Great review! Koch is not meant to be used on tires. However, Adams still did better cleaning the wheels. Tires too, but that was expected. You’re correct that the cleaner will be diluted through the foam cannon. Heavily diluted, actually. It’s a good method for maintenance cleaning. 👍🏼

Loved the review, Jeremy! To be fair, MWC does not state anywhere on the bottle that it should be used on tires. They’ve never advertised it as a wheel and tire cleaner. With that said, I was surprised on how poorly it performed on the wheel cleaning aspect. It looks like it does a better job at cleaning heavily baked on brake dust than it does trying to clean off grime like the wheels in this video. I hope you continue to test MWC in future videos on other heavily dirty wheels. Thank you!
@HawaiiDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree. With a name like magic wheel cleaner I was hoping for more action on the rims. I have determined its a better iron remover than wheel cleaner. I just wished they would sort out their names and descriptions to be more understandable to the general public. Thanks for watching and I will definitely give it another chance. I am a fan of koch chemie for sure. The problem with youtube is people want to see the hardest cleaning possible and when you do it some products don't hold up and others shine. That definitely does not mean that its not a great product it just may be suited more for delicate clean ups where stripping off dirt and grime is not needed. This would be great for removing light brake dust and not stripping away protection. Thanks for watching.

P. S. I like using one product for both the wheel & tire.
@Ruhdiculus2 жыл бұрын
I was going to comment this as well. I did a set of nasty wheels and tires and I only used MWC for the wheel, and something stronger for the tires. Some thing like Shine Supply Wise Guy, or Optimum Power Clean straight on tires. I think maybe if you had different tools for cleaning the wheels it would help; I don't think just the wheel brush is enough for wheels and tires that hammered. I've used MWC on really dirty wheels, dirty with allt of brake dust, and just break dust. I think MWC did a good job and I love the way it foams and pulls dirt. I think any wheel cleaner on wheels like this need multiple times of agitation, and re-application.
@micd92562 жыл бұрын
If a product designed specifically for wheel cleaning can’t do better than a product that does wheels and tires, it’s a no-brainer. Koch Chemie made a big push on KZbin when they entered the US market. Nice to see someone finally giving an honest opinion rather than unearned flattery just because Koch Chemie gave out free product.
@L0n3W0lfBl4ck2 жыл бұрын
It’s a chemistry equation, KC is on the acidic side of the PH scale, where PnS is on the alkaline side of the scale. So depending on what was on the rim one will work better than the other, if it’s dirt and mud the likely the alkaline cleaner will perform better but if it iron and other metal/minerals for break dust etc the acidic cleaner will probably work better.

Nice! Adams has become my go-to as well. With my own well-maintained vehicles, I'll either dilute it 1:1 or sometimes 1:3 and still get good results. When I'm doing vehicles with nasty wheels, I'll use it straight. A powerful, economical product when used this way!

I want to clarify a few things. The MWC product description is as follows: The Magic Wheel Cleaner is a powerful, viscous, acid-free rim cleaner that provides innovative performance to mildly and thoroughly clean rims and rim wells. Its reactive component dissolves iron particles with characteristic red discoloration. Special dispersing agents gently remove stubborn dirt from surfaces. My intentions for the video was to test it on the rim, barrels and why not tires while I am at it. I know it does not claim to clean tires but most other wheel cleaners do so i tried it anyway. I sprayed it on the dry rim face and tires to give an undiluted application with maximum dwell time. After pressure washing it off re-applying and scrubbing for a while I decided to switch to Adams wheel and tire cleaner to get the job done. This was not my original plan. I just knew MWC was not cleaning like I wanted it to. That is not to say its not a good product in different circumstances. I think MWC is best used as an iron remover to add another layer of cleaning to the wheel cleaning process. The problem I have with this is the name on the bottle and the product description on the bottle and the website do not mention anything about using companion products to complete the work. They say its a magic wheel cleaner and describe it as removing stubborn dirt from surfaces. I am sure for mild maintenance type clean ups where a delicate cleaner is needed to not damage rim surfaces or not strip off protection this is a great product. You do not always need to have the strongest possible cleaner for each job. I am always asked to test these products in the worst case scenario and products sometimes don't hold up to that challenge or were not intended to do that type of work. I am a fan of Koch Chemie and like some of the products they offer. Clearly written product description and user expectations would help this product out for sure. koch Chemie is famous for users mixing home brews to get the most out of the products. This is cool too. I like it but many consumers want a ready to go product. I try my hardest to stay on label when I test each product. I want my viewers to see my real thoughts, a real test and honest review with no BS. One last thing Adams wheel and tire did the back of the rim, tire and barrels in one application and easily removed this grime with no effort so it was not an impossible cleanup. Hahahaha. Thanks for following the channel. I have a big 2022 planned and I plan to do a video 1 day a week and more when I can. I appreciate each and every subscriber and want to help you in anyway that I can. Don't hesitate to ask me anything.

but you diluted the second time you applied the product onto a wet wheel.. there's no point in applying it then rinsing it off. that's a complete waste. just pressure wash wheel first then apply product let sit a minute then scrub and rinse or all away. no need to blow through product. to "see what it'll do" on its own. lol. get the job done and don't waste time
@Scyths13 ай бұрын
He tried twice and then added another product lmao. If he had tried any other product for the 3rd cleaning the result would have been the exact same. This is a waste of a review because 99% of fair reviewers will tell you that Koch Chemie & CarPro are the best if you're willing to spend the money, but here comes the 1%'er out there to show you HIS favourite product after incorrectly using the previous one.

To be fair, the Koch product is really more of an Iron Remover than a wheel cleaner. Similar to Iron X by CarPro. This wheel and rim was loaded with dirt, mud and grime and didn't look like it had much brake dust/iron particles on it, otherwise it would be turned red after the Koch was applied. I found Iron removers are not great at cleaning a dirty rim but are great at taking off brake dust/iron particles. Probably doesn't help that Koch do label it as a 'Wheel cleaner' and not an Iron Remover but Gyeon and even Meguiars do the same. Iron Removers do almost nothing on dirty tyres also. The Adams wheel and tyre cleaner is amazing for dirty wheels and tyres. I find it even better than P&S Brake Buster but it is more expensive. On a truly dirty and brake-dusted rim though, I use both an Iron Remover and then a wheel cleaner to get the cleanest result.

MWC is an iron product for wheel maintenance decon. Wasn’t surprised at all that it didn’t cut through dirt. It has the same pH as a glass of milk. Try it for break dusty wheels. That’s where it shines. Great iron bleeding and a thick lather.
@HawaiiDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Yes I know. I agree with you. Thanks. Everyone asked me to test it on a tough wheel. I did. It was like spaying on a glass of milk. That’s funny. Hahaha. I get it and understand it’s best uses. I wrote about it in the description. They need better product labeling because the bottle and description reads like a magical wheel cleaner that promises to be great on tough grime but its more like an iron remover that has mild detergents for light to medium maintenance washes. In that lane it’s a great product. I love Koch chemie products and I had no intention of being hard on it when I bought it. Even though I love them I have to share my personal thoughts on products with everyone either way good or bad. In this case the bottom line is I did not really enjoy using this product as much as I had hoped I would and there are better options out there. I am always looking for the next great product. About 10 years ago turtle wax had a wheel cleaner that said do not agitate and smelled really acidic (don’t know if it was) but a wheel this bad and the brake dust would just run right off the wheel with it. This video just reminded me of it and I’d like to see if I could find it again.

I have wheels covered with all sorts of available products but tires, specifically browning, has been a tough thing to tackle for me so far. Anyway I only ask because I want to pick up a bit for my own use and just wanted to make sure I'm buying the correct product and correct version of the product but the Amazon Adams wheel and tire cleaner looks like a different color compared to yours and I'd like to get exactly what you're using.

The link in the description is the same exact stuff. The colors may be off in the pics. It’s a great product for tough jobs. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.

Great video. Quick question: Do you store BB or Adam's in the MTM bottle or do you pour it back into the original bottle?
@HawaiiDetailing2 жыл бұрын
I store it in the bottle but I remove the foam cannon and just put a lid on the bottle.

Is adams safe for anodized an gloss painted wheels my truck is on my pics with my wheels

Magic wheel cleaner is for disaster rims. Not tires. And you’re supposed to let it dwell 5 minutes. It’s actually ten times better than brake buster. It’s supposed to be viscous so that cleaning agents and iron remover doesn’t dry faster and cleans longer.

Man I may have to switch from break buster after seeing this. Do you dilute the Adams?
@HawaiiDetailing2 жыл бұрын
You can dilute Adam’s as well. I am still a huge brake buster user on normal clean ups. It’s a great wheel cleaner for the price. I tend to use Adam’s for the tough stuff. Thanks for watching

Will this be safe to clean rusted rotors?
@HawaiiDetailing2 жыл бұрын
If there are too rusted they will need to be serviced. If it’s cosmetic then I would use this and clean them up. Thanks for watching

Do you have a video of the products you use on a regular basis when detailing?

Here is a link to one of my recent viideo's. I did three must have product videos. You should check the out. here is a ink to one and in the description are links to the others. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXjcgYGsfc2DjdE. I use all these products regularly and they all work great. Joey, if you live in the States, I would encourage you to use American Made products...

That looks about the easiest wheel design to clean. Try a 1999 Silverado LT wheel.

Great video!! MWC would be useless to carry, imo. Might as well just carry a real wheel cleaner like Adams and a better iron remover that you can also use for the rest of the vehicle like Iron X. So funny how people make excuses like, “Adams was just cleaning what MWC left behind” and “Magic Wheel Cleaner was never advertised as a wheel and tire cleaner” hahaha wtf. Would you say that the Adam’s Tire Cleaner works better than Brake Buster? I was using Brake Buster recently and was kinda wishing it had more teeth. So, I had considered using Maguiars but just haven’t pulled the trigger on acid cleaners
@HawaiiDetailing2 жыл бұрын
It’s stronger for sure. I think BB is better for maintenance washes and Adam’s for the deep cleaning. Just my thoughts. Thanks for watching

10:00 I've been thinking about using a spray mist bottle since those give a nice even coat and require less trigger action. I already have one, but I'm not sure if it's suitable for strong chemical products like a brake cleaner. 😅

Honestly I find the the more mid tier products(Adams, CG, p&s, turtle wax) have been doing better work than any of the fancy chemicals Ive gotten. So why spend more when these products are doing just as well. Just my train of thought :)

thats for maintanence washes not for heavy build up when 1st time washing a wheel
@HawaiiDetailing2 жыл бұрын
I like it for routine washes as it’s less harsh on the wheels and any added protection you have on them. It’s economical and cleans well. One of my favs for sure. Thanks for watching
