I have a similar cable operated lift on my home build vertical splitter, but I incorporated a "sear" type latch under the table so that once you have the table lifted to the horizontal, the sear automatically clicks in and holds the table there while you carry on splitting. It makes a handy "extension" to the table for manipulating those bigger split sections too.
