Disbanding REME Company's Last Parade 24.09.13

The first of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineer companies to be disbanded under Army 2020 have held their final parade in Fallingbostel.
50 "Off Platform Repair Company" have spent the last five years in Germany, but their roots extend much further than that.

I am so glad that this video exists - Arborfield does not forget. We miss the REME and only have a few sad reminders that you were once the brilliance of our village. Your Library still exists, the rugby pitches plus a few of your security signs (we still chuckle at the signs with foaming mouthed Alsatians on them) - it's a ghost town without you boys now, but we will remember you all

I joined the Reme and went to Arborfield in 1987 loved my time there. Really sad to see my history being dissolved over time.

I was at fallingbostel in the 1950s at 7 armoured workshops. strange to see the old block 39 on u tube after all these years

I was REME back in1952. Served in Singapore, HongKong Sek Kong new territories.

Bring back WORKSHOPS - Base and Field - and LIGHT AID DETACHMENTS . REME never used to work in 'battalions' and 'companies'!! But then again it has vacated Arborfield Garrison and even Bordon. Ah... the old days. (Ex Tels Tech REME and honourary member of the 'black hand gang' (YES, I got my hands dirty with vehicle oil and exhaust deposits working with the VMs too!)

I still remember that parade to this day. I even see my ugly mug . Some of the best years of my Army service were at 50 OPR and finally 5BN in Bielefeld. I actually miss it. Paddy
