My wife & I just watched this video. Born & bred in central Alabama I’m 51 & she’s 52. I told her i couldn’t imagine doing all these things for the 1st time at your ages. We grew up doing it all. It’s refreshing to see someone experience our lifestyle for the 1st time & enjoy it so much, laugh so hard & make great friends. People talk crap about us down here but if you’re in need we’ll do our best to help. Hungry? We’ll feed you. Need a place to stay? We’ll house you. Even protect you if need be. As a lady born and raised in East Texas, the idea of a grown man shooting a handgun for the first time and being startled by the kickback is just hilarious! I was shooting a modified Israeli AK when I was 12! I got to meet a whole pack of Aussies and Kiwis a few years ago and had a great time talking with them about all the things Texas and Australia have in common. Very nice people, and for the most part I think Aussies and Texans are siblings in spirit. I think southerners especially get a little giddy at the prospect of showing people things about our culture. We had an exchange student from Indonesia that ended up at my rural high school and everyone went out of their way to show him everything we could! It's fun to share culture with others, especially the things that have become mundane or commonplace because for someone even the concept of it could be brand new!

The culture doesn't call anyone anything... You have to hear or read something that a person or business or agency states. It sounds like you have heard some people talk about some other people in an effort to stereotype. I haven't heard any of these lies about the South, and I'm in the culture we live in too, so it's more a matter of what you let into your eyes and ears. The more I turn off the TV and the phone and talk to real people in real life, the less I think that all of society is saying one thing or another. No group is a monolith. There are hate-filled extremists in the South, and also everywhere else. There are also humble people waiting to be hospitable to you all around. Ain't nothing scary going on in this video to this Yankee! I was shooting high power rifle when I was 9, in 1980. I have actually bought cars based on my rifle cases fitting in the trunk or not. I'm not banging up the American black walnut on the stocks, and I like old hotrods and vintage sports cars too much to buy a truck. I wish I lived closer to the rifle range though, houses are too damned close together to shoot in the backyard around here. Only thing up here that scares me in MA is the liberals like Maura Healey being re-elected or Liz Warren opening her mouth or more alcohol being added to the gas, it's bad for my '66 Corvette! But that old Chevy is very practical: it's a coupe so all my rifles and pistols would fit in it at the same time. I;ll be building a roller cam engine for it soon. You’ve definitely gotta come down here!! Eat some good southern cooking, meet some of the locals and get in good with them.. I promise you will end up having the same experience. You’ll want to stick to the smaller cities, towns, rural areas. The big city folks can be typical big city folk. Not always.. but you can tell there’s a difference. There are different sections to Bama btw. We have the mountiany side, the beachy side, the lakes, and the flat farmlands. Just so you know, it’s hot AF down here. Sure.. summer can be fun if you find yourself closer to some water. But if you don’t want to feel like you’re in a sauna the minute you walk outside, spring, fall, and winter can be bearable. Key word “can”. Those months are also the most unstable for us. That’s a whole other story though. It’s just something to think about. If you come, just stay away from the larger cities, they are no different than any other major city. Find a small town, preferably near a river and you'll get all the country you can handle. Hunting, fishing, mud slinging, drinking, and eating. Oh and if grandma cooks, eat it, even if you already ate.

Ppl always make fun of country folks. But go study and see if a city person vs a country person will help you in the side of the road. I’m in NC and the amount of help and love we’re getting from this hurricane is unmatched.

I grew up in rural Alabama and have lived in major cities for almost a decade now. The southern politeness and hospitality never leaves you. I’m now in Miami where a vast majority of people can be rude, but I still try to maintain that welcoming and personable presence.

I'm in Africa, Kenya. Can you imagine a dollar here can buy my mom something to eat for at least two days. see, I come from a humble background, we used to live in a single room but I tried and moved out when I saw my beard popping. I've been supporting her but I recently got fired because of being late (my house to work is far, it's the closest and cheapest place I could find and I walk daily, that's 8km). Mom can't work because of old age so I have to take care of her. I wish I could get a job with you. Doing anything. I know how to edit videos and audios and a bit of music production. i know how to paint too. just anything for a dollar. I wish I was you

Being from the south myself, I feel the fisherman's pain. We are all about hospitality and we don't get a lot of people coming down to ask us to show them what we do. So, when we do get an opportunity to host people like you... we want to either meet or beat your expectations. If we don't, we will beat ourselves up over it. Definitely go back if you get the opportunity. I promise you that he has already come up with a plan to make sure he gets some catfish on the next trip. Definitely get with him beforehand, though. The time of year might be crucial to maximize your catching opportunity.

I’m near Buffalo, know as The City of Good Neighbors. Your fiancée must be from the wrong part of town! Most people around here are friendly and not so different than Southern Folk, especially outside of the big cities up north. Most of New York State (and a short drive from Buffalo) is very rural. I think these have been the most welcoming people in any of your videos. The Amish people were nice, but it took a long time to find someone willing to take you in. Here it seems like it was effortless as everyone was so welcoming. Also, buddy being so clearly distraught that he couldn't find you guys a catfish shows just how much he cared about showing his way of life and sharing with you. Awesome video.

5:19 Whole interaction tickled me pink😂😂 That man is truely Southern by the grace of God💯 I’m born and raised Texan moved to North Carolina for family, and that man embodies the word Southern. “I can be” when asked if he’s free tomorrow was awesome, and then to offer you a place to crash without even knowing you🫡 I know a few fellas like that would give you the shirt off their back just for making em laugh hard enough. Great video boys
