My mom came up with an easy clean up technique for my siblings and me to follow for the Legos. We would lay out a blanket first on the ground (like a throw) and then dump the Lego tote on the blanket. When we were done, we would pick up all of the corners of the blanket and put the lump in the tote and then pull the blanket out. Legos are heavy, but the three of us managed.

My mom framed mine and my brother's board games in the poster frames (plastic cover not glass) and kept the pieces in a bag for us to borrow. We couldn't touch the boards and she knew where the pieces were all the time. They hung on the wall like art in our rooms. I don't know if your boys might like it but I always thought it was genius. I love your videos!! And I appreciate your mom transparency! ☺️

My son just turned 3 and we make him help clean up toys after he is done with them. He doesn't participate in purging toys yet, but I do let him glance at the box of items we plan to part with. He occasionally picks an item out of it, but often doesn't care.

I think it’s awesome that he has figured out how he can play using the minimum amount of toys from the ones he has to check out. If he isn’t needing all 200 train tracks, let him keep just the 10. That’s how they use their imagination to create their own stuff. Also, ask him what he uses the clips for, you never know what their little mind had made up where he uses them. If he’s building stuff that’s great engineering type thinking and problem solving techniques that his mind is working through. I think it’s great!

Good morning Mia, he is clearly a smart kid. He has learned what it takes to keep him happy. You are a great mom. Pick your battles, was the best advice someone gave me. I know you want their rooms cleaned. Showing them how to clean is doing it with them not for them. But I understand it is a lot quicker when you do it. Keep up the great work.

I have twin boy 5 year olds....one of mine likes to "take" things and put it in his trop dresser drawer which also serves as his nightstand/table. When I noticed it I talked to him about things he could take or not take...I think he is just wanting to be more "grown" up and feel important to have important things needing to be stored.

My cousin was doing similar things at that age w/ taking things he wasn’t supposed to and sneaking them away for later. Eventually my aunt had to take the toy cubes out of his room to keep it all in the playroom only. He could keep one small basket of stuffed animals/older kid toys that he wanted away from his younger siblings & that seemed to work well. She also asked him up front why he had hid that stuff away in his room and it was actually bc he likes playing without his siblings in his own room sometimes ❤️

Do a rotate system with the check out system toys. Take out one of those toys and put it in his room while removing other toys to balance the mess. I rotate my sons toys in his room about every month or two depending on ho much he enjoys them. Little man may just be taking things he isn't supposed to have because he really wants to just get them when he wants them. Much love for your videos!🤍

Have you tried the shaving cream heck for the pee smell? Coat the floor in cheap shaving cream, let it sit for twenty minutes and clean. It worked when I tried it on a stinky boy bathroom. For the crayons, have you tried a steam mop or steamer? The heat will melt the wax so you can remove it. Sort of like ironing crayon or candle wax off carpet.

I noticed that you have a Dyson vacuum and I just discovered something amazing about them. Ours came with a bag of attachments that got stuck in a closet and forgotten. Last week I found them and did some googling. There is a wand attachment that is a dusting game changer! It is shaped roughly like a swiffer wand and has a soft purple short fibers on the dusting surface. It works AMAZING for dusting flat surfaces and even walls. All the dust goes right into the vacuum. There were other attachments too which are interesting but not as lifechanging. If I had only known before!

I just cleaned my rug before watching this video! Mine was just as gross as yours, and I just cleaned it a couple months ago. The timing of how often to clean carpet is tricky, because you don’t want to do it too often or the cleaning solution will actually attract dirt. I clean my rugs about every 3-4 months. You probably could do it more often and just go over it with water and make sure you get up as much of the cleaning solution as you can!

I have been doing the mirror cleaning trick for ages. It's the best way for us shorter people to easily reach everything. I have also been using the Amala cloths for years. I love them. I bought a bunch and wash them all at once in the washing machine and lay them flat to dry. I don't use them to clean toilets due to the ick factor. I would probably move the toilet paper away from the toilet before spraying Microban. I worry about little tushies and those chemicals.

My kids steal the clips to. 🤣 I deep clean my kids room once a month. I'm not too hard on them on my room. A therapist once told me that's their space that's their comfort zone that's our spot to get away when they need to. Having said that that same therapist also told me not to worry about cleaning their room and if I didn't clean the room it would literally look like a tornado went off and then that tornado just kept on going. So I have decided I will do it once a month the other 3 weeks it's their room.

Have you tried using just a regular white rubber eraser on the crayon marks? Like the erasers we had in school. Also I keep my designated rags attached to the cleaner bottle with an elastic, that's what my mom always did. So for example, the cloths I use with my windex are secured to the windex bottle with an elastic.

For example, one day at lunch time he was suppose to be putting his plate in the sink but ended up taking a WHOLE BOX of oatmeal pies and took all of them out of the box and put all of them in his play kitchen oven that’s in his room 😂😂😂 he’s 4. I have this carpet cleaner too, and I never thought to do a plain water rinse. I always try to keep passing over it with suction until I don’t get any more soap up, but I know there’s still plenty left in the fibers, making the carpet get dirty faster again. I’ll definitely try it this way from now on!

I have the same rug cleaner, and now I do our living room about every 4- 6 weeks. Bedrooms less frequently. And guess what? If you went over it again, you'd still get a ton of dirt up. 🤢 Or at least I do, and we have 1 kid and have a no shoes in the house rule. 😳 However, something I didn't know is that you should rinse the carpets after shampooing to get the soap up, otherwise dust will cling to it. I hadn't thought of it. Great machine, but the solution tank is really small and you do have to refill it frequently.

I'm so glad you are doing better! I would definitely recommend the Bissell pet plus! I use mine for spot cleaning and go over carpets every other month once with the shampoo and the second time with just water. The "appropriation " is normal as is the bag clip hoarding. I have solved this problem with keeping the bag clips when not in use magnetized to my fridge up high and having a nonconfrontational talk. Lol. Funny how their minds work sometimes. The boy definitely needs his own trash bin.😂🤞👍 You are doing amazing. Also I use disposable towels for the toilet because 🤮 I get nauseous thinking about the cross contamination problems. I can watch the emptying of sludge water with no problem but the crossover would absolutely haunt me. I recommended your channel to Colleen Ballinger as she is having twins.

Just a little trick we learned when our children were young. If they didnt pick up toys after themselves (as seen in your sons room) we confiscated them. If they asked for them, they had to EARN them back with extra chores. Worked like a charm The trash def needs to be addressed, a trash can would be the best. Also, do your children "earn" an allowance? If they do, have him PAY YOU when you have to clean his room.

Melinda, the sad thing is the ruggable in our room is dirtier than the one in the kids room. Tells you where they spend most of their waking hours though their room is literally a stones throw from ours! Finally going to clean it. We have a 9x12 so I just dread drying it but once it is dry (which I HIGHLY recommend “low heat”) even though it takes literally 7 hours to dry. High heat would unevenly dry and actually burn it in some areas. Did that unfortunately with a rope basket that I was trying to dry quick. 😄💞#MomLife

I think he should get to pick which system he waants and let him keep enough for him to play with on his own for as long as he can keep it contained and tidy. It shows him and the other boys that if you are able to take care of your toys you get trusted to HAVE the toys. Hey you should definitely use paper towels on the toilet always! I know we hate wasting but on things where bodily fluids are involved I feel like it’s better to just throw that paper towel out rather than wash a rag really well and potentially reuse in your kitchen! You could also try to keep that rag as the “toilet rag” so there’s no contamination

I have certain rags just for my toilet. Just like I have certain rags just for my kitchen.

I don't undrestand the point of the "cloth" cleaners. They do the same thing as a cotton rag, but they don't last as long and can't be reused for years

My Aunt used to live with her three grandsons and would you shaving cream to remove the urine smell. Just cover the toilet and the floor around. Leave it for a while then wipe up.
