Disco was over during the largest viewership in wrestling history. Where fans actually sat and watched. They didn’t just scroll and see highlights. “15 minutes of fame” is hilarious. The fact a guy like Disco was so over on that STACKED WCW roster, on a tv show that drew millions of people, is a heck of an accomplishment imo. Only young people or people who never actually watched WCW call Disco a “jobber”. Dude got over on a roster that included Hogan, Macho Man, Sting, Luger, Big Show, Jericho, Guerrero, Booker T, Hall, Nash, Goldberg, and so many more and in a lot of cases had the highest rated quarters of the show. Now compare that roster to AEW lol.

Disco was distinctive and had a character. Dax is an example of everything that's wrong with the modern wrestling world, just Generic Wrestling Guy. Dax is the kind of wrestler where his wrestling figure could be one of many wrestlers as there is nothing unique about him at all. With two of him you have enough figures for a federation with 30 guys in it as so many modern wrestlers are Generic Wrestling Guy as their gimmick.

As someone who always used to skip Disco Inferno when watching WCW, I still respect the guy as a worker on the road for years for WCW. I didn't enjoy the gimmick, but the guy who did the gimmick, Glen Gilberti was a good performer, he could work and it's a bit unfair to discredit any knowledge he picked up over the years just because you didn't like his gimmick or because of his win / loss record on TV.

I don't agree with Disco's politics, but I have a ton of respect for him as a performer. This guy took one of the shittiest gimmicks in the history of the business and turned it into a very successful career when wrestling was at the peak of it's popularity. I loved Disco as a kid, and I think it's awesome that he made it as far as he did with that gimmick. He committed to it and worked his ass off. No one can take that away from him. As for his views on wrestling, I agree with most of what he says. He's rarely wrong, and most of the things he says mirror what all of the other former wrestlers are saying. I don't understand why he has such a negative reputation among the modern generation.
