Me too! It makes me curious when was the last time it was actually used. I was able to check out what was higher on the hill as well. (But I used a car to do it) I look forward to sharing it soon.

Ciao Dave! I haven’t commented in a long while ( I usually don’t feel the need ) but today I watched and read a comment on your other vídeo about Arpino and was sad to see a somewhat aggressive perspective, so I wanted to say “hi”, thanks for the nice vídeo, I loved the church in the hill. Let’s all stay in the light.
@DauvO3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your message. Nice to hear from you. Can I ask when you mention being aggressive, did you mean my response? Thanks for clarifying. It's nice to have a reminder to stay positive
@back2seattle3 жыл бұрын
No not from you. It is one that starts questioning your “character “...anyway, I don’t want to repeat the negative, I wanted to help you shine your light. I’m not sure what the person was feeling when they wrote also, who knows but I’ll be sending them some good vibes too because sometimes people that are hurting shows aggressiveness🤷🏼♀️ Love to all

Thank you for sharing your exploration of Arpino. As an Italian, when I see monuments, churches, castles, abandoned villas I get angry. We have a gigantic historical heritage, but our administrators do not know how to enhance and manage it. Sin!
@DauvO8 ай бұрын
I understand. I approach it as the Abandoned places seem more mysterious. Of course i wish it hadn't reached that point, but i appreciate more the properties that have survived more because of it. Wish we could restore them all

Arpino dates back to the 3rd century BC it was a town of the Volsci and Samnites. Famous Roman sons of Arpino. The Roman general Gaius Marius, Marcus Vipsanio Agrippa, Marcus Tullius Cicero. The town was conquered by the Romans in 305 B.C it stands at 1,476ft above sea level. Just a snippet of its amazing history! 🇮🇹 ❤

@@DauvO Of romans relics there are few because all that you can se is aftermath. Also the walls of the city are medieval, because the walls of Rome were its many legions. In 476 a gothic king of the tribe of Eruli deposed the last emperor Romolo Augustolo and begun the gothic romanic kingdoms. The emperor of Rome fromally was not a king; he was the chief commander of the army of the Republic. The name cames from the imperative verb. So at the same way Napoleon I was not the king of France, but the emperor of the france republic. The last invasion of Italy was made by longobards. This people came from Scania, the South of Sweden. They first settled in Pannonia (Hungary) where they cristianized in the ario cristian religion of gothes, next they entered in Italy in accord with the East Emperor of Bisanzio and invaded most of the peninsula becaming the new lords of Italy as dukes with the exclusion of Romagna and Salento in Apulia were there were bizantini and Lazio where there was the Pope. In Benevento, but not in Naples, Sardinia and in Sicily. The kingdom city was put in Pavia (Lomellina). The longobard kingdom was next destroyed by Carlo Magno. But probably the begining of the italian nation is with the longobard kingdom and the symbol is rapresented by the "Corona Ferrea" iron crown that is in Duomo di Monza. When Napoleon I came in Italy he take the crown and put it on his had and said: "Dio me l'ha data, guai a chi me la tocca". This crown rappresents the unity of the nation and is the oldest crown existing in Europe.

However, language is a big barrier. Thank you!!
