That bearing you've never seen is a version of an Angular Contact Bearing , it has to be pre loaded which means Dyson would need to tell you what torque is required for you to reassemble it, they are used normally in precision assemblies i.e. grinder spindles, car front wheel bearing assemblies and they are very tight when fitted and need to be assembled in clean enviroment's, they are not the same as taper roller bearings.

I was looking them up online last night and saw that they were the same as wheel bearings. I have the machine back together. I didn’t observe any torque settings how. It is turning and it was filthy in there so I’m not holding out that the machine will last. It is too rough to waste money on.

Just for the future, Modern wheel bearings need torquing down otherwise they will rapidly wear out.

Owen, part it out and scrap the rest. But if you got the inner drum out would it be a decent machine? or just video material, cheers

Hard to know if it will ever be decent Andy, I was working on it again today and managed to flood the garage and damage the place where the element goes. it is having issues! There is over a ton of lime blocs in the garden waiting for the axe, any chance to procrastinate is welcome. Anything with Dyson in the title makes money on YT!
