This video was super helpful for me. A little over a year ago I had my first kid and naturally had to take a little break from playing. Since coming back my distance hasn't been there. I watched this video and Trevor talked about the slingshot. It clicked for me that I was leaving out my slingshot and my distance is coming back. Thank You so much Trev!

I've been finding my own way to the last tip. I recently started filming myself, and realized everything was coming forward too early - hips, shoulders, arm - before my brace foot was solidly down. My first correction was to leave the arm back longer, until the heel of the brace foot is down. This helped, but doesn't give the rapid coil and explosive whip that Trevor talks about. I then figured out my whole body was turning back too far and too soon, with no hip/shoulder separation. The fix I'm working on is to focus on keeping my feet perpendicular to the target line right through to the brace. This keeps my hips sideways and requires my shoulders to coil back quickly at the last second, giving the slingshot result of Trevor's final tip. This is a new development for me - I haven't filmed myself at the field yet - but feels very promising. Yesterday I threw a putter 250', which for me is a crush. (I'm 55, been playing for two years, generally drive 225-250' but working on throwing 300' more often.)

Nice stuff! I've been working on the whip. Getting my wrist into that whip motion. The baseball motions are key too. I think of pitching, and when i would throw a pitch, my power exploded as I pulled my hips and lower body down into the pitch motion. That is what is reminding me to get down to push my plant leg down and get that whip motion on the pull through and follow-through. Robbie C helped me get my head centered, and he tried to get me to bend my knees to get down. The head fix was simple. Look to the side as I go into my x step and pull through. Getting down low has slowed me down a lot, but 😂as you explain here, if i add the gradual run up into an explosion, it is starting to click. I just have to get the timing now. My net is helping practice that and showing I have the consistency to hit my target every time. Thanks again for sharing these tips! If you ever get the putt yips, check my 3 step putting tutorial to get back on track. Trade tips for tips! ...cuz we all have at least one weakness in our game. 😂 Cheers!

Figuring out your run-up space is crucial! I always prefer a longer run-up and the moment I get on a smaller tee, I feel as if my whole throw has to change. I had to spend genuinely practice in that to mentally feel comfortable and now I can throw 440-450 on a normal teepad when I used to always require 2-3 feet of extra room behind the tee

I like comparing Paul Omen to James Conrad. Similar body type but vastly different approach to the throw. The two things that helped me break 400 were reaching out from my chest and stomping my foot before I pull the disc through. The throw motion is actually starting but in my brain it’s ‘plant then throw’, that has also allowed my body to follow through properly rather than resisting its momentum.
@johnhall99003 ай бұрын
Same here. Well, similar. I don't "stomp", but getting front foot planted before starting my pull through has changed my throw for the better

Trevor, I've watched a lot of form/distance videos and you put it all together very well. I'm a RHBH 400-430 and a forehand 380-400 thrower but using really bad mechanics especially on my backhand. I don't do a run up on my backhand cuz I don't have a good sense of the timing, but I think based on your input it's an "easy" way to get more distance. Keep up your content, I dig it brotha
@Zipoqs4 ай бұрын
Sounds like you don't need to run up lol
@shaid1534 ай бұрын
@@Zipoqs honestly, there's one particular hole that's 435 and Im C1 edge short, or C1 right. It's so dependent on if I get the full flex without burning it over. I tend to throw golf lines full rip 20 feet above ground that carry the distance. When I see Trevor throw he's throwing high Annie's, I don't have that mechanic down. I just want to rip it on a rope
@prattacaster4 ай бұрын
Firstly, that is really far standstill. The best way to work towards x step is to first work on just the final step. So basically start with your feet close together then plant your right foot(RHBH) and do your throw. Once that feels solid add in the left step and so on ..
@shaid1534 ай бұрын
@@prattacaster sorry if I mislead. I am doing an x step but it's just a couple steps and slow, but I have a really tight trunk brace. I played baseball so I know how to isolate my core. My point was that I don't "run" up, I take a couple small steps

Keep your feet perpendicular to the line of travel, don't let your whole body turn backwards early. That was my issue, your mileage may vary.
@jon519014 ай бұрын
Forward momentum without a brace that keeps the weight behind the plant foot is the #1 killer of power and distance and very very few actually brace correctly. Imagine an outfielder in baseball having their weight go up onto and over their plant foot. You know the power would be reduced significantly. So, we need to learn how to brace. Here are some thoughts on how to do it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX7MZ4hvfJ2JaKMfeature=shared

I think other players trying to critique my form in league messed with me. I felt fine with my distance for a little while until people asked me why I needed to throw anhyzer to get distance why not just throw a hyzerflip? Well back then I wasn’t as knowledgeable as I am now with what will flip up and what won’t. But I think people should just mind their business when it comes to big distance shots. If it works for you it works. Not everyone has the power to flip up every disc in their bag. If that were the case you wouldn’t need 25+ discs. Especially if they all did the same thing.
