Blows my mind how page builders are just now coming round to the idea of classes as being a great idea for globally styling a website... 😂 Great to see this in GenerateBlocks. Nice work mate!

I think the issue isn’t whether global classes are a good idea, that’s a given. iI’s more a question of how to build a good UI & UX within Wordpress. Trying to integrate global classes into a moving target like Gutenberg, or WordPress generally can’t be easy. This (GenerateBlocks Alpha) looks to be a really good solution.

As much as this is rather nice to have, it still feels like we're reinventing CSS with extra steps. As a dev, it's crazy to me the extent people are willing to go to make websites without actually learning to make websites. I like what GeneratePress is trying to do, but ultimately it's a bandaid on top of a bigger problem in the wordpress ecosystem, namely trying to have a system that contents both no-coders and developpers.

For the editor parameters, can variables be used instead of static values? Like in Bricks?

Is it correct that you offer a detailed tutorial-series on the new version GB Pro 1.7?

Not yet, no. I’d recommend doing a search for The Admin Bar on KZbin and my friend Kyle has released several on the new feature set. 👍

Nice. And I presume core framework and ACSS will work on that as well.
@WPTuts9 ай бұрын
I beleive ACSS has partial integration with GB/GP, but not sure about CF. I'll wait for the final release and see how things go with CF.
@david.robertson.photography9 ай бұрын
Certainly makes GB more appealing for FSE builds. Have you tried using Core Framework with this version Paul? I'm an AutomaticCSS user with Bricks and although it should work in Gutenberg I have never found it particularly convenient to use in practise
@WPTuts9 ай бұрын
I haven't, no. But, I have read on the FB group about users using CF with GenerateBlocks/Press. How well integrated it is, I honestly don't know. I'll revisit things once this comes out of alpha and is released and see how they work together.

Hi paul, which one would you recommend - kadence blocks or generate blocks
@WPTuts9 ай бұрын
Less recommend, but for me, I use GeneratePress & GenerateBlocks on a lot of projects and love them. Kadence blocks is great, but I feel that GB strips things to their basics and gives you a palette to work from, whereas KB has done all that work for you, but you have to like what they've done. Does that make sense?

I'm really curious about something since I've been running a site with GenerateBlocks Pro for years. I have nearly everything in the design controlled by Global Styles, with those styles being reflected in Local Patterns. I can already make site-wide styling and layout changes within seconds. I'm very unclear how this class-based workflow adds any value to such a setup. Can you clarify?
@James_m79 ай бұрын
So Bricks can do all this but that is have similar way of doing the Global Styles like this GenerateBlocks you just demostrated?
@WPTuts9 ай бұрын
Yes, Bricks has a solid set of Global Class tools but a similar toolset will be included in GB soon.
@James_m79 ай бұрын
I'm confused, is GB an addon to the GP theme? And is GP also a builder like Bricks? thx@@WPTuts
@WPTuts9 ай бұрын
@@James_m7 GB is a block based set of tools that work with GP but also with any WP theme.
@James_m79 ай бұрын
TY! So it will also work within Bricks? Would you recommend using them together?@@WPTuts

Click in an inner block and the outer blocks will appear in the document overview! Not perfect I know, but it becomes a habit! (and in Preferences >> General make sure 'Always open List View' is turned on!) (noticed the inconsistency - in one place it is called Document Overview and in another List View :( )

So I installed the Greenshift plugin, and customised one of the premade 'layouts' of Greenshift, and presto, the contact us page is a great pop. And yes, I also have the paid version of GP too.
