Now that these have a good twenty years behind them (and many have managed to stay on the road), they've gained a small but devoted following in North America. Their value sinks like a stone, but they're in a sweet spot of half or less the cost of the same year Land Cruiser. Source parts and do the repairs yourself and you can have a decent off-road vehicle for well below the price of a Toyota.

You must be one of those people who has seen one thing their entire lives and dismiss everything else. Here in Australia we run mostly Japanese 4WDs with about 30k worth of gear on them to be able to do 3000km no fuel stop trips through crocodile infested rivers, bulldust corrugations, sand, mud and rock and even snow. Guess what.... We do get stuck but being able to winch out or recover yourself means life or death. Get over yourself Nancy
@TheCls639 жыл бұрын
Exactly, why not taking a great SUV thats already all equiped and has less chance getting stuck in the mud?
@OFFICIAL_VIDEO_AWARDS9 жыл бұрын
I feel like putting a bucket over my head reading your response. Mate, a great SUV or not, they don't hover over the ground. Tyres, the type of tyre, weight, the ground conditions all come into play. The only thing a 4WD differs on not including engine power is the suspension clearance height and the wheel articulation. I have two Landcruisers, one 80 series with a 2" lift, 33" mud tyres and a bunch of other stuff like light bars, storage drawers, dual fuel tanks and a turbo diesel for touring. Just like a diesel can pretty much be submerged with a snorkel and it will run. My petrol Landcruiser is for playing about. They still get stuck. I strongly suggest you KZbin Australian 4WD Action to get a grasp of true remote 4WDing and not driving in a paddock with a car. Also a 4WD is actually a one wheel drive without diff locks. Lift one wheel on each side and no wheel will turn.
