The actual altitude of the peaks is not that high, but the attitude (the severity and distance of the drop on both sides) is quite significant!

I've ridden this and you have to have nuts the size of watermelons to go that fast.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool12 жыл бұрын
G'day mate, yeah it is a 200XCW. The front brake definitely does work so much better at slowing you down than the rear brake. Keep on roosting!

Right on, thats a perfect single track bike. That trail looks like a blast and you were shredding it proper!! We have a similar trail here in arizona at the wildcat riding area, good stuff!!

There's a place just like this in AZ where we ride. The hills don't look as tall though (less consequences if ya fall off the edge) but its just as up and down with lots of g-outs and whoops. SOOOOO much fun. Lots more twisty though. This generally seems pretty straight. At the end of the trail there are these massive stand alone hills that require some effort getting up. They've been cimbed so many times there's lots of loose dirt at the bottom and rock at the top. Don't loop out! haha Cool vid

I have ridden at Beaumont several times and it is awesome, however though there are no trails there that resemble the severity of the Skinny Ridge trail. Search KZbin for the DirtWise Adv #2 DVD teaser and you'll see some familiar So Cal trails!!!

Yeah mate, they are good reliable bikes, but at that age no doubt some "unusual" things may start to break unlike a brand new bike. Enjoy your new ride, and keep on roosting!

Which bike is that Watty's sounds like a 200 :) You think you could upload the braking demo from your dvd where you show front brake, rear brake and both brakes? Some people just don't seem to believe about the front brake.
@DirtWiseRidingSchool12 жыл бұрын
Nothing is better than a brand new bike, ha, but your current bike would no doubt be a good ride. Best thing to do is go test ride a shop demo or get someone who has one to give you a short ride - that will give you the answers you're looking for. Go for a 2-5 year old bike (less expensive) if you are going to get one. Keep on roosting!

Q? I ride a 92 kdx 250 and love it like its my child but ive been thinking of getting a more modern smoker like a husaburg or a ktm smoker. Do u think the a new bike will b massively better than my bike is it worth the 8k investment? Thanks from wa. State

spend 1500-2500 on a clean used KTM 300. I rode a 93 KDX 200 from the time i was 15 well into my 20s. in 2004 i got a 00 ktm 300mxc for $2500. Best decision ever. Its a monster. wWAAY more power, more nimble, and the supension/brakes were miles ahead which let me ride faster in more controll. I still ride it, i keep it well maintained and added a steering dampner. A KDX is an awesome bike to master, but trust me you will feel amazing on that 300!

seriously, how many riders go down there?..Do you hear stories like once a week?
@DirtWiseRidingSchool12 жыл бұрын
I was spraying water from my drink system to cool down the brakes . When you're riding on the edge like that (literally!) you tend to drag the brakes a lot so as you're to stop immediately in case you make a mistake and possibly sail off the side. If the brakes get too hot the fluid can boil which means the brake can't work anymore - that is not good, ha!
@axialviper10 жыл бұрын
I'm from Grand Junction, the book cliffs are my stomping grounds, would love to ride with ya if you ever come back through... ya know, there's a mini skinny. Steeper with bigger drops & more narrow..... it's mini because it's a shorter distance.

Replace your brake fluid with fluid intended for race cars. They meet DOT 3 and 4 specs. That fluid has a much higher boiling point and will resist the effects of heat preventing brake fade.
