There is nothing like getting your hands and feet dirty for Jesus by helping our neighbors in their time of need. Three weeks ago I heard the song “Welcome Home” by Shelley King on my way to church, after watching a portion of a video on Helene in Appalachia before leaving home. The song was not through the first verse before I was overwhelmed with the necessity to get to North Carolina as soon as possible. That week after gathering supplies and making local contacts … Burnsville, NC become the destination. After two weeks of being back home I am still reeling from what was experienced. Next week I will go to Boone, NC for more relief work for the families in that area. God offers us so many opportunities to carry His blessing to those in need. My message is “Get your hands and feet dirty for Jesus!” Thank you for your experience and sharing it with all of us on KZbin.

Thank you so much for answering the call and for your obedience to God. I’m sure you experienced something similar to us in that what you saw was vastly worse than what you had expected based on the pics and videos you’d seen prior. It’s just indescribable. The widespread damage is incomprehensible, but together, the hands and feet of Jesus, can make a difference. Together, we can help Appalachia heal, recover, and eventually rebuild. 💙☀️🙏🏼

I absolutely LOVE the lady with her own equipment and her own grit to get things done even if it was just her !!!!! My kind of hard working woman right there!!! Wow just WOW !! WHY isn’t anyone helping her ???????
@wildflowersadventures15 күн бұрын
I know, right?!?! I loved meeting her!!! She is an amazing woman. This is the people of Appalachia. If they have the means, they just do it. And if they don’t, they figure it out as best as they can. They are strong and resilient! I’m not sure why no one has been helping her. My guess is that there’s just SO much to do and not enough hands and feet. It’s hard to imagine the level of destruction, but there’s simply not enough people to do what needs to be done.

@@wildflowersadventures Is there any public/ county dumping area this woman goes to dump trash?
@wildflowersadventures14 күн бұрын
@Matt999PL She has made big piles on the adjacent lot for now as a centralized collection point. I’m not sure what the next step is. She has 2 dump trucks to utilize for transportation. I imagine the city has a dump, but I’m guessing they have had to make additional sites for all the excess debris.

I get called to the living room and my wife is watching YT. She has me sit down to watch this awesome lady and her family that have come to Erwin, 25 minutes away from my house, to volunteer and help the people here. Yeah, it's you guys. I got prickly heat...that blood dropping to your feet feeling... I apologize for being hard on your AT ending. I appreciate you're coming back here to help. That trail means very little right now...what you are doing means everything. Thank you. You are truly inspirational. And, this whole thing freaks me out...just a tiny bit..lol... Just heard about a horrible flooding in Spain, several hundred people died. The country sent 2500 military to help clean up and are sending another 5000 to the task. How many military was sent to this disaster? Why do we see hundreds of volunteers and very few military?
@wildflowersadventures11 күн бұрын
I heard about it, too. It’s so sad. I’m so sorry they are experiencing that now. I’m not sure how much of our military has responded. I know they have been there and have read reports of 10,000+ National Guard, Air Force, Army, and Army Corp of Engineers have responded with heavy equipment, helicopters, high rise vehicles and boats. I’ve seen on other vlogs that they have had a significant presence.

Thank you for your kind words. Emotions are running high, and people are lashing out. That’s ok. I can take it. I get it. Initially, I was very uncomfortable making this video, but after being asked by locals, I just had to. Too many have said that people are already forgetting about them and that breaks my heart. I understand though. It’s not malicious, but when things stop getting media coverage, it quickly becomes out of sight and out of mind. It’s going to be a very long road to recovery. We can’t let people forget. I even met 7 people in Georgia….seven!!! who had been told that the devastated areas already had too many supplies and too many volunteers. One person said that they heard 500 volunteers had been turned away because there just wasn’t enough work for them. That could not be further from the truth!! The amount of physical work needed is incalculable! So, if making this video raises awareness, gets the truth out, and encourages people to help, that’s a good thing. @wildflowersadventures No, my immediate family would never lower themselves to feed the homeless or do what y'all are doing. It's not their problem. I moved from TX to the NC/SC border, by myself. To me, to care, means taking action, every opportunity that presents itself. YHWH places people in my path, that he knows I will help. Animals too.That's what I do. I realized long ago that my family and I don't have the same depth of feeling or commitment. You can plant the thought, the seed, and pray that it gets watered. Please keep teaching your kids. One pastor from a church delivering items to remote locations said EVERYTHING on main stream media is inaccurate. For instance at a certain point in Lake Lure they pulled out 70 bodies. There were more they had to mark for later retrieval. The loss of life is in the thousands.

My parents' house took 6 feet of water in hurricane Ike. When the water receeded, it sucjed everything out of the windows and through the brick walls it knocked down. . I know it feels like life will never be "normal" ever again, but with time, people will get to a new normal. God be with each and every one of them. ❤

God Bless You and Your Family for coming here to our mountains to help! Thank You for posting this. Here's a testimony about the Hands of an Almighty God: We live in one of the NC counties hit by this, but not nearly as hard as some others. Our little town does not have a Wal-Mart. All roads out of town were closed for several days. When we could, my wife and I made the trip off our mountain to a Wal-Mart about 45 miles east to a town untouched by the storm. The store was busy and many of the shelves were empty, especially water and non-perishable food and goods. I talked to several employees of the store, asking who all was buying up the goods and the answer I got brought tears to my eyes; "It all the local people here in our town. They are buying up goods and taking them to local companies that have tractor trailers, loading them up and hauling them up in the mountains." One employees last word is "God wont let them mountain people go without if we got anything to do with it!" I know one of the companies was hauling multiple truck loads to Irwin too. Our tiny county has many volunteer fire departments, a volunteer rescue squad, and many churches. The supplies kept coming... Fire departments had to park their trucks outside to house all the donations and truck loads of goods; and it kept coming... Finally, redistribution got organized and the goods not needed here were sent to all the other needy areas... tractor trailer load after tractor trailer load; then you started seeing all the videos of the interstates backed up with loads of supplies and hay for the cattle and horses, from all over the country... and money - millions and millions of dollars - mostly from individuals. Well, you get the point! Then I see you guys taking out cloths from bags that could have come from anywhere. GOD IS GREAT! America is GREAT because of the people and because we are mostly still "One Nation Under God"! Thank You All Again and all the other people who have helped and continue to help. This disaster is not over... it's just begun!

The rest of our family quickly understood the connection and love Little Bear and I have for Appalachia. They share that love and connection now, too. Initially, I was very uncomfortable making this video, but after being asked by a number of locals to do so in an effort to continue raising awareness, and seeing the majority of the feedback we’ve gotten, I now know it was the right thing to do. And, sadly, we hiked a small section in Georgia and met 7 people….7 people!!! who had all been told that Appalachia has what they need and too many volunteers. One hiker said he heard that 500 volunteers were turned away because there wasn’t enough work. I was shocked! I’m thankful I was able to help them understand the truth. Thank you! 😊 Yes, please, please keep trying. Once you get there, you’ll see why it may have been hard to coordinate with someone and get a direction in how to help. The devastation is truly unimaginable. Some people think they’re already in the rebuilding process…and maybe a small number are….but there’s also people still searching for their missing loved ones presumed deceased and buried under all the mud and rubble. There’s families sleeping in tents. I don’t mean to sound so harsh, but that’s the reality you quickly understand once you get there. Please, please keep trying. It’s going to be a long road, but together we can make a difference. Hey there, Karen. So glad to see your video. Haven't actually watched yet, just your first few minutes and disclaimer. Wanted to stop and comment to thank you for going. I feel like all I've done since this happened is watch videos, and it's just heartbreaking. I'm very familiar with almost all the areas that have been affected. Before my husband and I moved from South to North Georgia some years ago, we seriously considered moving to several of the affected towns that have now been heavily damaged or pretty much wiped off the map. Have always had a yearning to live in the mountains. Had to be content with the foothills close to where the Trail begins. But every chance we got after moving to North Georgia, we always chose to go further into the mountains on day trips or short vacations, plus did the entire Blue Ridge Parkway 1-1/2 times. My church has sent a disaster team up there, so I've participated financially. But now, I feel I'm going to have a virtual visit to help while I watch y'all do so. I became so invested in your and Little Bear's hike that I felt like you were family by the time it was over. I'm grateful you didn't have any more damage from Hurricane Milton than you did, and now I'm grateful to see you help the dear people north of me. God bless you for your hearts of compassion. Don't know if you'll do more than this video while there, but I'll certainly be watching if you do. Much love. ♥ PS: They have not been forgotten. All the vloggers I follow are either going, or disseminating information on how people can help. My perception is that many are now choosing to contribute to places like Samaritan's Purse, as they help rebuild. And people from all over the country are contacting these vloggers to ask what they can do. Perhaps they feel the media has forgotten them, but the populace has not.
@wildflowersadventures15 күн бұрын
Thank you so much. It is truly heartbreaking. Whilst dealing with our 2 hurricanes, we watched countless videos on social media, too….watching the devastation unfold was so difficult. Little Bear and I just sobbed because we became very connected to Appalachia while on our hike. Even after seeing it in video, I was not prepared for what I saw. The devastation is indescribable. My husband even said that our video and others he had seen just don’t show the magnitude of the destruction. So many times since being back home, all my family keeps saying is how much we desperately want to be back. But, sadly, we have to work and live here. So we will continue to contribute in any way that we can. I’m happy to hear other vloggers have continued to keep the need alive and on the forefront. Unfortunately, people do quickly forget if they don’t see it….nothing intentional, just an out of sight, out of mind kinda thing. And I heard from too many locals that many do feel like we’re forgetting. That breaks my heart and I want to do everything possible to help. Thank you for your kind heart and compassion. God bless you and your willingness to help. It’s gonna take all of us to help them recover and rebuild. 💙☀️🙏🏼

I'm 73 and I can't believe this was natural, evil forces are afoot, we can feel it, they told they would do it a long time ago,so we just have to turn it back to them, good can always turn it around, we will not lose our true hearts to the evil ,our savior is with us all ,love you brothers and sisters, it will take years to build back, but build back we will and it will be more beautiful than before, no lies, no greed, no hate, for we are the children of the One and only.

Churches are basically closing their doors to God by not helping the needy.

This has always been what I have wanted to do … find volunteer opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I love that you guys were able to do this. It is amazing. I pray the people would feel so loved in the wake of this tragic event. Thank you for serving. Do you guys follow a website that posts volunteer opportunities?

Hey there! 😊 We were called and we chose to be obedient. God provided everything else. We feel blessed to be able to help in any way that we can. Yes, while there are a number of wonderful organizations helping, the ones we follow and worked with are the Cajun Navy Relief and Boone’s Brigade. Both have constant postings in their Facebook groups that will lead you to volunteer opportunities. 💙☀️🙏🏼

Ok. I'm watching this....look....I've torn down old houses, etc. Be very very careful walking around wood, debris, nails, sheet metal, snakes, mud, places to fall....and falling in that you will get hurt, cut, etc. Heavy work if possible is for men. More physical assignments best left to them, if possible. The org you're helping should Divy up the work as such, overall if there are any men volunteering. Yod be great also delivering goods, supplies to folks who can't get it. Locally...not too far. Again, you'd need some type of locals to guide you and I'm sure you have a group leader who knows their crew and where they are. Be careful. Looters, etc., are out. Book of Proverbs, get wisdom. Great work you're doing.
