I realize I'm like 7 months late to the party, so probably no one will see this. For those of you with smaller kitchens/families and an Instant Pot - the company makes a glass lid for the 'crock pot' setting. Clearly I'm not the only one who's comforted by being able to look at my food while it slow cooks, and this enabled me to ditch my crock pot so that I didn't have two biggish appliances taking up space.

I'd recommend putting some felt feet/pads on the bottom of the baskets in your new bar cart. I have had baskets wear down the paint on some of my shelves, the felt feet/pads help keep the baskets from scraping on the paint over time :)

I am living in my homestead with my Dad. My late Mom has a good -- last forever- set of kitchen tools. Cooking spoon, slotted spoon, meat fork, icing knife spreader thing for spreading icing on cakes, serious knives, potato masher, paddle spatula. They are stainless steel with heavy plastic handles. Virtually indestructible.I took out the things I will never use and kept the others. But then I also have some of my own things that I could declutter because they are old and plastic. I hate to split up that good set. I did this several months ago and still have them here. I did break a plastic spatula this week so it went in the trash. I did empty a drawer this week.

The new kitchen cart makes a world of difference! Love it. I'm similar to you that I try to repurpose and don't just buy more items, I try to be intentional about my purchases, BUT certainly items can hold you back from being able to organize and can breed clutter! Especially when the clutter can be hidden. I would just toss your appliance manuals honestly , they can typically be downloaded online or worst case requested from the company or call product support. I find I never use them but feel like I'm supposed to keep them. Love the mugs hanging inside the cabinet. Genius! I also think it works well to tuck things like the small supplement bottles in a labeled bin. I've been doing a ton of cleaning and downsizing too, on my way to the thrift store. My favorite by me supports the patient assistance fund for a large mental health non profit so it's a win win!

Hey Natalie! Just started to rewatch your Messy to minimal series after today's video about what you've learned throughout this year and wanted to thank you for all the motivation you have given to so many people to improve their lives by reducing physical clutter around them. It has definitely helped me to improve my environment, to be more mindful about what new things I bring into my house, and significantly reduce the time it takes to clean my house since there's less stuff to move around. Thank you and hope that the new year brings us all good things and happy memories! 🧡

I had to come back to watch this one as kitchen decluttering is one of my big goals before my son is born in June. My husband moved into our house just under a year ago (and I followed a month later when we got married), so we're still figuring out the whole kitchen organization thing. This next organization will be attempt 3. We have lots of cabinet space,but a lot of it is very awkward and we have lots of big appliances that we love, but are hard to store. This definitely gave me some inspiration.

We did a big purge of our house about 4 months ago, and now with us preparing to move I'm paring down even further of the things we haven't used it have realized don't work so well for us. Makes it so much easier to only pack up the things we know we'll use after!

Just now found your channel and love it. My husband may blame you if I start attacking my house and decluttering. Love the cart for the coffee, super cute. Can't find anything to nitpick you about, only that I see your flatware drawer still looks very crammed. Consider moving your cutting boards to a different area (under your sink?) if you can to give yourself two drawers for flatware. Love that you have a drawer just for your kiddos so they can explore their independence and getting their dishes. I noticed you have two areas of your ziploc bags (cause I watched your pantry/laundry room declutter before this one), try combing all things together. You can also put your drying fiber cloth for dishes along with your kitchen towels. We currently have 3 of those, since we don't have a dishwasher and go through them like crazy. Keep up these videos, love them!

Consider hanging command hooks from the inside of the cabinet door to hang items. Also, I only keep kitchen cleaning supplies under my sink. I keep the rest in my linen closet. I would keep a child lock on the cabinet with cleaning supplies. Your kids may know not to get in there but their friends may not. Your kitchen looks well organized overall. Thank you for sharing.
@KaraRobinson4124 жыл бұрын
This just came up on my list of suggested videos, and I thought I would ask how the mug hooks are doing now, almost a year later. I've used them before, and was quite thankful that I just had my kids' plastic mugs hanging, because the changes in temperature and humidity caused them to fail after a few months (basically once the start of summer hit).

Great video! I wonder if your pressure cooker (currently on the coffee cart) would fit by the bread maker in the upper cabinet? I always prefer closed storage bc it's so much less dusty, and looks neater. And instead of having all that glassware in the coffee cart (dusty, dangerous), try putting canned goods or snack items there-- it won't matter so much if they're dusty, and they won't break. Just a thought.
@nicoleliller18084 жыл бұрын
Your new kitchen cart with the baskets is almost the exact same thing I've been thinking about for a few years as well. I just hate the thought of the baskets not having lids and dust and other things getting inside the bowls and kitchen supplies. (germophob here!) I love the look of the baskets, and I have several around my house, but I hate the fact that they don't wipe clean as easily as a plastic-type material would. Not sure what to do!

Have you ever considered doing a spice drawer? I recently made that change in my kitchen, and it's so much easier to find everything. I put the spice jars down on their side and line them up in the drawer so I can see them all at once with their labels showing.
@NatalieBennett5 жыл бұрын
We had one in a previous house and I noticed that my bigger spice containers simply didn't fit so I ended up with TWO places for spices and that just made matters even worse! 🙈
@mondfalkin37814 жыл бұрын
Very nice made and motivating video. If this would be my kitchen, I would put a unit on the right side of the stove and put all spices in the first 2 drawers, then put the fridge where currently the Barista station is located. This nice Barista station I would put on the left side of the sink, and remove the unit which is there... because it is more practical to have the spices in a drawer close to the stove and more counter space as well water for refilling and cleaning close to the tea and coffee 😁...
