17:57 Del's not inquisitive, he's bi-curious. That beard is pure grindr. 49:12 - holy shit. Did he just say that? "It's a fact, it's proven, it's on the website". Oh, and for anyone who doesn't understand why it's fucking dangerous to open your radiator cap when the engine is hot. Firstly, y'know, it's fucking hot, innit, and you're venting hot gas. Secondly, though, the boiling point of your coolant will rise as pressure rises. So as your engine gets warm, the pressure in the system rises, and the boiling point of the fluid goes up, up until the point where the radiator cap pops. At that point, the fluid can be up to 120°C before it boils. Opening your radiator cap at this point will vent the pressure (which is frankly fuck all), but suddenly, all of the fluid finds itself at atmospheric pressure, and its boiling point is back to 100°C - a whole bunch of it may well then *instantly* boil and blow a load of boiling water out directly into your stupid fucking face. Not recommended.

When the cap pops and let’s it “overflow” it releases some pressure. As the coolant in the rad cools it will create a vacuum and suck the perfect amount back into rad…

In support of your position on hot coolant. A local ambulance company lost 5 ambulances by running 100% antifreeze instead of the proper 50/50 mix. Those vehicles burned because antifreeze is flammable if not mixed with the proper amount of water. All that was needed to get the fire started was a very small cooling system leak. Your advice about living the cap off or lose is good.

Matt will probably correct me but i never take the water out of a hot engine and years ago that's how we we trained , apart from the obvious of burning yourself it can lead to engine and gasket etc damage. example, if you just turn the engine off on a water cooled engine and then remove the water from the system the heat that still exists within the engine which is much higher than the water temperature has no medium to flow into (ie water) ...the water after you turn off the engine can still transfer the heat away from the cylinders etc... on an air cooled engine and you turn it off the heat dissipates in the normal fashion through the fins

I wish I'd have done a video of us draining the Evans out of my engine. That shit is lethal. If you've got anything with an internal oil cooler or prone to head gasket failure or gallery splitting issues then steer well clear. When it amalgamates with oil it's nearly impossible remove from the system. Evans know this, they know exactly what it'll do and will send you no end of free shit to stop you kicking up a stink. Also, I can only assume Del is so fucking dense that he confused draining warm oil with cold coolant. What a man

33:38 that wire looks to be the remnants of the cut end of the reinforcement wire that spirals inside the hose. It’s probably a vacuum rated hose that uses an internal reinforcing wire to prevent it collapsing under negative pressure. You can see the impression of the spiral on the hose. They are notorious for being a pain to trim flush when cutting vacuum hose to length.

I am slapping my head in disbelief.... What is that guy doing??? 1. You never-ever open closed cooling systems when they are hot.NEVER! FFS. The fluid boiling point depends on the atmospheric pressure. Water in the high Himalayas mountains boils at 80 degrees Celsius. In Southampton - at almost exactly 100 deg Celsius. In the closed cooling systems, you have a silent water(coolant) movement because the system is under pressure, even if the glycol has 180 degrees Celsius. Once you open the cap - you reduce the pressure to the point the fluid starts to boil and will cause damage to you (Salisbury Hospital is the best for severe burns treatment in the south of England!) and to your bike. If you need to clean the cooling system so it looks like the water from your tap - you just flush it with warm water and some acidic chemicals (citric acid is the best, but it is mega corrosive for aluminium, so use it for a very short period only). There is plenty of videos on how you can do that with a simple garden hose. 2. Expansion tank removal. The stupidity of the highest note. Please - have a look at your radiator cap. It has a flap, and the spring and the f...mark on the top: e.g 0.8 or 1.1. that's the pressure when the "flappy valve" gives up and releases excess fluid to the tank. But when your engine cools down and the pressure decreases - the flap allows drawing the fluid back from the tank to the radiator. Removal of this tank is stupid - at some point, you will end up with a minimal amount of the coolant in your system and you will risk engine overheating. If this tank is full and releases fluid - you probably have head gasket issue - pressure from the pistons gets to the cooling system and removes the fluid. Repair is necessary asap.

2nd video, that expansion bottle does NOT keep filling unless there's something seriously wrong with the cooling system (overpressurised by a blown head gasket). The coolant expands into the expansion tank when hot via the rad cap, then returns via the one way check valve in the rad cap. What's really scary is this guy is posting dangerous BS on KZbin. Someone could remove that expansion tank on their bike, the resulting expanding coolant expands into the open vented pipe, onto the road and the rider goes down because they hit the slippery coolant. He really is clueless.

Legality of safety marking - nothing for the cooling system but it is mentioned for brake fluid reservoirs and also airbags (other systems too). Legislative authorities gets interested if people are at risk of getting killed, not so much if someone is likely to suffer a minor injury through their own ineptitude! However, manufacturers will protect themselves from legal action if people injure themselves, hence warnings not to drink the acid from the battery. If someone were to injure themselves as a result of the warning being obscured by a previous user, then the manufacturer will simply point out that they had taken reasonable steps to warn owners of the risks.

The lying about the Evans Coolant is embarrassing, I see similar BS about it on car forums. Someone sticks a V8 in a kit car with an undersized radiator and it keeps boiling up so they put Evans in it. instant result no steam venting from the cooling system but of course the engine is actually getting hotter still. They just think they have fixed it. Delboy should watch his own videos before he uploads them and do some background research. The nonsense about lubricating the water pump is a classic, the bearing has to remain watertight with about 15psi of coolant pressure without water and steam pissing out of the spindle, but we are supposed to believe a viscous liquid under no pressure will get into the bearing?

Del reminds me two things, firstly the phrase "in the kingdom of the blind the man with one eye is king" and that remaining eye isn't too good either. Secondly the mentality of a teenager, whose confidence way outweighs his ability, ultimately his complacence and arrogance ends up making him look like a tit. "I think I know what I'm doing" (then just making shit up winging it), isn't the same as "I know what I'm doing." Imagine having the Internet as a resource and still not doing the single hours worth of research it would take to not ruin your credibility by getting caught bullshiting on a regular basis. I really wonder if he cares, like genuinely cares about the mechanical side of things, or if he happened to find out that making videos gets him attention, money and has given him an ill deserved sense of authority on the topic and a purpose as he's had some limited success out of it. He clearly wants to edit and make videos and do left field artistic fabrication, I think he's just a frustrated artist. He should probably sell the spanners, and buy some watercolours, he already has the paper... Stick to just riding the bikes as a past time.

Just one mistake you made is explaining the heat holding and shedding of water versus evans. The water sheds the heat better than the evans which is why the coolant mix runs at a lower temperature as it sheds the heat in the radiator. The evans can’t shed near as much and just gets hotter as engine heat increases

I think I know where that heating up your engine before draining the coolant comes from, back in the day when we wanted to take the engine out of the car, when it was winter the hoses became really stiff and it was hard to get them off so what we did was we took the radiator cap off when the engine was cold and then turned it engine on and after a minute or two turned it off and the hoses were softer and easier to take out , we couldn't really burn ourselves because the coolant was 40c max!
