↠ A BIT ABOUT US
We're Chesca and Ben, and with our two pups River & Scout (🐶 🐶 ) we live and travel full-time in our self converted sprinter van, Sophia. We spent the past 2 years road tripping as much of Europe as we could, from the wild coasts of Portugal to the Syrian border in Turkey, tackling lockdowns and a van re-build along the way. But now, we're feeling like a new challenge. In the summer of 2022, we'll be shipping our van from the UK to Canada, on a mission to drive her all the way to Argentina!

Watching this video made me nostalgic. I grew up in El Valle de Guadalupe and moved to the USA pursuing the “American dream”. All the while the real dream, was in my very own hometown……I hope to return one day soon and never leave again. ❤

I was born there but raised in the US, have family there, and have always gone at least 4 times a year. It's changed so much, but I love that there is work for the people and that it's developing. I just hope it doesn't get "overdeveloped." ❤ 🇲🇽

@MexicanHinduWifey I know, I get excited when people know where Guadalupe is, let alone are from there. However, I don't know who that this but my Grandfather had a store for years on the main road and later I'm the new part of town across the street from the school & park near the new cemetery. It was called Abarotes Solis. My grandfather was Jose Solis...😉

Thank youuu Jenny ❤️ Honestly food is one of the most direct ways to literally experience a culture. You aren’t looking at some architecture or learning the history of something. It’s tangible and real and also delicious 🤤 And the people are always the best part of any place we visit. Like that time we went to Nuremberg 🫶 xx

I'm traveling around Arizona. I parked up at an old high school friends place for a few days. We went to this really neat place near Lauglin, Nv. called Grapevine Canyon where it is just loaded with all these petroglyphs. I won't be out on this trip too long as I have to get back and do some paperwork appt.'s. but I am just so enjoying being back out a bit. Hope you get Sophia all fixed up for her next big leg of the journey. Cheers to new adventures.

Epicurean! Love that! The wineries were around $35 for the tasting but that was including the cheeseboard. You could just go and have a glass of wine without the tasting. Hey Guys.. I can’t believe it’s been a week already, the time flies! Anyway, hope you’re all well. The scenery there is amazing, but wine 🍷 is not my cup of tea. River crossings worry me, good choice to walk and check first. I pretend I’m civilised every day but really just want to watch KZbin 😂😂. “Bit of a corker” 😂😂. Wow that wine was explosive out of the bottle 👌. I’m with Ben, wine is lost on me too! 😂😂”Pisshead” had me lol.. the restaurant looks great! River is so nice, look at her face.. 😍. I love trying new foods and maybe may some food classes one day. I tried making pasta on my own once, I felt cannelloni 😂😂😂👍.. what a great man. Living your best lives, I absolutely adore it! I’m a foodie and I’m always eating so me too would have to be rolled across the border. Never had a margarita to be honest. But the buildings are great to look at. Anyway, have a good week ahead. Bye guys!

Part 2 😁 Great Roman joke Ben 👏 👍 You pair should know by now, all the best places are down the longest rough track. Bit like the beach. Did not know about there wines. Oh dear wine jokes 🙄 🤣 I'd be definitely stocking up with olive oil and wonderful salt, looked so good. I'm never buying shop salt again cuz it's full of plastic. Right I'm off to find some fine flour and egg 😋 Keep Loving the Adventure Both. Love and Hugs ❤

And make sure to use an old wine bottle as a rolling pin! 😛 So glad you enjoyed this one, and you're right about the rough roads! Although these Mexican ones are going to do some damage to poor Sophia if we're not careful! Totally agree on the shop salt, over processed and full of sh*t. Hope you're doing well, sending love and hugs from all of us xx 💕

Love seeing the foods in these places, street food always seems to outshine restaurants 😍 Sad the Mexican Baja journey is over so quick, didn't you wish to travel south a bit more across the Americas, or is it a visa thing? I don't think I could travel the US, watching travellers it always appears to be more about miles and miles of driving.
@OverlandingSophia
@OverlandingSophia Жыл бұрын
Yes!! Street food is always the best 🤤 Oh wow, okay. So this is our big trip (we did discuss this a few videos back but you might have missed it). We're doing the Pan American Highway this year, so we'll be driving up to Alaska to pick it up in Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean. Then we'll be heading back down the Pacific Coast Highway and then all the way through Mexico, Latin America and into South America, finishing in Ushuaia, Argentina. When we shipped the van to Canada in August, we didn't have enough time to reach Alaska due to weather windows. So we drove through the southern States and spent the winter in Baja, ready to start to the trip to the Pan American in Spring. You're right about the driving though. The USA is HUGE and the distances are massive, so you do have to drive a lot if you want to see a lot. But hopefully you'll enjoy following our trip north as we aren't just going to be driving in each video but exploring awesome places as we head north. We're really excited about this part of the trip, feels like our big adventure is finally happening! 🧡 🗺️

Enjoyed your travels in Baja -- a part of Mexico which is not often highlighted. Watch out for the snow in California --wow, what a sight to see that much snow there -- even here in Canada we don't get that much all at once! Our family is planning a road trip this summer in the Yukon -- heading up the Dempster Highway to Inuvik and then the Arctic Ocean. This is considered one of the most spectacular road trips in Canada. Lots of wildlife to be seen but make sure you prepare for it.
