I'm not sure if it would add distance to the 360, but something you could try is initiating the rotation by throwing your right arm behind you. If you watch wiggins or lizotte they both do this
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 ай бұрын
That's a great suggestion, the guy helping me with form on dgcoursereview suggested it as well so I tried it out a month or two ago but it never felt right for me, oddly enough. I think it may be because the arm swing I use is more similar to my sprinting form so it gives me slightly better results for my situation 👍

I like the whole setup, it's fresh and offers something a bit different. I'm just getting into my first 360 throws and developing a form, I've been watching your videos over that past month or two and I'll keep watching if you're going throw over 800. My first throws were just over 400, felt weird throwing at faster speeds so I had to slow down, it felt natural and the disc was actually releasing somewhat where it needed to. I digress.. Thank you for the videos of your form and insight to your where your mind is when going into training. This is helping me learn and I'm sure it's helping others as well!!!😊

I've added a few of your warm ups to my routine the hip flexer one has worked well for me and have gained blood flow and felt back pain relief. 90mph is right around the corner broham. What are your thoughts on using a more than max weight disc for training (into a net). Basically if you are used to throwing more than max weight, then going down to max weight would feel like when you go down to something lighter than max weight and might help boost arm speed? I was thinking lead tape or even super gluing two light discs together lol. Of course it will mess up the weight balance or change the grip feel but maybe that's not a big concern if just throwing into a net.
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 ай бұрын
It's something I think could be of huge training value, heavy implements force us to find an efficient kinetic chain much quicker than lighter implements :) especially for bigger stronger individuals who can get away with sloppy form. Just haven't gotten around to needing it to push through a plateau yet but that could come soon. I also think Gateway makes extremely heavyweight Wizards (close to 300g).

@@NickKrush.DGandFit oh wow, didn’t know there were any extra heavy discs, I’ll check it out. Just gotta be more careful about injury and easy into it.

we have the aerospace engineers at mvp making discs and now we have the aerospace engineer with max distance capability. i feel like we need those two worlds to collide somehow - curious what your thoughts are on gyro discs.
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 ай бұрын
I could type my fingers off about that but I’ll try not to here haha. I love the technology and what it does for the moment of inertia of the discs, I personally have noticed more of a difference with their putters than the drivers. The proxy for example, flies incredibly straight for much much power it holds. I haven’t calced the MOI numbers but I’m suspicious the MOI is more greatly enhanced on putters than drivers because of putters generally having a more even mass distribution from flight plate to rim in non gyro discs.

Nothing gets "ingrained in the spinal cord", but you build better neural connections to the muscles and an activation pattern in your brain that let's you treat a complex multistep movement like a single, simpler one. It's how we walk, sit down, get up from the floor etc, all without really thinking about it. The spinal cord is just a cable though. It carries information, but doesn't hold any information.
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 ай бұрын
I think we probably mostly agree and it’s an issue of semantics (where I miscommunicated by saying the whole motor pattern script is contained in the spine), here’s one of the studies I was referring to: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17250566/

I've heard from many people online that playing rounds of disc golf with putters only can help you improve because a putter will reveal your flaws more than a high-speed disc. I believe that the blunt leading edge of a putter will be more forgiving to various angles-of-attack, and thus hide throwing flaws. I'm just guessing based on my own limited knowledge of aerodynamics. Can you give your opinion on this based on your expertise in aerospace engineering?
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 ай бұрын
Good question, it can go both ways. Putters are more sensitive to off-axis torque (wobble), so they expose form flaws in those terms. But, like you said, their shape reduces how much the center of lift moves forward and aft (vs. angle of attack) on the airfoil which reduces the rolling moment induced by gyroscopic forces (turn and fade). So, their perceived "stability" or "turn" isn't as affected by nose angle as drivers, but I think they still punish you distance-wise for poor nose angles (more airflow induces pressure-drag inside of deeper rear rim). Certainly something that has to be closely monitored nonetheless but I personally love using them as a tool 👍

@@AxisDiscPowers oh no I hate when that happens, especially after typing such a detailed comment. From a power generation perspective, I was happy with how you sequenced your body. The one thing I see that could help you the most is to try and slow down your backswing a touch and keep the wrist more in a nose down and slightly curled position. It looks like it may have gotten loose during the reachback and the disc's wing angle and nose angle changed a lot during the pull through which could make accurate throwing more difficult.

@@NickKrush.DGandFit In my mind I'm holding the disc with some tension down as a teapot, slightly curled wrist and forearm slightly twisted forward. It feels like I have that all the way through so the video surprises me. But yeah, the extension is maybe a bit violent. A remnant of trying to find the rubberband effect. It is definitely a lot of rubberbanding going on in the drunken kung fu style I'm rocking here. It looks like I launch it nose up straight up in the air, but It's just an optical illusion. It doesn't go higher than 20 feet in the air. Not a good angle from the ground. But yeah, maybe I am losing lag when I throw it back that violently. Gonna experiment with that. Thanks!

Car talk was great, always known that closed plant is vetter but never knew that it activates glutes better. Do you aim more left than x-step looks from camera or is the disc just hard to grip in high velocity?
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 ай бұрын
Great question! I think I was struggling with some timing issues coming from my lower body on this particular session, so I had quite a few early releases as a result. Some of it could also be the zoomed in rear camera that is off to the left of me, but I’m hoping to clean it up next time out 👍

Thanks for clarity. Sometimes the camera angle lies a little. Usually when someone is throwing really fast they are more like late grips. Really like these in depth golden nuggets of information that is in your content. Keep going! Maybe touch little bit more for brace and posterior chain in some video? something im really picking up on which i noticed you doing it with your stand stills and now i see it on every throw no matter the intended angle of release is how you realllly show your back to the target much more then most and notice all the best pros do this too. its almost like youre rounding but you are not of course its really like how Lizotte talks about getting your planter foot out more to the right and naturally to do that you need to show your back or open up the hips i thinks is the correct terminology. so its like you throw to the left of the line whereas most ppl like myself have our shoulders on the line the whole way vs you only get your shoulder on the line at the last second after exploding onto the line idk if that makes sense? like you release to the left of the cones vs most would release on the line of the cones or slightly to the right of the cones!

Any tips on increasing spin? Apparently I'm throwing with fast arm speed but my spin is abysmal
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 ай бұрын
It's hard for me to give strong recommendations without doing form analysis of you individually, but in general I have found that pulling the disc deeper into the pocket and having it leverage/fling around the hand/fingers closer to release can increase it's spin rate due to the disc's mass rotating around your hand pivot point in a shorter period of time. There will always be some give and take between velocity and spin rate though, and the perfect balance of the two will be different for each person.
@790dragonslayer11 ай бұрын
What are you using to measure your speed?
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 ай бұрын
I use a photogrammetry technique with a side camera, then I use the disc's diameter as a reference length and track how far it goes in x amount of frames. Using the video framerate we can calculate the projection of the disc's velocity vector onto the camera view's normal plane. It's very accurate but is time consuming and can underestimate velocity if I don't have the camera perfectly set up.

Forgot to mention, at 43:19 into the video I have an image of my photogrammetry of that 85 mph throw :)

You get amazing torque and spin. Gyro makes discs spin longer if you have the power to harness all that energy. Would be so interesting to see you test MVP. Please, please, please.
