Yah, the manager is clearly delusional. The real world doesn't work the way it does inside her head. It creates an obvious disconnect between the way she thinks everything works and the way it actually works in reality.

1990's CHASE Bank. Called to HR, accused of inappropriate conversation. I asked to know what I supposedly said, "Can't tell you that to protect the accuser". When "Friday", where "Can't tell you that to protect the accuser" what time "around noon". Then my brain clicked, Seinfeld was on Thursday nights, and we always discussed it at the lunch table. That Thursday was the Menaga Twa episode. I asked if anyone else was being written up, they said no. I then mentioned that four people were having the discussion, and that I felt that HR was discriminating against me because the other three were women. I asked her to write herself up, as I was making a written sexual discrimination complaint. She was selectively punishing only me, and I was the only male. Funny how the complaint was suddenly dropped. HR is nothing but a hiring filter, and legal buffer for the company. You are an asset to be discarded when they are done with you.

A colleague of mine was once in a similar situation. Called in for inappropriate language. Can't tell you who/where/what to protect the accuser. BUT DON'T DO IT AGAIN! He said, "Don't do what again?" He left less than a month later.

@@zackwalker664 There's MORE. Ends up after my Manager promotion, they gave me 6 Secretaries to manage. My son was born and two of them overheard me on a phone call looking for a Moil. (It's a Jewish thing). One of them then asked me about the ceremony, just curious, when I saw the top of the orange mole head pop up behind the file cabinets. Two hours later I get a call from HR (guess who?) informing me that my employee was being written up for religious discrimination. 10 minutes later, after promising to be as truthful as I could, in court, they just forgot why they called.

I'm not trying to be an ass, but it's actually "Ménage à trois" not "Menaga Twa". I literally only mention it because I had to Google it to figure out what you meant, I know my own spelling and grammar are horrible, please do not let this derail the thread. I'm so sorry.

I once took a job with a consulting company because they explicitly told me their clients insisted on a 40 hour maximum per week. Imagine my great shock when roughly a year into the job, I was told they had a new client who was looking for 10 hour days, 6 days a week. I politely declined despite much arm wrestling. They laid me off 2 weeks later. They couldn't really fire me for refusing to work a 60 hour week!

Years ago I worked at a company that was creating a new series of products. Overtime was mandatory, for everyone, plus 6 hours Saturday. The expectation was the situation to last for a little over a year. After 6 or 8 months most of us were wearing thin. Jokingly someone said management was thinking of having us work 24 hours a day & if needed we could work at night too. Eventually a new generation of machines were created, which sold very well, but it damaged employee morale

In the '90s, had a conversation with a manager where he told me someone had complained about something I did. Never mind who, he wouldn't even tell me what the complaint was about. "It's just a misunderstanding, we'll take care of it." Wind forward 6 months. "Do you remember I informed you about a problem behaviour of yours, it's been 6 months and you haven't correct." I replied, "Yes, I remember, and i also remember you refusing to tell me what it was about because you'd take care of it. How am I supposed to fix a problem I'm not informed about?" The meeting ended within that same minute. I quit 2 weeks later.

That would prevent these dishonest companies from giving someone 35 hours a week and calling them part time. IDK why you guys put up with the healthcare system/insurance scam you are all living under. I was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year. I had chemotherapy, a mastectomy and radiation therapy all in a 6 month period. It was 6 months because of the curing time in between each cycle of treatment. I’m in Canada, and I think I paid for parking twice.

I read, although it has been some time, companies will loosely keep abreast where ex-employees move onto. It is a way for the company to examine their policies, practices and culture. I have also read that managers are often the reason employees move on- not their performance.

Many years ago when I was a young nuclear engineer we were getting new computers in the office and I had heard we were getting black and white screens (office computers were very new in those days). I thought this was ridiculous (as we already had colour screens) and I guess I let my fellow employees know what I thought. One day I got called in to speak to the boss, the guy whose decision it was to order black and white screens, and he said he had heard that I didn't like the idea. I think he was trying to intimidate me actually. I told him I didn't like the idea and I think colour is better, especially since I'm going to spend a large part of my day in front of the computer. He said he didn't think it matters and black and white is just fine. I asked him if he has a colour TV or a black and white TV at home, because, you know, black and white is just fine. That ended the discussion. Later, we got colour screens. I don't know if my discussion had anything to do with it, but I think I won that argument. Probably didn't help my career though...
