Edmonton is situated on the North Saskatchewan River and is the center of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, which is surrounded by Alberta's central region. No Canadian city is safe, compared by European or Asian standards, could seem safe for those living in the US, Mexico, South America, the Middle East, etc. Edmonton is definitely not the safest place in Canada.
