I was fortunate enough to join Scouts in 2009, so my very first summer camp in 2010 I got to earn the Tracking Merit Badge. I also earned Tenderfoot and Second Class in that year and got the special rank badges for those two ranks. It was a very special time to be in scouting.

If there was ever a time for carpentry merit badge it’s now

I believe that the requirements for Carpentry have moved over to the Woodwork Merit Badge which is current. Most of the requirements have moved into other related merit badges from the vintage merit badges. YIS⚜

Awesome video! This took me back as I was in cubscouts at the time, I had to go back and dig out my uniform, hoping that I indeed had a centennial patch (our pack would use older ones if they had them). Sure enough, cenntennial wolf patch! The arrow of light would have been neat as you could have worn that patch as a registered boy scout under your left pocket, as well as a pip on the leader knot for arrow of light. For me, scouting started in 2008/9 and scouting really made me who I am. Although I did not join on the cenntennial, the centennial patch for my symbolizes my early comittment to scouting. However, I never actually wore the ring on my uniform. I am unsure as to why, perhaps my parents never thought of it at the time. I suppose I could go back now and wear it on my uniform. The young scouts joining out troop are younger than my entire time in scouting! It would offer as a unique conversation piece perhaps. As always Stan, thank you for your videos! YiS, Jesse ⚜

Can you do some type of video on the religious award, or square knots in general?
@ScouterStan Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the suggestion. We have scheduled a video coming up mid-season on the Religious Emblems Coordinator position. It would be difficult to do specific religious emblems as the requirements vary so much between each faith. There is a video about Square Knots on the Uniform: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYDRYaiYe990gLs Hopefully these videos will help answer your inquiry. YIS⚜

The centennial ring. I think just about everybody wears that regardless if they were in scouting at that time

Hey Stan, I was wondering if you could make a video on ILST and specifically hosting it. I am a new SPL and our troop has never done it before and I was seeing if you could make a video on ILST, what it is, and how to host it.

I did a video on ILST back in late September 2020. Introduction To Leadership Skill For Troops kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWeUn6esqLR8b6c. Take a look at the old video and let me know if you would like me to cover something related. Thank you so much for the suggestion. YIS⚜

Can scouts use older merit badge designs on current uniforms like 70's Journalism that has the typewriter key? It looks like the modern border and even came in plastic back variety.
@ScouterStan Жыл бұрын
Normally merit badges and rank patches that are from the past are collectible and not used on current-day uniforms. There are historic exceptions to this rule. If you are putting together a uniform from the 70s you would need to use only the old patches/badges from that time. When you are putting together a historic uniform you must specify the time period. You can use patches before that date but, are not permitted to use any patches after that time. I hope this answers your question. YIS⚜

Hello Stan, I was a scout who was lucky enough to of had the opportunity to earn the signaling merit badge during the centennial year, yet my signaling merit badge has the normal green border. Was there a period of production, that you may remember, where the green border was used instead? Was I simply unlucky?
@ScouterStan Жыл бұрын
No, quite the opposite. The signaling merit badge was reinstated for the 2010 celebration. The reinstated reproduction merit badges were made with a gold border. The vintage merit badges have a green border and are considered quite rare. Somehow you won the merit badge lottery and got a truly special vintage merit badge. Congratulations. YIS⚜
