Oh, I'm so glad you got to see wild horses. I was wondering if you'd gotten to see any on your way while you were still in the US. We have them in California and Nevada and sometimes a whole huge herd will run alongside (or cross in front of) your vehicle while traveling. They're amazing to see. And, "Little wins make one big win for the day", I love that.

Hi Chesca and Ben. Of course I've loved the glimpse of Mexico where I have never been. I'm with Ben, hot and spicy is not for me! They were correct, you only need TIP if you cross to mainland but I think you said you can also get it in the port, I assume you meant La Paz, that is incorrect, next time you enter Mexico after you go to Alaska make sure you get the TIP at the border otherwise you will have to drive back to the border. BTW, I did the trip to Ushuaia in 2018 by motorcycle and it was amazing. I'm enjoying your trip and can't wait for you to go to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska which I also did on my motorcycle 🏍️
@OverlandingSophia2 жыл бұрын
Yes we've since heard this too! When we come back to Mexico we'll be crossing via mainland (I think) so we won't be going down to La Paz anyway. Think the trip will really feel like it's starting when we head to Alaska, which will probably bring back more than a few memories for you! What would you say were the top 3 highlights from your trip?
@Georgesadventure2 жыл бұрын
@@OverlandingSophia definitely the Dalton and the desolation of those last 400 miles before you reach Prudhoe Bay. Make sure you stop in Valdez and 100 percent go visit Homer, scenery is amazing. Also go across the Denali highway (not a highway BTW) it has stunning scenery

Hello gorgeous scenery, looks amazing, I am so confused now, why are you going back up states to Alaska? and then to south america? isnt it easier to keep going down through mexico? i know i missed something important here? sorry?
@OverlandingSophia2 жыл бұрын
Hello! We did explain at the beginning of the trip but it was a while ago! We'll explain again properly in the next video too as it's probably confusing for anyone who doesn't know! We want to do the full Pan American highway, which officially begins in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. We began this trip quite late and didn't arrive in Canada until August, which was too late to reach Alaska with the weather windows. So rather than wait in the UK until the spring, we decided to do the southern USA and Baja for the winter. If we continued down to South America now we'll only have completed half of the Pan American. So this spring, we'll drive up to Alaska, and by the end of the summer we'll be heading back into mainland Mexico and continuing south indefinitely. Hope that makes more sense now 🤗 💕

Hey I almost forgot to ask .What happened to Tinker Bell your drone? Tell me you didn't crash her. Cheers. Dean
@OverlandingSophia2 жыл бұрын
She’s alive and well but in the US I couldn’t fly the drone and then post it on YT as it’s classed as commercial and I need a license! Hoping to get it when we go back in the spring. But I’ll be flying her here, if we can remember where the batteries are 😂

Sorry to see you are skipping Vancouver B.C. the Pacific coast is the crown jewel of North America from San Francisco to Vancouver the I-5 /BC99 route is by far the better choice than the desolate I-15 route which is nothing more than a glorified truck route a.k.a. the canamex truckway , you may want to re think that portion of the trip as the travel times are similar
@OverlandingSophia2 жыл бұрын
Don’t worry, that red line was just a directional line showing our general route, absolutely not the actual route we’re taking. There’s no way we’re missing Vancouver. Our rough plan is to go up through Arizona and Utah and then back down the PCH - so we spend spring in the desert and summer on the coast.

I used to cross the border into Mexico regularly until northern Mexico became too dangerous about 5 years ago. I was NEVER stopped by Mexican officials. I just drove right in.

Mexico is easy. Have you made plans to deal with Costa Rica’s right hand drive ban? El Salvador you can drive around but Costa Rica is coast to coast!
@OverlandingSophia2 жыл бұрын
Yes! We can't do CR or Nicaragua because of the RHD, so we plan to do a loop of Guatemala and Belize, and then ship from Veracruz in Mexico to Cartegena 👍

You wont get TIP at Le Paz - I've watched far too many pan american you tube stories - you would need to drive back up. Loving the adventures :)

Since filming that we've heard this too! When we come back into Mexico we'll be arriving through the mainland so should be able to get one there 🤞

What paperwork was required for crossing your pet into Mexico?
@OverlandingSophia2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely nothing! We had all their vaccination records and blood tests but there was no need for a health certificate or anything like that. They didn’t check a thing, which is what we’ve found with all land borders 🤷♀️

You may find a lot of "that isn't the right paperwork" you must fill in this which only takes a few minutes to do and oh, yes, thankyou for the $60 which goes directly into my pocket. Welcome to Mexico!
@OverlandingSophia2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree that this kind of thing is rife! But to give credit where it’s due, we didn’t pay the immigration guy directly. We had to go to another official office which is actually part of the bank and pay by card there. We got official receipts so in this case it was legit, we didn’t pay cash to the officer. But no doubt it happens.
