Saul and your photographer, atypical, many people don't understand these photos. Many people say that it's not photos, it's more paintings because his creations look a lot like paintings. To tell the truth it’s art, he did something unique, he is inimitable, he is a great master of photography, very good video

Great overview. Thank you. And ff that's not Cate Blanchett's doppelgänger at 16:27, then it's proof positive the influence that Mr. Leiter's work had on the cinematography of "Carol" (2015).

What a good YT video. Beyond good. I met Saul Leiter at the Strand bookstore while taking a street photography class. I was on the second floor and sitting on a bench. This older man sits down on the bench and asked me if I’m going to buy his book? Which book? He pointed the book out to me and I looked at it. I really liked it. Soul and I talked for about two hours and then I bought the book. After this encounter I’ve been a big fan. I had been in the black and white Street photography camp Until I met Saul. I now shoot a lot of color street images. I am now shooting with slower shutter speed and intentional camera movement to help create impressionistic images. There are so many images on your video I have never seen. Thank you for sharing some of his fashion images. Interesting to see what he did with those constraints. I know Saul did a number of nude painted and photography images. I’d like to have seen more of his none nude painted images. All I can say about this video is WOW! Will rewatch it following this message. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Great video! So informative and insightful while giving proper space for his work to speak for itself. One issue, though: Near the beginning of the "Colour" chapter, there is one photograph of a woman looking out the window of a yellow taxi. That photo is actually a still of Cate Blanchett in Todd Haynes' 2015 film "Carol". The film, which is a brilliant, moving work and highly recommended, is gorgeously filmed. Director Todd Haynes and cinematographer Ed Lachman used Lester's photography as an inspiration for the look of the film. So while very influenced by Lester's work, that still of Cate Blanchett is not one of his photographs.

Your engagement means a lot to me, and I'm always happy to connect with awesome subscribers like you. Also, thank you for the correction about the photo of Cate Blanchett. You're absolutely right, it's not from Saul Leiter, but rather Edward Lachman, the cinematographer, who drew inspiration from Leiter's style. The photo indeed belongs to a frame from the movie "Carol." Your keen eye and knowledge are much appreciated, and it's great to have subscribers like you who contribute to the discussions and help make the content even better! Personaly, seeing his output now and forgetting the controversy over colour or not … This guy was an impressionist artist who used a camera rather than a brush Everyone now wants to say “street photography” but I’m pretty certain he just took a picture of what he saw … never mind the classification We are lucky he did

Saul Leiter's work is simply magnificent. It has a kind of magic that speaks to me like no-one else's color photography does. Great video and great content, just one remark: the photo at 16:27 isn't one of his images, that's a screen cap of Cate Blanchett from the movie Carol.
