Because the two major criticism a lot of people have with this set is the oversimplification of the build and price. There is a lot of interesting things in the set, like the stage, park, and even the small handyman bike, but everything else is underwhelming. Especially the main build of the city hall which looks like it is from one of those Lego Education set. And I do not like it when people use the "it's for kids" argument, because kids like being challenged and it means a lot more if they succeed in putting something really complicated together. And even from a playing perspective, there is very little you can do with a small amount of space. As for price...that is inexcusable. This set isn't worth $200. I don't even think it's worth $100. At most, I would pay $80 for a set like this. I don't care if the ratio of money per part is lower or something something "it's not going to be bought by kids or it'll be a shared toy," what is on display here is inexcusable for $200. Something rather biased of me to insert, but puts into perspective the different type of Lego fans that are out there, I grew up in a household where I was the only person who was playing with Legos. I earned money from my good grades, which was $5 for every A and $2 for a B. Being very generous, lets say I earned all As in the 7 classes I took in school (my school does grades via quarter of a school year), so I get $140 per school year. I'd have to wait 2 years to get this set and then be extremely disappointed once I do because it is underwhelming for the money I spent.

I miss the days when there was no "kittle kid" 4+, 6+ lables. My first set was a indiana jones set, I had a tough time building it. I don't think lego should take away the challenge for their younger audience because it takes away the pride you get from building it.

One of my first sets was creator set 6754, at age 10. I got really frustrated at points with the roof, i think i might have scraped my finger at a point, and almost smashed it. Granted im autistic, so maybe thats a factor. Still loved it

More serious comment: I agree that the set isn't coherent. That we really don't need another fire helicopter. That the limo looks fine from the outside but is a poor use of space (endemic to most vehicles). That the tram is a poor use of space (endemic to most Lego vehicles). The diner really is good but it's not given enough parts. And I'm not a fan of the named characters though it's easy enough to ignore them as an adult. But I hate that I have a million Duke Detains. Lastly, those are supposed to be LASERS? Don't agree about the music stage or train platform (though maybe ditch the helicopter and make the platform bigger). I like the random handyman cart. At least it wasn't the 100th quad bike.

Hi Jang! Great job. Sadly, the Danes are way too tragically accurate with this fail of a pathetic tiny train station: when I arrived in Hirtshals, Denmark last summer, the station was gone. No shelter, no personnel, no place to sit, just a malfunctioning, unfriendly ticket machine that made me miss my train. When I finally reached Aalborg, the station's great ticket/info office had been gutted, replaced by a closed, dumpy laser tag room. Had to buy my ticket at the 7-11. This set's loser tram platform reflects a sad, creeping privatization blight that is ruining travel in Denmark.

Honestly, too many videos that LEGO content creators label as “reviews” are just like the biased videos you made here. There’s just a severe lack of objectivity in set reviews currently. It’s more like “here’s what I think and based on that here’s my recommendation.” A lot of these reviewers have an influence on young consumers too. In the case that someone reviews a set in a negative way, they’ll go, “well x didn’t like it, so it must not be good.” I appreciate that you factor in your opinion, but also stay objective in understanding to LEGO’s standards and the set’s intended audience. It’s hard to balance, but you do it very well!

A review is inherently biased. Practically by definition a review is just someone giving their opinion on something, and opinions are influenced by biases. To remove bias from a review is to make it just a description, and most people don’t want to watch description videos because we have eyes and can see what comes in sets. Even most of Jang’s videos are extremely biased, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. The actual problem isn’t the reviews themselves, but the mindset of people who watch reviews. Most people who watch reviews are not actually looking to hear what someone else thinks, but just to reinforce their own beliefs they had before they watched the video.

Gonna be honest it seems like you tried extra hard to be negative in some areas. Like saying "woopty-do" to the bicycle for example. Or even your demolishing of the little three-wheeled cart thing which you previously praised for being creative. It feels like you weren't exactly honest with the last video, or at the very least tried your hardest to find the smallest thing that you actually liked about the individual builds. Or is it the other way around? I mean in the positives video it seemed like you channeled your inner 6-year-old self and used more imagination to look at the multiple possibilities where here you looked at the straight practicality of each build. The point is this video feels like you're stretching a lot to point out flaws. Please don't give me much hate. I honestly respect your opinion. In fact, you are my favorite LEGO reviewer on KZbin! I liked it better when Gnajbricks did a review on an Easter set and then Jang did an opposite one. That was good stuff. It was a joke of course but I liked the humor. Also it was a lot shorter. Watching 3 reviews (well 2 not real reviews I guess) of such a large set is too much, I bet many people only watch one of these reviews. I only watched some of the last 2 honestly. Maybe that's the point, people watch what they want to hear. I want to hear the legit unbiased review, which is the one I watched entirely. So yeah that's how I'm personally reacting to this experiment. Wait hold up I just heard the, "You know what this reminds of? The entire set." line ohhhhh this set got roasted. Both positive and negative overviews have been interesting experiments. I don't hate them, but it does make me appreciate Jang's regular reviews. I can also appreciate how hard it is to pick details and points to make about something. It feels like these experiments show us what's on the cutting room floor.

We were going to buy this set, but three things stopped me. 1. It’s expensive. 2. Too many random builds, none of which are particularly amazing. 3. The town/city hall is more of a facade than an actual building. We’re seniors on a fixed income, so I have to look at every element with an extremely critical eye. Not intended for grandkids (as we don’t have any), but for my husband and I to do, to work on something together in our retirement time. So no, unless I could find this for say, half-price? it will just have to stay on the store shelves. Thank you for the video!

It seems to me that this would've been better as half a dozen smaller sets (train & station, town hall & ATV, limo, burger shop, park, stage & handyman cart, helicopter-something like that) across a range of price points, even if the sum of the prices was a bit higher. That would also make it a bit more palatable to parents buying presents for 6-year-olds.

The most worrying thing about this set is it seems to be taking a page from the Marvel Star Wars and Ninjago sets. The most appealing thing in it is the named character minifigs. Many of which are exclusive to this set, such as Mayor Fleck. This is an unheard of dynamic in City, other than the 2 Lego City Undercover game tie in sets that offered a Chase McCain figure.

Critique of the stage seems like a bit of a stretch. Limo and train are definitely a waste of space. Ever since Adventurers I'm a firm believer that the optimal lego cars are 5 wide. Granted, Lego would have to make new molds for cars but it's not like cars don't already have a lot of car specyfic molds. Stickers... I don't want to sound rude but I'm actually happy that you've got those off set stickers. I mean, it's better if big youtuber gets something this bad than hypothetical little Timmy that gets new lego set once every blue moon. Especially set that costs 200$. I'm not even going to talk about different colour bricks, you've said enough. I'm not the biggest fan of named characters either. That and including here police quad and helicopter. I know why they did it, but civil sets are so much rarer than police/firefighter things. I loved your look at this set, listing it's problems while still being able that it's a good set.

The negative critique SOMETIMES feels a little bit forced, as in saying negative things just for the sake of having something negative to say. All in all, I'd like the set overall for what it is and for whom it is primarily intended IF it did not cost those goddamned 200 Bucks (!!!!). Yes, you get a lot, but still not $200 worth of stuff; neither the volume is there nor the piece count.

Actually there is almost everything bad in this set. Compare that limo with limo from set 3222, compare tram with 60097... Actually 60097 was 20$ cheaper and there are so much more things in it.

I’m so annoyed that you clearly missed the biggest problem in this set. The gaps between the tram cars. They are oh-so big when extended. I know it’s near impossible to solve this but I thought there was a chance for LEGO to invent a rubber flex mini tube piece that would close the gaps like real tram cars do.

I actually kind of like this set. I am planing on making a little lego city to start on a big project to make a Giant lego city. I want the start to be a "tiny town" and I think this would fit well. This is just my personal opinion.

My thoughts on alterations (besides just selling each thing separate and making them bigger): -Town Hall: Expand the wings; one side an office, the other side a hall of records. -Police ATV: Remove it. -Fire Helicopter: Add water tank and hose, or water cannon, or water bucket. If not, remove it. -Stage: Use speakers with less depth to expand usable floor space. Otherwise, it's fine as is. Or remove it and add an assembly hall to the town hall. -Limo: Take out the table or use a smaller one, 1x2 width wise, and make the structure behind the driver less bulky. Another seat should be able to fit. -Park Square: Have the statue on one end and ONE full tree at other with the pathway connecting. Bench on one side of path and bike stand on the other. (All this stuff, even the standard build might be too cluttery for a 16x16) -Tram and Station: More seats and stagger them with jumpers leave arm room (that might be advanced for 6+). Replace the overly specialized train front (and back) ends with more brick built design. -Diner: Add at least 4 more studs of the depth to back for just a little more room to pose, and implement the pick up window. -Harl's Cart Thing: Ugh. -Motorcycle: I like it, but the rider doesn't have a helmet. Give them a black one with a black visor (like a certain future faction).

If the buildings and the concert had bigger interiors and the price will be cheaper (like, 50$ less the price to piece ratio is atrocious) id say it would be a pretty nice set

Easy fix for the light rail train. Have 2 doorways not 1 and move it to the middle coach that’s floating. Replicate the window build 2 more times, replace the 2 2x2x2/3 plates with 1x2 snot for 2 1x4 plates for each window build, move seat closest to the drivers cab 1 seat backwards and you could have had 2 seats facing each other with a 1x2 gap repeated twice and a 2x12 Walking space on the other side of the row of seating. Easy fix for 4 seats with room for luggage each side and walking space just by eliminating 1 doorway for both end coaches making 8 seats plus 2 seats for the driver. Not that hard to do LEGO. The playability is instantly better Really enjoyed this social experiment. You should do more social experiment videos on LEGO sets that attract a lot of controversy

Hey, JANG, while this video is a month old, meaning you'll possibly not read this, I still want to add to your critique about part quality, the whole rant you had about more easily-scratched windshields (A trade-off we shouldn't have to deal with) and the reds being so badly varied despite being the same color. I would love you to make a video on, or something on this, because I reported this to LEGO I think nearing two years ago, and they have done NOTHING about it. Grab some curved slope pieces, make sure they are from some of your newest batches from within the past three years, just about. Maybe four. Specifically these part numbers: 6091, 11477, 15068, and 11153. If you look on all of those pieces, if they are from the last three to four years, roughly, you'll see gouges in the curved surfaces. The same gouges in every single one. Near identical. I can say them, and you likely will see the same thing I describe. 6091 - A single line scratch slightly crooked down the center of the center of the curve. 11477 - A single scratch nearing a bit more towards the lower point of the curve in the middle of the part. 15068 - Two diagonal scratches offset towards the sides of the curve angled inwards towards the low point of the curve, and outwards towards the high point of the curve. There is also one smaller scratch at the center right by the bottom of the curve. 11153 - Two smaller scratches offset towards one side of the curve, one higher up, and one lower down, but lined up with each other. These will be on your pieces, I guarantee it, and the worst part is the scratches are getting WORSE. The scratches on 11477, from what I can see, have gotten longer, meaning there is something wrong with the molding machines, or the molds themselves, and if unchecked for too long will result in parts that will start snapping from pressure if they start getting deeper, too. I hope you still check older comments, because seeing this video reminded me of this issue, and I really feel like you should make a video addressing this, because LEGO are at least more likely to listen to you more than they apparently do to their average customer giving a complaint.

Aye, what you're seeing are weld/meld lines from where two advancing fronts of liquified plastic merge together. It's most noticeable on pearl metallic pieces due to the metal flakes physically aligning while on the surface of the liquid, compared to the random distribution deeper in the mix. It's also easier than usual to notice on some of the newer solid color formulations that are less opaque than their older versions (like dark red and I believe flame yellowish-orange). Really only on the metallics is there any defensible excuse for the line to be visible at all, though, and it should never be something you can feel with your fingernail, indicative of reduced pressure and/or heat used in the process. Thanks for bringing this up. I'll be more aware of it and call it out in situations where it's sufficiently obvious on camera.

Thank you, I figured if anyone has a chance to bring it to LEGO's attention in a way they will actually pay mind to, it's you. I fully understand line marks in metallic parts, and think it looks cool even if unintentional, but like you said, the moment you can feel it with your fingernail then it definitely is a somewhat worrying issue to me since they do seem to be getting bigger in the most recent batches. I didn't know how they were caused, I just knew they were concerning to see on parts.

its a tram not train. tram stops only have a sign and nothing else. I never seen a tram station with vending machine, sign with a line map. most dont have platforms so you have to step from the ground and i live in melbourne which is called tram capital of the world

I really hope Creator 3-in-1 will still continue their line of minifig sets, without named characters, and nice creative builds. Stickers have snuck into that theme since recently but thankfully not in all the sets. The Creator Pirate Ship is a Masterpiece imo, and half the price of this. Even Pirates of Barracuda Bay offers way more value imo at the same price of this with it's 2-in-1 ship/island mode.

When you announced the idea of these biased reviews I was very anxiously awaiting this negative review. I tend to look at most things with a very skeptical eye, but this video just kind of made me feel a little depressed and left a bad taste in my mouth. It was quite an amazing ride through the three videos and I actually learned something about myself by watching them. This is just not the type of set that I would buy either way, but just watching the way you picked through it with two (well three) very different mindsets was both impressive to watch, you are very good at what you do. And really makes a person think about how easy your mindset can change the world around you for the good or the bad. I hope that was the intention of the exercise and not just using this as a way to torment the viewers minds, lol. I’m a big fan of what you do and it was this channel that got me back into LEGO as a hobby. I haven’t played with LEGO in more than 20 years and just started buying sets a couple of years ago now. I even convinced my brothers kids to give me back the LEGO from my youth now that they have “out grown it”. It really is a unique toy for people of all ages to play with and it helps keep the mind sharp. Thanks Jang, for helping me get my youth back.

Medium Azure here right after listening to the rose coloured overview. I actually got cranky listening to this and I don't know if it was because I am still doing that difficult task for my course tomorrow night or if the tone from the dark side of the Jang force was insidiously altering my world view. I am just feeling cranky now and not appreciative of Lego at all so I am putting the other review again to pick up my spirits.
