Thank you so much for posting this! Had exactly the same problem on Skoda Karoq 2018 and autoservice guys (which I like and trust) offered full replacement with whichever struts I buy. The cheapest ones I found are about 250 EUR a piece. Original ones are 500-600+. For those who want to fix/replace a strut on Karoq, it's a bit more tricky as the inside plastic cover cannot be taken right away. You have to remove rear-bottom and side black plastic panels in the trunk first (also unscrew the horizontal bar from the side if you are replacing the strut on the driver's side). After that, upper plastic panel that covers the wires comes off rather easily. And probably you don't need to take if of entirely. Anyway, worth the money in any case.

Thanks to this vid I saved myself about €500! I had the exact same broken brown with a slice in the blue. Took me about 30mins to fix and tailgate is back working as it should.

Thank you so much. I had some broken wires on both sides. With the help of this video I removed them both and soldered the wires back together. Now everything's working again! This saved me about 900 - 1000 euros.

Thanx! Exakt same kable boken. 1hr repair. Tip is to atach a guidestring to harness before you pull it out. Really easy to get it back.

Thank you! I had same issue and kept thinking I'm in for a costly work, but I fixed it in 45 minutes.

Thanks for the vid 👌 One of the wires was cut and had to solder it back together 🤓

Same problem on my Mk2 L and K Superb. Thanks! Word of caution: soldered joints in areas of flexure are inherently stiff and hence can induce further breakage of conductors at the ends of the jointed section. Care is required and, preferably, excess wire should be introduced to bring the joint outside the area of flexure.

This seems to be a constant feature / complaint with the VW tailgates. The looks of thios cables as soon as you opened them seemed a bit all marked / damanged at the same position. Do you think it's a faliure of the design rather wear and tear?

Same issue here. Soldering the thin cables which were broken and almost broken fixed the issue. For the moment.

I think I have a similar issue with my 2018 Karoq - the boot is just beeping and not closing. Bought it from a Skoda dealership only a few months ago, so hopefully their warranty will cover it... such an annoying problem!

Same issue as my Superb. Did you find out what the problem was?

@@Strikeminator Skoda dealership replaced a motor in the boot. Luckily it was still under warranty.

My Octavia has the exact same issue. As it’s under warranty I’m gonna get them to investigate it and fix 😔

How's she goin'? Nice fix again Igor. Kind of confusing trying to determine motor 1 and motor 2 but the broken wire sure helped find it. Thanks for sharing and take care!!

I have this exact same problem on my mk3 superb estate. My only problem is I can't get the trim panel off but you skipped over that so I assume it's easy. I pulled really hard and nothing budged and I don't want to break the plastic. I'd be grateful if someone could share how to do it.

I'm just about to try the same on my SEAT Ateca 2019 that failed a few months after the warranty expired. Seems dodgy. Not to mention the issues appeared after it went in for a servcie and totally failed whn it took it back for the to have a look at. They have now said I need to pay them £600+ to have i replaced or sign up to a £36 per month service package. Hopefully it's just the one or two wires. Lets see.!

These electric struts are hella teaseous. Advice: NEVER close the tailgate with much force. gentle force if it doesn't close, ore you'll burn the motors. Testing the motors can be done with a 9v battery, on the thickest cables in the middle of the connector
