it as an outrigger or rudder to stabilize themselves, while they are railing an inside corner rut or outside corner berm. Now that is a fact, and if you think not then you are delusional. There's going to be no deleting here. I'm just putting you in your place and correcting you. And yeah, I still think you are a tool. Keep the propaganda coming you troll.....
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
You can disagree and still be wrong - it is not until you can show proof of your "feet on the pegs, hover over the seat, gently lean in" corner rut technique that you can be right. What ever happened to you ranting about that technique - you don't ever seem to mention it any more in your comments, Mr. Genius.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
And for that matter so does Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Bob Hannah, and so on. Whether it is these above names mentioned, or lets say Kevin Windham, Chad Reed, David Bailey, they all have suffered significant and sometimes devastating injuries from racing dirt bikes so they probably all ride recklessly too, huh!
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
And you should with your incorrect information? And what about RC and his current schooling endeavors. You don't remember him being "out of control", or "over the edge", or "reckless" during his progression in the Pro ranks. Your comments continue to make you look like an ass!
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
His foot is skimming on the ground, and out there ready to if necessary, for a little longer than a millisecond, bro. The only reason his foot comes up is because his corner ends. In the Circle Rut, the corner doesn't end, or didn't you figure that out already???
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
Mate, you use the same technique whether it is a rut or a berm, and if it is on the inside or outside of a corner - only difference is the speed you are going at. The other half of your brain should be able to tell you that once it starts working again.....
@DirtWiseRidingSchool11 жыл бұрын
Eric mate, you just don't get it do ya. Give it up mate because you are totally wrong. I've never ruptured an ACL from skimming my foot across the ground in an inside corner rut or outside corner berm. You are a joke mate!!!!!

@eric christian You really are a troll man I race intermediate and I have always put my foot out. The reason this is done is so that you can sit on the high side of the seat as it is leaned over. I will admit not everyone does it but I have seen many pros swear by it religously, watch any race live. It doesn't matter how it's done just as long as it works, everyone is going to develop a different style but to teach someone a good starting point like this video is beneficial.
@saiyajinali11 жыл бұрын
By sticking your leg out and ahead if anything if the bike slides out, you simply land on your butt like a baseball player sliding into home base. If you actually ever hit a corner rut correctly on a dirtbike you would understand. But like ignorant people, you make audacious, condescending comments which make you look more stupid because you don't have a clue that you are doing it.
@saiyajinali11 жыл бұрын
Eric, Shane Watts is a professional racer with many years experience and looking at your "debate" you are showing how ignorant you really are. I have been to Shane's school twice because he knows what he is doing. I come from a street riding background also and the techniques are totally different when it comes to cornering. As a matter of fact, I have had to retrain myself because my cornering on a street bike has held me back.
@mozer3012 жыл бұрын
i think you'll find that the majority of bikes (apart from harley,buell ect that use a tall V-twin motor that spares no space for a sump) use wet sumps.In fact most cars use wet sumps,Certainly all motocross/dirtbikes use wet sumps,and again with sports/superbikes...what gives you the impression that most 4 strokes use a dry sump?
@zachbuccieri409811 жыл бұрын
If you can ride a circle rut like that maybe you would've won some races. Taking 2nd in the Open Class isn't something to brag about. Until you get your on school and have the credentials to be a critic then maybe your comments would have more weight to them.
@Kosh59211 жыл бұрын
Proper riding technique is keeping your feet on the pegs as much as you can. Only taking your foot of when you need to. Your foot should never drag on the ground. Then if you are railing a berm or a rut that fast your foot should be out in front of the ground with the toes pointed in towards the forks.
@johnkempf212812 жыл бұрын
im making one right now:) cant wait for it to be ready (thinking 2 more days) so i want my foot dragging on the ground holding me up like you did? i thought i would rest it about 2 inches over the ground and have it there in case the bike started to tip over for some reason.
