Im not a beginner and the one of things im really good at is drawing faces (in my style) but I found that they often looked very flat and I could not add as much variety to the facial structure as I wanted. But after this I found that my character didn’t look super flat and I could actually give them depth to their face! I shaded cheeks and voila, their face looked lively and 3D, so THANK YOU!! I’m going to be practicing this method much more from here on out so I can apply it and eventually it’ll blend into my usual sketching process!!

I used to do portraits with grids, then freehand, and then recently i tried using loomis and it makes sketching a lot easier. This video motivates me to continue using the method and also continue making portraits as i did feel hopeless after my last commission. (The face was a bit off since it's supposed to be so small like finger-sized head in an A3 vellum)😔

Very nice. I wish I had learned this years ago. I'm beginning to be able to draw portraits without this method but may use it from now on (I'm doing some drawing today). It's a beautiful picture, though a shame you didn't get the woman's 'cupid's bow' on her upper lip: one of the most attractive aspects of a face. In fact, I find getting a person's mouth right is one of the most difficult parts of drawing a face. I'm not sure you've got it here.

Nice One "Doctor Loomis" is a fictional character. He is a psychiatrist who takes care of Michael Myers after he kills most of his family. He was played by Donald Pleasence in the original "Halloween" movie in 1978 by John Carpenter and he was later played in the 2007 remake "Halloween" by actor Malcolm Mc Dowell (known for a Clockwork Orange 1972 a movie by Stanley Kubrick about sex and ultra violence) Peace Next

Don’t start with it. Do yourself the favor. It’s support wheels that encourages bad drawing habits. Just look at people. Really look at them. Most people never do that that’s why they suck at drawing faces.
