DISASTER STRIKES NESTING BIRDS | Bird photography in Iceland

This spring started off well for the birds. In late May, a snowstorm struck the country, resulting in terrible consequences for the birds. We've been photographing birds and wildlife for the past few weeks, and this video showcases our photography experience so far in Grímsey and at Lake Mývatn.

I was at Myvatn when the storms hit at start of June. (annual pilgrimage). Hit the birdlife really hard. Only just managed to get back to Akureyri by road and onto Grimsey (rough crossing!). One week later I was on Myvatn lake shore at midnight in a t-shirt watching the sun go down....... That's Iceland! Crazy weather!

Thank you for this amazing video. I left on 1st June and may have seen you photographing grebes and phalaropes on Stakhólstjörn. Sorry to hear the weather turned bad, I felt for the Red-necked Phalaropes that arrived early and struggled to feed, hoping they recover and raise their broods.
