The primer peeled up because it was still in its "gassing" state. the primer simply isnt cured enough. also, Primer over clean gel coat is asking for trouble.

Dev primer is destined to be sanded so it doesn't matter too much outside or not! Paint on the other hand much more delicate and expensive!Also, different backplates on da or polisher will give different sanding abilities! Softer backplates can adjust easily to curves but you need more time that's why you see pros sanding with the edge which is not the way to sand but anyway!

Try spraying the body panel with water before applying the wrap. It might give you just enough movement to ease it into place, then squeeze it out. It will eventually evaporate leaving the wrap in place.

I learned the hard way, I just bought an evo x with a wrapped hood, roof and trunk lid and when I peeled the wrap off I noticed everything had been sanded all the way down to the aluminum

hey man I'm a signwritter by trade ( deal with vinyl for a living ) you'll most probably have to either clear or paint over the filler as filler is a very weak stick. kind of just crusts off. Don't know the fancy way of exactly what the difference is but all i know is that you'll only have 1 go at laying the vinyl before the primer peals up. As you were saying its very tacky so would be a challenge. if you don't want to paint it try laying it down as you app it on. so then you don't need to keep pealing it up. or wet apply it with a very small amount of soap in a spray bottle use a not ascetic soap or else you will run into problems with the adhesive . anyways goodluck with it all loving the videos!

Tech wrap has a heat activated adhesive, try to use as little heat as possible when you are applying the wrap. Can be a little tricky but should yeild a little better results.

Get yourself an infra red lamp for curing primer ..clear etc. Minimum prep scratch for primer is p180g on da sander .

I’ve used Teckwrap plenty of times. I just did a car and had to do body work. Sprayed rustoleum filler primer out of a rattle can over and it wrapped just fine.

Had the same problem when I wrapped over primer on my AMG. (Also used Teckwrap) Ended up just aerosol spraying the part with a gloss black and it fixed the problem.

i recommend to bolt down the panel or wrap the pannel on a table or something, and use less heat when you glass the panel, always glass the pannel and then heat and squeegie the wrap to remove the air. and obviously let the primer cure all the way.

try no peeling off all of the backerr for the wrap at once. Peel off a corner section and lay down that portion of the wrap and then peel back some more and smooth down the wrap.

Just primer might be different but from a professional wrapper, with a full paint job, you need to wait at least a month sometimes longer depending on paint and clear used before you can wrap it

I tried to wrap my roof after a few months of letting it cure. It still peeled off with the avery vinyl I used. Probably just my crappy reclear after fixing a lot of peeling clear coat before I just decided to wrap it. Hopefully you can get it figured out. And I hope bobby is feeling better.

!!!Besides everyone telling you to paint the car .. its ur car bro do what you want. Lots of ppl wrap over primer. But yes it's not cured long enough but also with that primer no matter what the wrap is most likely guna lift it. Just keep that in mind. Good luck keep it up.!!!

I think it's because your primer didn't have enough time to cure and maybe you sanded to a too high grit before priming and it didn't give it enough bite. ( think you did 320 ) Great perseverance :)

If you used finer than 600 grit sandpaper for your prep in the panel for the primer, than your primer might not have enough to bite into.

Maybe try wrapping those pieces off of the car, heat the vinyl and the stretch onto the pieces. You should have less air bubbles if you do it that way too

I wrapped a whole car in primer and truth is, u wanna generally wait bout 3-4 days. Leave the panels out in the sun to bake, but even, if you pull the wrap back off while it was already heated and set, it might still come off with some primer.

Just put one coat of clear over all the pieces that need to be wrapped and that will solve the issue and it will help the fiberglass in the long run with moisture

The cutout shape on the front bumper extensions aren't quite the same shape....the driver side piece is curved in the corner that touches the body line and the passenger one is a sharp corner....not being mean just wanted to throw that out there in case you didn't notice

you aren’t supposed to wrap over primer period. if you wanted you could go and buy a cheap can of black spray paint and spray over the primer and then wrap over that. i’ve done that before and it’s stayed. or sealer will work too, whichever one is cheaper for you

Wraps are cool but will never be as clean as a paint job. If you do decide to paint it, white is an easy colour to spray and hides imperfections easily, a full white out sti would look pretty mean.
