Great video! Went on a 3 day couple weeks ago. My son got a180 lb BFT and 2 smaller models. On our hundred pound night jig rigs we used 100 feet of mono tied to braid with 200 lb. bite leader. I noticed several anglers tying short bite leader direct to braid. My son got cut off twice by braid rubbing on his mono top-shot. What do you think?
@ahmadghanem24145 ай бұрын
I rig mine the same way you did. I had not had an issue yet , hopefully, never
@fishsandiego90434 ай бұрын
Braid straight to your swivel with a short bite leader works well but there is no stretch so you feel everything with no shock absorption. Having 100’ of mono may be a good idea in rough weather because the mono will stretch during a big roll from swell but like you mentioned if another anglers braid rubs on your mono it may cut you off. Also personally i try to have as few connections as possible in my line
@dojo12494 ай бұрын
Won't have that problem on the northeast head boats. Mono topshot must be 100 yards then to braid at the crews discretion only. Crews here don't like to harm the braid does to hands, gear and mono line

where do you buy the tungsten lures?
@FishTheLegend4 ай бұрын
Local tackle shops are trying to keep them in supply, but they are selling out quickly. I'd call ahead & ask. Otherwise ebay is where a lot of deckhands & captains are buying them right now.

Please explain how these tungsten jigs can be through wire? Tungsten melts at 6,000 degrees and steel melts at 2,500.

@@FishTheLegendis that an issue with tungsten’s brittleness?
@FishTheLegend4 ай бұрын
@@cameronpeterson896 not in our experience, so far anyway! This metal is quite strong, and extremely small compared to longer jigs. If you are concerned, you can always “through wire” it yourself by having your line tied from your leader to attach to the assist hook itself, that way in case the jig does fall off, you still have a complete system.

Tungsten……1.7x the weight and price compared to lead. I hate losing a 1/4 oz tungsten bullet weight. Just got a 500g bft. I think I need another 300g and some tungsten lures.

Usually I agree, but Eddie bombs and tungsten jigs have been a game changer for bluefin. You need to get deep with strong current while they’re keyed in on small baits. Legit game changer in my opinion
