Just superb. Saw the trio live in Belgium recently, and I have to say that in my many years of following jazz, and having seen many of the big names, this was the best. Music, stage presence, interaction with the audience - if Miles Daves were alive today he would want to be playing with these guys!

I pulled out Sci-Fi the other day (Mr McB's album from 2000(?)). Jesus.... actually that's all I could say to myself as I listened in awe, and rewound solo after solo of his, and his fellow contributors... 'Jesus'... 'Lord have mercy'.... 'good God': This musician brings me closer to the source!! In fact, thinking about it, in this crazy-ass'd world we live in at the moment, we sometimes forget that art, and music in particular is supposed to help put us back in touch with our soul. As for this trio's performance, WOW!, you can just FEEL the love. Thank you so much for posting.

The brush solo on Hallelujah Time was SOOOOOOOOOOO CRAZZZZZYYYY!!! A lot of people don't understand how difficult it is to master brushes - to be able to maintain dynamic as well as the proper strike force and speed is something that most drummers never figure out. As a drummer myself, I give nothing but props to Jerome for that blazing solo, Keep it up guys...my favorite Trio!

2019 Can anyone suggest a JAZZ INSTRUMENTAL band (preferably a TRIO) where the bass guitar and the drums are the primary instruments and where the piano or guitar or sax or trumpet or trombone are merely part of the music? The bass and drums are transcendent instruments. Thank you. P.S. This band is life-changing.

I saw these guys live in the flagey in Brussels not long ago and what I really loved about Jerome was how he could by playing so little, so subtle, contribute so much to the sound of the band. A real talent right there! These guys are not just playing the right notes, the way they handle them with such care and ear for details is what makes it more than just music. Such an inspiration you are Christian, keep it up! :)

Jerome needs to learn that music. He gets called to play with someone like Christian McBride and he can't play the heads?
@ChristianMcBrideTV8 жыл бұрын
+7swingspanlang7dabipbop7 This was Jerome's VERY first gig with my trio. He did a great job for someone who had very little rehearsal. I'm not interested in someone who can play "perfectly", I'm interested in the FEEL. Any idiot can learn the heads. I'm interested in the intangibles. He has that. I love his attitude and his drive. You remember that next time you judge another musician.
@7swingspanlang7dabipbop798 жыл бұрын
+ChristianMcBrideTV I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. He's a wonderful musician, educator and human being. If Christian McBride sees something in a musician and invites them to play, that speaks in itself of that person's abilities/talent (not that you or Jerome need validation from a nobody like me). As a big fan and student of your music, I am very sorry, and thank you for the lesson here. I won't be posting negative feedback anymore, and sincere apologies to Mr. Jennings.

Christian, you're such a great pleasure to listen to. I first encountered you on dates with Benny Green (who went to my high school and whom I used to see at the original Yoshi's in Oakland). I've since seen you perform with Inside Straight. But I truly love this trio -- everyone fits together so effortlessly! My hat's off to all three of you.
